6e66o has release a new video slideshow, showing us various new previews of the Targa Florio rFactor conversion project.
Originally created for Grand Prix Legends, kuato, Bud Lucas, Deadeyeski, [dd] Baule, TICTOC, 6e66o, Philrob, Motorfx & seventies are working on bringin the legendary Italian track to rFactor. To bring it up to rFactor standards, the track has been equipped with new textures, shaders, a new AIW supporting large fields and much more.
Located on the Italian Island of Sicily, the 72 kilometer track is one of the most epic motorsport race tracks ever used. As safety concerns became an influence in international motorsports, the Targa Florio sports car race lost its world championship status and is still run as an Italian rallye today.

Just in case somebody is wondering: that is Vic Elford speaking in the video, obviously taken from “The Speed Merchants” film/documentary. But I guess every motorsport enthusiast has it on DVD anyway …
The shots look absolutely stunning. I just hope my old PC can handle this track!! (Would be a nice touch, since the CSGT mod is designed that way, too). I like that texture-generated detail-style somehow, if it’s done well (like here or for example on the 1970 Sebring track) it looks way better than models do. Maybe not from every angle, but from the drivers seat.

I tried it on GPL and it’s magnificent, can’t wait to drive it in rFactor.

Yummie!!! The GPL-version is stunning, if you manage to hold the car intact for the entire journey. At least you wont fall asleep, like at LeMans.

Loading time is pretty quick here (30 sec – 1 min).
May take a bit longer when you load the track the first time.
rFactor needs to create a HAT File.

It’s quiet disturbing to see that at some point in the vid, some screens looks actually better than last rFactor 2 last screens.
6e66o keep it up the good work.

Most important Sim Racing news of the year for me, I just hope it can meet Power & Glory over on the GTR2 platform after this.
Also I refuse to drive this track without first completing my Eyefinity setup.

Will you add some shadows there, like in villages? I really miss shadows in GPL when driving in villages, because in the videos I have watched some places are really dark.
As to AI drivers, I found it funny once I tested AI in gpl there at Targa. I set AI drivers go pretty fast lap times and tried to keep up with them pace. If I could complete the lap, it would have been superduperfast.
I can’t wait for try out this track in rFactor. I want drive an endurance race here :)

Any predictions on hardware requirements? It should be rather low, as it is for most GPL conversions, or does it get worse with track-length?
Just watched the video again, it’s so beautiful it almost hurts

I think the main fps killer will be shadows. Most video cards with 512mb and up should be fine with this track though.

“Targa Florio won’t be released as part of HistorX mod. But specific cars are being developed with such track in mind” really nice!!

I want it for GTREvo, please
I love this legendary track, but I don´t like rFactor. Conversion from GTL to GTE can be easier, or?

Hey guys, for those who don’t have already….Machwerk is also a good long track with lots of tight & open corners! @ 18km long.
Taken me ages to learn every corner & this Targa Florio is gonna be sweet!
