Test Drive Ferrari – Lots of Previews

Back in November, BigBen Interactive announced to be publishing the newest edition of the iconic Test Drive franchise, titled Test Drive Ferrari.

Aside from the fact that the new title would center around the Italian prancing horse and will be released in March 2012, little substantial info was known so far.

This changes now as the Polish gaming website gry-online.pl has released a big batch of Test Drive Ferrari previews as well as some additional info.

According to the site, Test Drive Ferrari will feature 52 Ferrari road & race cars from various decades, including Formula One & sports car machinery. The previews show the cars racing on both modern and historic tracks such as Rouen, the choice of tracks also includes the toughest of them all – The Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The website claims that Sligthly Mad Studios are responsible for the development of the upcoming title, BigBen Interactive has not officially confirmed a developing studio though.

Test Drive Ferrari will be coming to the PC, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 starting March 30 2012 according to the publisher and various retailers.

They better call it Test Drive Ferrari: Bloom edition.
    Damn..

  • Anonymous

    No kidding.. looks like GRID

  • http://www.facebook.com/charlessami.amyouni Charles Sami Amyouni

The game would look better if the bloom would be less than it has right now… its gonna hurt on the eyes after playing 30 minutes or so…

  • Chima Madujibeya

    Far too  much bloom!

  • http://www.facebook.com/jcruze88 Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

    Wonder how it drives.

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

I had the same impression, just couldn’t put an engine behind it ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

It’s clearly a console oriented title… Pretty but will there be something more ?
Test Drive has never been about the driving, though, I won’t hold my breath… Unless it’s really SMS who develop it… I could be mistaken but looks to me SMS is not too keen on working for capitalists again…

    ugh

Very arcadish HUD and colors, Horrendous Bloom… damm, I really hope this game will get a graphic overhaul before release, Bloom is so yesterday… ;-)

Way too much bloom.  Seems like it’s very Shift like

  • Anonymous

With such amount of bloom, I bet that DICE is the developer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/scala.giovanni Giovanni Scala

    sry double post

  • http://www.facebook.com/scala.giovanni Giovanni Scala

I hope can be modded (just file structures), at least the physic! If the physic will be arcadish I will modify by myself for sure!

Hopefully this will be successfully ‘nailed’ for the general motorsports public.  In turn that once they hunger for more, they will become part of our sim racing community.

Presumably an arcade-fest. Nonetheless it’s great to see a 1974 312 B3 given what I think is the first appearance of a mid-70′s F1 car in a game, if you discount the Lotus 72, which lasted for several seasons.

Looks promessing, I would love to drive those classics.
I’m not a fan of new ferraris though.

i wish companies would stop using so much bloom…….
IMO,  when im racing with good physics and in a close heated race…..everything gets blurry all on its own……..

The developer of this is Slightly Mad Studios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_DDDpE1tLY

Yup SMS is developing this. I hope they give the option to adjust bloom and disable blur.

  • Ricoo

Bloom and Blur is not the same thing.

There is indeed a lot of blur in those picts but for me bloom (similar to HDR) level is acceptable.

    10-4
    thanks for the clear up:)

If SMS are Developing the title can we see those circuits in pcars too?

  • http://www.facebook.com/Jim.Cassi Jim Slimjim Cassi

Cars look very nice, physics don’t.

  • yorch sincla

Seems like they have taking a long of content from Shift 1&2, along with his engine (and phsyics for sure) mix it with a bunch of Ferrari cars and get a product with the Ferrari name that will sell a lot of copies. That’s the impression of a game that will come out that soon when we know about it’s existence since a few weeks ago.I don’t dislike the graphics, as long as we can turn off bloom, i guess.

If they make decent physics and handling, can be a good game, for example Dirt 2 was arcade as hell but with perfect control and a good FFB. I don’t expect an ISI or Simbin like game, but hope they make decent control…

I was being sarcastic on my comment, it was a reference to Battlefield 3 overdone effects.

But I didn’t know that SMS was involved on this. Good news then.

  • Anonymous

I just saw a video, its not overdone like those shots. Looks way better

Testarossas, 288 GTOs, F40s… this game are so gonna rock! gonna be one sweet arcade racer!

  • Anonymous

If it sounds as good as it looks, I wouldn’t mind playing a good-old keyboard racer again. Could be quite addictive as long as physics are predictable and fun.

Looks great apart from the ridiculous dashboard blur. I recently took a BMW 135i up to nearly 250km/h on the autobahn just outside of Munich, when I glanced at the speedo it was crystal clear. Worst graphical effect I’ve ever seen in a racing game.

  • Marco Conti

One would hope that SMS has learned a few things with pCARS and at least the handling will be more similar to it than Shift.

I couldn’t tell in the video but if you race a vintage Ferrari formula 1, do you do it in a field of identical cars or at least you get to race against some of the cars of the era? Could anyone tell?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001061294656 Rhys Gardiner

I’m not too sure that SMS needed to “learn” about handling from pCARS… they are mostly the same team that developed GTR2, after all. I’m fairly sure Shift’s physics were the result of executive meddling.

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

    Indeed… Wow. I’m in shock. Traitors ! ;)

    Great news in fact…

    > The website claims that Sligthly Mad Studios are responsible for the development of the upcoming title <

As I remember SMS was in developing this game ("Project Ferrari" or somewhat) some years ago, even before Shift 1 or may be between Shift 1 and Shift 2
So don't wait a simulator from this game – wait a Shift with Ferraris…or Test Drive Shift Ferrari

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

YOU R BELONG TO US !

    Resistance is futile !

    etc. ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

Ferrari has made good choices in sim, lately, look at FVA based on nKP !
I’m not sure how much implication Ferrari will have in this development though…

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

    Crossing fingers ;)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6D2OBFNYYU7KMO5XWNTWYBB5DY Tony

Hope Its uses the new input system from pCARS.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jcruze88 Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

Shame we cant get more info out of SMS, damn NDA…..

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

SMS started developing this in 2006 indeed. I wouldn’t hold my breath for CARS physX engine either ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Markus-Ott/100000878526131 Markus Ott

From watching the video the input is taking from the Shift series and has nothing to do anymore with the behaviour of pCARS.

  • Anonymous

Indeed. I’m sure if EA weren’t in the picture, Shift 2 would have been quite a bit more ‘sim’ than it is.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Jim.Cassi Jim Slimjim Cassi

looks like rF will be getting new content….lol

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6D2OBFNYYU7KMO5XWNTWYBB5DY Tony

    agreed

  • sclowes

Anyone else thinking along the same lines as me, as in this looks to be the modern day equivalent of the classic NFS:Porsche 2000/Unleashed?

Some nice shots in there, would loved to know how photoshopped/pre-rendered they are…

  • http://twitter.com/bricky149 Shane Bundy

That is definitely the Madness Engine at work here.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JMPylarinos Marc Pylarinos

Funny how dev teams and publishers still find blurry pictures appealing

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1415444469 Van Sanhnikone

wouldn’t mind GRiD physics, I would have plenty of fun still.. As long as it doesn’t get shift physics ;)
