Super GT GT500 3.0 – Released

Team BB has released a new version of their popular Super GT GT500 mod for GTR2, adding Honda’s HSV 010 to the mix of spectacular Japanese race cars.

The HSV 010 has replaced Honda’s aging NSX model in their fight against Nissan and Lexus for the Super GT title starting with the 2010 season. The car is powered by a 3.4 liter V8 engine, putting out about 500hp and 400nm of torque. Unlike other Super GT cars, the HSV 010 is not based on a road-going model but a pure purpose-built prototype race car.

The mod includes the most popular racing cars of Japan’s premier sports car racing series, including the Honda NSX, the Nissan GT-R and the Lexus SC430.

Just a heads up on this archive – 7-Zip reports a broken sound file in part 1 of the archive; I’ve notified folks on NoGrip.

UPDATE: I tried de-archiving the four parts together – got multiple duplicate files, CRC check fails, and file broken errors. Caveat emptor.

To avoid Winrar prompting for next file, rename the files to:
    SUPER GT GT500 v3_0 by Yakkun.part1.rar
    SUPER GT GT500 v3_0 by Yakkun.part2.rar
    SUPER GT GT500 v3_0 by Yakkun.part3.rar
    SUPER GT GT500 v3_0 by Yakkun.part4.rar

After that you don’t have any problems unpacking all files with Winrar.

Who uses Winrar – it’s not freeware!

OK I found a fix that allows you to use 7-Zip:

    1. Rename archive parts as given above
    2. Open 7-Zip file manager
    3. Select Tools -> options -> system and put a checkmark in the .rar filetype option
    4. Select all 4 renamed parts
    5. Select 7-Zip -> extract files from right context menu when you right-click on one of the 4 parts

The problem 7-Zip has here is that it does not properly recognize setting file type settings through Windoze (i.e. when done through the “open with…” dialog)

The new Honda looks and sounds great, but on my second lap with default suspension and gas I did a 1:32 at Montreal, with the F1 cars doing 1:19s in the race yesterday that seems awfully fast – are these GT500 cars really so grippy? They’d crush DTM!

  • pez2k

GT500 cars are so quick that when Team Goh entered a Maserati MC12, the same model that was dominating FIA GT at the time, it was something like 1.5 seconds per lap away from every other car in the class. Even Hitotsuyama Racing with a modified DBR9 finish at the back rather often.

Part of the GT500/DTM equalisation is GT500 dropping from mainly five litre engines down to roughly LMP2-spec 3.4s (most from Formula Nippon), and DTM getting much sticker tyres.

Does anybody know if this mod is also planned for rFactor?

  • gpfan

Very weak Physics!!!! No mass transfer at all!!! Car to Grippy even without wing. Sounds are ok, Cokpits very good but the feeling of the car is way so wrong!!!

nice car, nice sounds, but why it is unoptimized? Its frame rate is not good, im running gtr2 at 150 fps for stock cars(solo open practice), this i run about 110 oni, and the new hsv is like 100 fps. And when race with 15 cars , the fps plunges to 30 20 somothing, unplayable. i does not maxxed my setting, im running quad core cpu ,2gb ram, 8600gt, shud be enuf??

  • sam92

well it seems that all tis is due to some fine dust, i found out there is some fine dust at my graphic card’s contact, i wipe it off, an plug back, when i run gtr2 wallah!, my fps instantly pop up to 210 fps with stock cars, and using hsv 010 gt, i get 210 also at the same track. YAY!! well ,sorry for the misunderstood.

Very interesting, pez2k – thanks for the info.

I get about 6:47 lap time at Nurburgring with the Honda versus about 6:25 with the Audi R15 and 5:58 with the 07 Bmw Sauber.

Too bad the Honda has that annoying “windshield brace” or whatever that is… such a shame.
