Top Gear Test Track for rFactor 2 – Two Videos

Tuttle has released two preview videos of his Top Gear Test Track for rFactor 2.

Tuttle has released two preview videos of his Top Gear Test Track for rFactor 2.

One video shows an AI battle with Renault Megane while the second shows us a complete lap in the historical F1 car, allowing us to check out the plenty of details Tuttle has managed to pack into this track.

Located on the Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, England, the track is arguably the most famous airfield in the automotive world as it’s regularly featured in BBC’s Top Gear programme to evaluate both cars and drivers.

The scratch-made track will come with seven different layouts, including the one used in the TV-show.

  • Slawomir Wiszczor

I think the race might be quite exciting especially after a few laps when the fast ones will meet the slow ones on the middle 😮

  • Eric Zehnder

Not sure why most pCARS people didn’t want this track included but very glad it made its way to rFactor 2 because I’m a huge Top Gear fan. I hope one of the layouts is just open so you can hoon it around like they do in the show during reviews.

Looking forward to trying this out!

    • Tuttle

The entire track will be available without limitations and/or closed areas. The only inaccessible roads are the two old concrete runways where the 747 is parked. 🙂

The track you see in these videos is just the TG layout…but I’m working on the entire perimeter of Dunsfold Park.

    • Peter Ball

They wanted crazy money for the licence.

  • Ricoo

Very nice work Tuttle!! Now I will have to call you master. lol

And some say rFactor 2 can’t look beautiful…

    • Nathan Robinson

I wouldn’t say it can’t look beautiful, it just doesn’t right now. Not the stuff I want to race anyway. The historic f1’s and monaco look awesome but thats not what I want to race. I’m tired of this damn historic lotus car that is going to make it’s way into every new sim on the horizon. Maybe it’s because i’m american and dont know much about old school f1 history, but i want to race modern machinery and not re live the old times. Thats for another topic though 🙂 Nice work on the Top Gear track although it’s not a want of mine and I probably wont use it much once the novelty wears off. Not trying to bash the work, just my honest opinion 🙂

It looks great, and the AI seems to handle the track well. There should be some elevation, if it’s still possible, going into T1, it’s definitely a downhill turn, though slight. And there should be a bump in the exit to the Hammer head, it can be seen best in the FXX lap around the track. Even if they can’tmake it into the release, I’m looking forward to it.

    • Tuttle

Thanks mate. For the AI I have to thanks Ethone.

The bump in the exit to the HH is on my “TO DO” list. I’m waching a lot of videos to triangulate the right position before put my hands on the road mesh but I will do for sure.

About the downhill turn, I know…but it’s really hard to catch the correct elevation profile. I’ve some DEM profiles but the resolution is too low to interpolate a realistic downhill and I do not want to force a linear interpolation between distant min/max data. So, for now, I don’t know if I could model this stuff.

But if you’ve other infos and/or data, please, contact me at: [email protected]

      Thanks again.

You can’t betray a video game.

LOL cheers. Isn’t about time you move on from this? I mean this is a seriously random post, this thread has nothing to do with me and yet you post my name? I stay out of the pCARS threads now, i said my piece and expressed my opinion and have moved on. Maybe it’s about time you do to.

I flagged it too when I made my post. Still here though.
@BSNismo:disqus You’re famous now, soon you’ll be in the tabloid press lol

Headline: **Shocker** Gamer not impressed with game, UN called in to find resolution

Yet, not a single fuck was given that day… also, you can flag all you want, but it’s the truth.

Calling someone a treacherous swine is hardly something that belongs as a post on Virtualr.

Vid looks great! I’m not sure if it’s the track lighting or just the way Tuttle has his install set up but the cars here look better than they do on my monitor. (I run everything maxed)
    Regardless, track looks great!

  • Rantam

The track looks very good. Well done 🙂
