Toyota Supra MKIV – Mid Ohio Preview Video

Posted on June 30th, 2009 in

Niels_at_home has released a new HD preview video of Some1’s Toyota Supra MKIV road car at Mid Ohio, showing us some impressive headlight effects.

With stunning graphic work and physics made by Niels_at_home, the Supra is shaping up to set a new standard for road cars in rFactor, following the duo’s famed Corvette C6.

The legendary car will be made without using any performance or tuning kits for a true street car look, putting out 330hp using a turbo-charged six-cylinder engine. It will come with a very realistic damage model that uses all of rFactor’s damage features, including detachable bumpers, hood, spoiler, doors and more.

    Impressive, indeed it is.
And if this turns out better compared to the Corvette, i’d say it deserves a MOTY award. Quality is best to describe there mods.

wow, Rfactor 1 still has tons of life/potential left in it as far as keeping somewhat up to date with console game eye candy/graphics… This 3d model and physics is proof. Would love to see this with a few similar rival cars in a complete mod to race online. I can only dream of the 300zx *fairlady*, 300gt, rx7, nsx and other 90s sports cars in a mod.

is the headlights glow real ingame?
i just always wondered if it can be done by painting the MIP maps separately, so in game when the distance changes it switches thru the MIP maps and we get kind of “animation” that makes such glow effect… is it? :)

The headlight glow is real ingame footage, no post processing effects. To achieve the effect, I created some custom shaders which make a simple quad facing the camera and change its size according to the angle, no MIPMap tricks here. These shaders can be used for all kinds of lights (headlights, taillights, track lights, pit lights etc), and will hopefully be available as a separate addon for rFactor.

Stunning work as usual. A question: no way to see the same light effect on rear?

Because rear lights are not as intense as the headlights, the effect is different, but noticeable.
