Strava has released his Formula Vee mod for rFactor, bringing three different Formula Vee cars from the 60s to the simulation.
The Formula Vee started competition in 1965, meant to provide motorsport beginners with a cheap base to start from. Engine, transmission and other parts have been taken from the 1963 VW Beetle, despite the simple formula, the cars were able to reach speeds up to 200kph. Notable drivers started their career in Formula Vee, including Nikki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Keke Rosbger and Nelson Piquet.

Great! There’s a distinct lack of lower Formula mods for rFactor.

For some reason I can’t edit. Are there any other mirrors for this? That site won’t recognize any of my emails.

A very unusual choice of subject, worth a look for that alone. Someone with talent make an old geezer happy…. do a group 6 sportscar mod, in the meantime, I’ll be checking this out.

It’s awesome when someone makes something unthought of like this instead of all the usual F1 mods.

Very refreshing and needed category of mod instead of the endless stream of one-season F1 mods.

Was traction control and ABS allowed back then?
Nice to see such a mod. Will be fun trying.

No but then neither was God-mode and thats always available.
Anyway, yeah nice, fresh and original. Definately perked my interest so gonna give this a go.

Tried it, loved it. Unfortunately my PC, which seems to have a grudge with me, crashes while I was on the last lap of a race in Interlagos.
Still I was leading by quite a margin so it counts.
Cool little mod. Nice work guys.

What is the problem? you can disable the ABS and TC from the menu.
This mod has something interesting in the TBC file:
“// made with ‘TREX’ (Tool Rfactor Excel) ver. 0.9.1 ‘It might just be to rFactor physics what Jurassic Park was to fake dinos!’ :O)
//
// By Niels Heusinkveld, helped by many wizards, elves and sometimes goblins! (no dinos though..)”
is good to read that and no other mods that have a hilarious tire model

Hehe, there is absolutely no problem. Was just joking, playing dumb. Bad joke, sorry.
Looking forward to playing the mod someday.

Hmmm well I reckon a couple of lower powered Endurance cars from Enduracers and the Formula 5 mod apply. The former one was funny to the point of annoying and the latter one is downright hilarious. The guy who did the physics for the Formula 5 mod thought that rear tyres should have no grip whatsoever. Front tyres=road physics, Rear tyres=ice racing.
Thankfully, some guys like the ones who did this mod, know how to nail it. However they calculated it, it worked. I dunno what the real thing feel like, but this behaves in a very believable way.

Damn I almost missed this mod, physics by Niels! Well ok, physics by his program, is icing on the cake… and this now sucks because I just finished rFactor for the night (playing with all the new tracks and cars I downloaded) and there’s yet another new mod to try… and by “sucks” I mean fantastically awesome.
Looks very professionally packaged and it has it’s own sound set too, yummy!

Tons of fun. Very, very easy to drive at 8/10ths, and very difficult to get right at 10/10ths. Kind of boring on huge tracks (except Mosport–nothing is boring there), but tons of fun on little club racing tracks. I think the efnet#cars league will find these cars in the Monday night rotation soon.

TREX was used for this mod? Damn, then you know it must be good.

I am very happy that everyone likes my little F Vee cars so much
Thank you VERY much for all the nice comments.
But, to set the record straight, I did the physics !!
Niels was kind enuf to let me use the tires he made for the Historix Porsche 914 as a base. I modified them to behave more like street tires.
From the read me:

Strava – 3D models , physics , textures
Niels Heusinkveld – tires ( crudely modified by Strava with notepad ;-p )
Nil777 – engine sounds ( made from videos of REAL FVs !! )

dmatzies – physics consultant

And no, the Vees did not have TC or ABS
