TrackMaker – Preview Video

Bjorn Klaassen is working on a custom tool for modders, allowing easier creation of tracks for racing simulations.

Called TrackMaker, the tool aims to cut down the track creation time thanks to various tools. It allows to create tracks while maintaining all dynamic relationships, ensuring the user can still tweak the layout, individual lofts & props and export the track into the game.

Right now, the tool is planned to be released for Maya before moving on to other platforms, Bjon promises a user-friendly experience that will allow any user with basic 3D software knowledge to use the tool. Bjon will be putting the tool to the test by creating a custom rFactor 2 track with it, until then you can check out the tool in action below.

What will this do that will be better than the existing Bobs Track Builder out of interest ? For a modeler amateur like me BTB offers everything and more you could ever want ?

  • Anonymous

Good question…depends on what you want. BTB for creating tracks is probably alot faster out of the box. Maya is an allround package, so has alot more features but is setup for more general use. If you want to build a track, go for BTB ….if you want to build a track, props like trees/houses, bake lightmaps etc. go for Maya.

will be more useful/popular when come out for 3dmax

I’m definitely looking forward to this. I don’t know if was intentional, but it reminds me a lot the Sandbox for NR2003, and that’s good. Hopefully it will help to end this “track convertion madness”.
