Superleague Formula Game – Intro Video & Release Info

The Superleague Formula Series has released the intro video of their upcoming official racing game, showing some fast-paced SLF action on various tracks.

Developed by rFactor-creators Image Space Incorporated, the game is planned to be released before the series final round at Jarama two weeks from now. Confirmation has also been given that the game will be a commercial title, a free 60-minute demo will be available for download – Sim racers will be asked to purchase the full version once the time is up.

The series uses a Elan-designed open wheel race car that is powered by a 750hp V12 engine. All teams in Superleague Formula represent a football club, notable clubs in the series roster include AC Milan, FC Porto, Liverpool FC and Glasgow Rangers. Even though the field consists mainly of less-known open wheel talents, some known drivers competing in SF include Tristan Gommendy, Davide Rigon, Antonio Pizzonia & Girgio Pantano.

Am I reading this correct? In other words, “developed by Gjon Camaj and his ISI team”? If so, what a better sim series mod than this that wrings out the very last drop of capabilities of the gMotor2 as a grand finale, ‘arriverderci’, swan song and good bye before their future grand evolutionary creation step of rFactor2. If this is true, then let’s all show our great appreciation by showing support of their tremendous iconic program, the rFactor era by thanking them with a purchase of this.

What! No cries of “how can they release yet another game using the ancient gM2 graphics engine?” or “they are really milking this tired old engine!” ? :)

Also as I understand it ISI subcontracted the development and I’m not sure they’ve wrung out the very last drop of the engine’s capabilites as there is no mention of weather or animated driver and pitcrew which were in GTR2 three years ago.

Still, the cars and tracks look good so if the price is right (i.e. no more than half full game price) it may well be worth buying. Looking forward to the demo.

    …Or

Made on super-tight budget by some modders hired by ISI and is essentially a mod, hopefully of better quality than the Turismo Carretera one by 2Pez.

For me there are enough very good F1 mods for rFactor. For me this one would not have enough added value to pay for.

Montoya, you could add Sébastien Bourdais to the list of known drivers. He drives for the Sevilla FC team.
For the last five races in Portugal and Italy, he has two wins (incl. a Super Final win), a second place and a third place. Impressive results for just five starts in the series, I think.

Been spoting new tracks and done some research on superleague formula, found the real event runs on Magny-Cours, Zolder, Estoril, Circuito del Jarama and Donington Park. With permission, rF could get well enhanced

  • klaasvh

I’m pretty sure I spotted Zolder (at 13 secs into the video) and Donington (at 23 secs). I suppose Jarama could be the track at 23 secs into the video.

  • S.Moss

Didn’t spot zolder, but i spotted ISI Brianza, Jarama v1.2 and Donington GTL

Buying a rF mod? No thanks. I understand ISI needs to make money, but they’d better get on with rF2…
