Back in September, the legendary Targa Florio was released for Grand Prix Legends, leaving users of other simulations jealous about this both massive and legendary track.
This changes now as kuato, Bud Lucas, Deadeyeski, [dd] Baule, TICTOC, 6e66o, Philrob, Motorfx & seventies are working on a rFactor conversion of the track. To bring it up to rFactor standards, the track has been equipped with new textures, shaders, a new AIW supporting large fields and much more. Below are first previews of the rFactor version to get everybody excited.
Located on the Italian Island of Sicily, the 72 kilometer track is one of the most epic motorsport race tracks ever used. As safety concerns became an influence in international motorsports, the Targa Florio sports car race lost its world championship status and is still run as an Italian rallye today.

All credits go to the GPL Guys who created it in the first place,
and thankfully gave us permission to convert it.
A preview Video is most likely coming soon

AWESOME
The original track creators are great guys for :-
1) Creating it in the first place
and
2) Allowing the conversion

Great news! GPL is one of my favorite sims, but this masterpiece deserved to be appreciated by more sim racers.

You have to be kidding me. I can’t believe Ginetto and the guys agreed to give permission for this. These guys slaved over this track for so long..
Please give this conversion the attention to detail that the original creators gave the original. This is by far the most significant piece of work produced in this genre’s history.

Isn’t the mod in the pictures the GPL mod? Why not want your work to be enjoyed and praised by as many people as possible? The creators aren’t as much into selling GPL as their own talents. After all GPL has already been way over sold to the sim racing community.

Good to see the first previews. You’re doing a great job with this. No need to mention the astonishing work made by the original creators. All the respect and thankfulness for them, as they’ve allowed us to enjoy it not only in the great GPL but in rF also!!
Cheers

That’s WSC 1970 for rFactor by CSGT, not a gpl mod

So just because they slave they arent suppose to agree on any conversion? That doesnt make sense?
Anyway Im absolutly blown away by this announcement! and seeing who’s in charge of the conversion makes it even more tingeling!

I knew too it was just a matter of time but for the GPL community this is a major blow! I got GPL just after reading about this track basically I got GPL for this track and I’m sure many more people did the same. The sim is great I’m really enjoying it so is this track and I can’t wait to get my hands on this covnersion
I really hope these guys write GPL conversion all over it and give ALL the credits to Ginetto and the guys!

Why be like that? All that serves to is make mod/track creators less likely to allow conversions to other sims.
Why is it a major blow? People play GPL because it’s GPL and there is no other sim or mod like it. I don’t think those that are left in the community will abandon GPL because a track has been converted to another sim.
Why’s that?

It looks astonishing! First I would like to say that original creators of TF made really huge (and great) job. I remember when I breathless read about Targa Florio race many years ago
. Good luck with conversion…

Looks great, very similar to GPL version. Will you guys add shadows, I didn’t see ‘em?.
And that would made one of my dreams come true, Endurance race @ Targa Florio with driver swaps as GPL doesn’t support them.
Good job there.. if you want to I can test it ;))) :D :D

Looks fantastic. Just one step closer in terms of covering all bases on the rFactor front.
Can’t wait to give it a run.

That’s why. As an arrogant rFactor fanboy I will only allow 1 platform to prevail over all others.
