The Superleague Formula racing series has just announced that an official series racing game is in developed by none other than Image Space Incorporated, creators of rFactor.
Superleague Formula’s game will feature the series spec open wheel car as well as the six tracks the series races on, the game is planned to be released in September via the Superleague Formula website.
The series uses a Elan-designed open wheel race car that is powered by a 750hp V12 engine. All teams in Superleague Formula represent a football club, notable clubs in the series roster include AC Milan, FC Porto, Liverpool FC and Glasgow Rangers. Even though the field consists mainly of less-known open wheel talents, some known drivers competing in SF include Tristan Gommendy, Davide Rigon, Antonio Pizzonia & Girgio Pantano.
Even though the concept of combining football and motorsports is pretty unique, the series has struggled attracting crowds in its maiden season. The second season schedule consists of six races, all on notable tracks like Monza, Zolder & Magny Cours.
It`s not known whether or not the game will be free or commercial. Most likely, the game will be using ISI’s trusted gMotor 2 engine but maybe we´ll get a sneak preview of what’s coming up with rFactor 2?

Great news! Just great!
As far as I know the cars have similar specs with the former Champ Cars.

Great news. I’ll be the #21 Liverpool FC car. I think Dortmund left the series. If they charge for 1 car + 6 tracks a lot of sim racers will be very disappointed.

Cant they just include this in rFactor 2?

Well, I would unterstand if it would cost some money, but only if it already has the rFactor2 engine and its graphics, but if not, most people wouldn’t buy it. With the rF2 graphic, it would be something like the Pologue from GT5 :D

Good news
For Superleague becomes an important series, must include a car of San Lorenzo de Almagro

I don’t think it will use rF2 engine, but it will be interesting to find out. It would be cool if they will add tracks from this series into rF2!

Well, it’s not like the “rf2″ engine is something completely scratch made, it’s a continuation of their game engine. So surely(?) it would be based on up to date(ish) code and not based on old rf1 code.
Or am I completely wrong here?

does this mean that the sim scene wil be swamped by hooligans in the near future.. :-)
This might push rF2 even more behind schedule. hope not.

Has anyone seen a race?
I remember reading about it somewhere when Champcar went under and I think the chassis is an evolution of the Panoz DP01, but with a nice big V12

You guys are right, Dortmund is not part of the 2009 series anymore.
Should have known that as it’s my favorite club…

rF2 is indeed an evolution of their previous engines, but at this moment I don’t think they will show the new engine in this sim, mainly because there’s the risk to put out there something unfinished, while they probably prefer to keep all the new stuff for rF2.
This doesn’t mean that there can’t be an update gMotor 2 or pMotor 2, but I suppose that only time will tell: let’s wait for some more news! ;)

You forgot Robert Doornbos!
I hope this won’t get in trouble with the rF2 development, but I’m curious to see what it’s going to be like.

not a mod, and there isn’t a proper super league mod/game so this will be great
