Test Drive Unlimited 2 – Two New Previews

Atari has released two new preview shots of their upcoming Test Drive Unlimited 2 trailer that will enable players to freely explore the islands of Ibiza and Oahu this fall.

The new shots show the Ford GT at night as well as an Audi on off-road terrain, including the new dirty car effect.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be coming to the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 this fall. New features include the brand-new island of Ibiza, vehicle damage, weather and a full 24-hour day & night cycle.

    I don’t think the “vehicle damage” feature is even worth advertising since other previews have stated that it’s just a visual effect. It doesn’t affect performance, although it costs in-game money to fix.

    The graphics don’t look very impressive either. Hopefully the PC version looks better. Sure the cars are very detailed, but the environment doesn’t look nearly as good.

    The aliasing on the body panels and specular aliasing problems like on NFS (not evident on any promo shots) is what annoys me the most about the conversion job. Obviously forgetting the UI, DX11 and the rest for the moment lol.

    I dunno if it’s the humble TV that helps blur the sparkles but on my diamond sharp Samsung PC monitor I’m forced to apply extra full screen super-sampling that’s not supported in the first place because the consoles certainly don’t, and it kills nearly all my performance. :sad:
