60° degrees of steering lock isn't unrealistic at all, some drift machines have even more than that.

Else really cool mod. Would love a little bit better tire response and feeling but it's already pretty good.

@ carbonfibre
A steering lock of 60° wouldn’t be realistic, right? I have always seen it as a bug in the physics engine that you can control soo much oversteer by just increasing the steering lock. If you watch the replays of such drifts it just looks like something you would expect in Burnout
</blockquote>

I'm not to sure, all I do is chase the biggest drifts I can in every car. You might be onto something with the unrealistic lock though.

rFactor's physics certainly had to be hacked up quite a bit for any of the drifting mods to function like they do and excessive steering lock might be the sacrifice needed to make it work. That, and a lot of time to master how it works. I think the general rule to achieve the biggest angles in rFactor is with huge lock range and I'm interested to see if that model can be applied to any car with the physics behind it to support a more natural drifting. Mods like the supra and this one in particular.

@ f0xx
I also have a 240° wheel and I use a steering lock of about 26°. I actually haven't saved a final setup yet, have just tried it a bit.

@carbonfibre: Thanks for your clear description, I'll try it.
The only car I can get power slides rather well (not long drifts) is the genius Toyota Supra from Niels and Some1 :wink:

Very surprised by this like most of us i presume :happy: . I personally love it. The sound, the shifts, the handling. Instant favorite. Very good job indeed. Drove it on the laser scanned version of oran park and i found myself coming out of the last corner sideways, 2 inches from the wall, pumping my fist. Brilliant mod :wink:

Never been able to drift in any sim, rFactor's Oversteer mod included. Kind of makes me worried about SHIFTs drift mode :weird:
I know the techniques, I watched the drift Bible so I know how to practice, but I just can't do it. My mind is too weak to endure 99 spins for 1 drift... that ends in a spin too.

Whoa this is a brilliant handling thing! Very unexpected release of such quality. :sd:

Can I also ask for just a little more lock though too? (possibly as an upgrade?)
I'm using 540º with the max lock of 40º (would like at least 50-60º)

It's drifts very nicely indeed but I can't pull off anything that fantastic without extra lock to recover and I usually end up over rotating.
Some used drifting tyres would be nice too with lower grip, again as a setup upgrade (or downgrade lol)

Spectacular work so far. :ooo:

f0xx: First, make sure you're FFB is working correctly. Use RealFeel and hold the wheel loosely as you oversteer. Let the FFB "point you in the right direction" and assist it while keeping the throttle open. You can balance the car purely by adding or reducing pressure against where the FFB is turning to rotate your wheel. This car needs the throttle open to keep the wheels spinning.

I would start off making abrupt steps first. Turn in 45º let off 30º, etc. Keep the wheel moving. After many hours of practice you're learn a predicable response technique (much like balancing on a bike) that you can adopt for nearly any type of car that will allow some drifting. Obviously not on single seaters, etc, though as you're just spin out, a lot.

<strong><a href="#comment-26441" rel="nofollow">f0xx</a></strong>:
Very funny to play with!
Pitty I cant drift.
When I know the car is going to slip I dont know what to do :S
Should I downshift, upshift? acelerate? deacelerate?

</blockquote>

Drifting is indeed very hard. Just try to steer your front wheels in the direction you want to go and play with the throttle. Try to keep in the high revs, especially with this cars.

TopGear testtrack is a good track to practise. My advise is you start with medium speed corners for drifting. I always found it a lot easier to drift in 2nd or 3rd gear. First gear drifitng is near impossible.

Standard setup of these cars are quite good for drifting. Gotta check the Steering Lock though. It's set on 37° on default. Good for a 900° wheel, but waaaaay too much for 240° or 360°.
