i seriously hope that one day, these die hard GPL guys will consider trying a newer sim and bring their nostalgic racing era over.. GPL is good, but they basically modded it soo much, its hard for a new comer to get into it.

The video almost made me cry! Well, almost!
Seriously, I’ve just reinstalled GPL only for this track: now I have to find proper upgrades and then I’m done. ^^

What an incredible preview video of this amazing work of this immensely important track of grand historical proportions. You can almost feel the summer heat from the mountains of Sicily near Palermo. I especially love the vintage footage at the end. Be sure to watch the deleted scenes vintage footage that hit the editing floor as well. Hopefully someone or team is making a scratch one for rfactor too. Conversions are o.k. but nothing like an original, as proven by this one specificaly made for GPL. It may very well turn out to be it’s crown jewel.

That preview video is ASTONISHING.
This is stunning work. Probably the most impressive track I’ve ever seen built for a PC sim.
Take care,

Release Date? Conversion to GTR2? Why was such an important track made for an old sim like GPL? I don’t have GPL and can’t find a place to get it or download the full version anywhere on the internet. Is someone out there going to convert this to an updated sim such as GTR2?

You can get the free updated 2004 GPL Demo here:
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/GPL/downloads/3239
(Asuming the track will work with the demo, not sure though)
This track fits perfectly into GPL,
and the community is very much alive.
But yes,
i too hope the track will be allowed to be converted to Gmotor Sims.

OK listen up you youngins. Everything you need for GPL is on these links I’m about to post here. Read up a bit and install GPL with the GPL installer or you’ll never get any of the mods working. Here is the page for the GPL installer, which is absolutely essential for anyone who doesn’t know how to install and update/patch GPL. It’s not that hard to get into this sim, you just have to know where to go for resources.
http://gplps.org/wb/pages/projects/gpl-installer.php
Tons of GPL links and info…
http://gpltd.bcsims.com/?ir=Links
And also, a nice little google search I compiled for people who want to search open web servers for GPL files, though you can use this method to search for anything…
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&num=100&q=%22GPL%22+last+modified+rar+%22index+of%22+-html+-htm+-php+-asp&btnG=Search
Have fun messing with the search terms on that, I always run across something exciting when searching with the -html -php ect. ect….
And never forget, GPL started it all. Yeah, there are newer sims, and this track is definitely worthy of being ported to them, but given my experience in the GPL community, I can tell you right now: don’t count on it. GPL is STILL an amazing simulation today and I’ll always love firing up those beasts and marveling at how men drove these death traps as if they had one day left to live.
Cheers to the most legendary simulation of all time! GPL FOREVER!!!

GPL installer is for people who already have GPL on a CD. I have never owned GPL. This does not really help. And the link given by goose08 does not have a download button, or if there is one I can’t find it because it is in French. Anyone out there have a definite link to a clean fully updated install of GPL? It would be nice to have GPL when this Targa Florio track is released so I can drive it since it looks like it will not be converted to GTR2 anytime soon. Release date anyone on this? Thanks.

I really don’t think it’s legal to download GPL regardless of how old it is. It is on that page, though. You just have to find the right link.
Furthermore, it’s 10 bucks. And it IS for sale. It’s not hard to find a copy.
Also, do you really need to have GPL updated FOR you? I mean c’mon, it’s not brain surgery dude. It’s simple. The information in the links I gave basically does everything short of holding your hand.

There are some other bargains as Richard Burns Rally, too.

Why is there no mention of this mod at drivingitalia.net? Are they still working on it?
