Vesaro Racing Rig – VVV First Look

Alan Boiston of VVV Automotive had the chance to give Vesaro’s impressive racing rig a test run.

Vesaro sells several configurations of rigs, the one used by Alan in the video is their flagship model equipped with a D-BOX motion system and Buttkicker support. While the smallest versions of the rig start at around thousand Euro, the D-BOX enhanced version seen in the video retails for around 14k.

Alan gets to enjoy the high-tech piece of kit with two high-end wheels, Thrustmaster’s T500 RS and the Fanatec CSR Elite, in several simulations including iRacing and Project CARS.

Ive tried this rig in the same location and can confirm that it is AWESOME !!

The hands and arms on iRacing look terrible!!! It looks as though the wrists have dislocated from the hands! Also the texture’s are really low quality, I’d have prefered they got them looking right before they brought it to the sim. Good job you can turn them off :)
Excellent looking rig though at £14000 I can only dream :(

D-Box is made in Quebec nice!

And completely doable by oneself in his garage for less than half the price and better motion…

Alan doesn’t know what he’s talking about, saying the wheel needs to move with the seat for better motion… Non sense.

And what’s the point of releasing such expensive rigs in a failed economy ???

So we have three kings on the market now.

    Visionracer, HumanRacingGT & now this.

Only issue i see with this (albeight a personal one) is that i run 24 inch screens so the screenstand is way to far away. Would be nice if you could get a stand that sits right after the wheel instead.

Nice to see more companies in the higher end segment, hopefully this will lower the prices and generally create better products.

Not everyone has the skill or inclination to build one of these for themselves, and for the majority that can, it won’t look half as good.

I agree with Alan, The wheel not moving with the rig seems awkward and would probably feel awkward too if the range of motion is big.

Also just because some people don’t have money, that doesn’t mean nobody has any money. This is just a sim rig not a house. Visionracer haven’t stopped producing the VR2 because of the economy, in fact they recently released an even more expensive rig, so someone must be buying these.

I`ve been toying around with the idea of getting a motion rig and I would never dare to build one of these myself. I have absolutely zero talent for DIY and I would appreciate a complete product and I’m sure there’s plenty of others who feel the same.

I think it’s great that some people can do amazing stuff themselves, not everybody has the talent for that though :-)

And the economy thing largely depends on a) the personal situation and b) the location… some countries aren’t hit half as hard as others.

I don’t see what is new. Like so many ‘rigs’ seating position is more straight up than passenger cars, let alone sportscars or racing cars. The ergonomics are not appearing very race like.

It may be nice that the whole thing moves a little bit but motion cues with these rigs are weak and often inverted. The price is too high.

It seems there are a lot of these rigs available, with or without motion, that despite the best attempts don’t really have much to do with real seating position and realism.. But to each his/her own! I am proud of my $50 wooden rig with more car like seating position..

If you had £14,000 wouldn’t you rather buy a cheap race car instead of wasting it on a rig? far too expensive in todays market for it to get many sales. Companies should work more on the medium to low budget rigs to try and get sales IMO

What Alan says makes total sense to me, When I sit in my car if I hit a bump the whole car reacts to it including the steering wheel, having the wheel stationary regardless of whats going on in the game just feels wrong!

Some people don´t want a piece of wood in the living room but rather buy something that can be considered art at the same time.

You can get the cockpit itself for 1K ish.

There are far better systems out there for motion cockpits, hell if you have that kind of money to spend on “fun” then you probably will look at more extreme solutions.
    A true motioncockpit for example.

the screen stands bridge over the rig frame so you can move them as close as the wheel, this also applies to the triple display stand which we will be updating with the new design shortly, you can see an example image showing this here http://www.vesaro.com/blog/?p=150

    Brilliant thanks mate!

When new design is updated it would be awesome if you could post up really high res images of the rig. That way you can get a much better look at it without seeing it in real life.

If you have some high-res images laying around of the cockpit then please email them to GeneralRushHour@gmail.com

I really want to see the beautiful details but need bigger pictures :)
