Thank you for the credit :) Big news so not sure if it was needed hehe.

As for the physics it sounds kind of disappointing but I expect to see plenty of tweaks before release (rumoured to be 30th November). Hopefully the Beta will appear soonish giving them plenty of time to listen to player feedback. But saying that I don’t expect TDU to ever feel like a sim racer due to the franchise and it’s never been about that, I hope the cars feel fairly responsive and fun to drive.

Looking very good. TDU was fun; this should be fun x 2. We can’t tell about the physics from this first trailer. Notice at the beginning how choppy the frame rate is. They apparently went to the trouble of making a whole new physics engine! So I expect they’ll be much improved. We can see the roads have been fixed from what TDU had. Plus many many new features. So ha-rah!

That’s a buy for me!

It looks, graphically, better than I expected. There might have been video filters used to enhance the footage, besides the vignetting. But I can see various small improvements in-game; e.g. the paint texture on the back of the audi reminds me of the ISI Lexus.

I was originally going to post about there not being enough footage to gather physics and no body roll, but I’ve came to a new conclusion just now after seeing 0:37 that these must be pace-holder physics. My theory explains the delayed the trailer release so they could reduce the chances we would spot it.

However, it falls apart at IGN’s comment since it doesn’t make sense they would show-boat a live demo too, when the physics weren’t just for making the trailer.

Nonetheless, I severely hope they haven’t just disguised this “new physics” part as a step backwards to simplistic NFS handling because they feel it better matches the “direction” of the game to a “casual audience”…

I’m exaggerating of course, this is becoming a mixed bag of emotions very quickly. I’ll just calm down and wait for more footage I think.

TDU is about driving first <- remember that Eden, I couldn't care less about the social shit unless we achieve some kind of tyre-on-road feeling through FFB and true to life performance of vehicles.

How many time must it be explained to you Neanderthals. The site covers Sim Racing News. Not other genre. A car racing game is “related”. Do you ask this question every time a game like, Forza, GT4 appears? Exactly what game do you want reported on. Just iRacing? Oh that’s right. They’re missing allot of Simulated stuff that would make them 100%. So their out also.

“Simulation is the imitation of some real thing, state of affairs, or process.”

So why is a news site aimed at sims posting about casual arcade games? There are plenty of mainstream game sites doing that aswell. Not meaning to start a flamewar here, just honestly curious.

All titles covered here can be considered to be at least semi-sims, VIrtualR does not cover arcade games.

Of course, that definition is a little shaky, some people think only iRacing is a simulation, others even label Gran Turismo as simulation.

For me, the main point is that the title has to try and deliver a realistic driving experience. I´m quite hopeful that TDU 2′s physic will be close to Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo, making it eligible to be covered here.

Of course, no one can tell for sure without trying it but the video shows me nothing that makes me believe this will be a completely unrealistic arcade title.

And to answer your question why they are covered here: You´re right, there are lots of mainstream gaming sites out there, none of them are aimed at sim racers though. So this is the place were such titles are covered from a sim racing perspective, something mainstream sites rarely do.

Plus, sim racers can discuss titles here without being annoyed by the typical gaming-site crowd that focuses almost solely on graphics, crashes and tuning. Typically, discussions regarding physics and such are much more sophisticated here simply because the people discussing this stuff are more knowledgeable when it comes to racing games.

Imitation is the catch word to your definition. They all imitate racing and driving to some degree. None are 100%. Which means the site must be 100% dedicated to racing and driving games. TDU does have allot of (racing) in it. Name one other site that is 100% dedicated to racing and driving Sim’s. And where do YOU draw the line between Simulated physics and Arcade ones? It’s mostly in the eye of the beholder! One man’s junk is another’s treasure. I sure hope this site doesn’t gets snobbishly “100% Simulated Racing” as you define it!

jeez where do you guys get off telling Rob what he should and shouldn’t put on his site ? TDU simulates racing, its all a question of degree. The news is as worthy on this site as anything else.
Some high horses need to be gotten off here methinks.

mmmh looking video physics gave me impression to be “less simulation” than first title. But is only my impression and..is only a video! anyway looks really good and cool

The physics in TDU weren’t that bad in “Hardcore”-mode, except that it somehow included reduced gravity … and was completely spoiled by the roads that felt more like staircases. TDU 2 It will never be a sim, but still maybe more than a pure arcade game.
I won’t buy it for other reasons though (Atari already got enough money from me with the unfinished beta they sold as “TDU”, and they didn’t even try to make you not feel like being cheated … more the oppoosite …)

This surely will be must-buy. Loved first one(both X360 and pc versions), so I guess this pt.2 will offer many hours of pure pleasure.

Choppy framerate at the beginning? If you aren’t talking about the video editing then it must be something wrong at your end.
The trailer is purposely edited “choppy” synched with the music. Just to make it bit more exciting.

The first offering was much fun, and still is. With a new physics engine, I expect much improved physics. I’m not out to prove my man hood, driving on a game or any where else.
