I agree with RKipker.

Please continue with this track sibkin. For a 1st track it is very good.

I think most people will enjoy your track.

The language barrier might make you belive your track is not liked. I hope you understand what I say.

If you enjoy track making you should continue, just for your own pleasure if you do not want to release it.

Please do not stop making this track.

Your track is wonderful looking compared to multi-man team with latest technology! Do not listen to folks discouraging you, if you enjoy track making, make tracks! You seem to have a lot of potential.

Good Luck sibkin

fpol: Anyway, I’m at a loss as how someone with google earth and some videos will accurately create the track (surface wise).

Google earth only gives you an exact picture of the tracks borders. A couple tracks have already been (scanned) and made in BTB for rFactor. They do feel very good in compared to others. In the BTB it is easy to adjust bumps, hills, camber, etc. Then drive it in game.Compare side by side with same car, real video. Then go back make more adjustments. It all just depends on how much time you want to spend getting it right. But as you point out. It doesn't matter if the track surface and every bump and camber is exact. Because tracks are dynamic; always changing. Even the colors changes from season, time of day, the last time track had red clay brushed off of it. etc. I'm a fan of laser scanning. But always also realized I could do a much better job with track surfaces, then most have, just from observing the many videos we can find of most tracks. I don't know when I'll have time to make track making my hobby. IF ever. Certainly I'll wait untill after rFactor2 is out.

Yeah Howie47, I've driven the track...first drove there in '98 and generally do about 10 -14 days there a year between all 3 circuits. Just a car lapper though...would love to say i was out there with 2 less wheels but..oh well.

I don't get into textures and all that stuff. *to me*, color wise, Summit Main in iRacing does a damn good job of replicating a day in mid summer. It's also IMHO, virtually identical in all manner to the track (surface, crown, bump, items at trackside location) to the track *before* Oct 2007 when it was repaved. Unfortunately they don't seem keen on rescanning it since. As to whether it's cartoonish - *ehh - I don't expect photo realism at this point but it does a credible job of suspending disbelief for me otherwise.

Anyway, I'm at a loss as how someone with google earth and some videos will accurately create the track (surface wise). Does he even know that it - like all Summit Pt tracks - is aggressively crowned? Just because you see shock deflection on a video, does not tell you the profile of a bump. He could use telemetry (though i doubt there's a lot of detailed motec level shock sensor telemetry from Jefferson) but then he'd have to know how to interpret the shock readings.

I wish the track maker great success with the track. I'm not some iRacing fanboi that wants every other sim to die - quite the opposite i hope they step up (specifically with their tracks),as I love to see quality 3rd party tracks for the broader sim racing community.

unklepepper:
That’ll be why its called rFactor then!
I think somepeople always forget a very important point, iRacing is made by a team of people with a healthy budget and detailed access to the circuits to build tracks for sale.
Guys making tracks for rF or any other modable sim dont have any of those things, in some cases you could do a track day but that is not cheap and they do it for free.
Good work on this Sibkin, I enjoyed this track when I had iR so I cant wait to try it.

IMHO, when these comparisons are posted, it never fails to impress me just how good these independent. loyal, honest, and giving track builders are compared to iRacing.... based on this point alone!

iRacing equals a Fat Budget and latest technology (laser scan) and still there tracks are merely minor improvements over free, limited resourced developed tracks. If I were iRacing developers, I would hate these video comparisons.

Well you know it does good to have a few extremists both sides to keep the fight balanced, and there's no denying there are two sides to these things, always will be.

If my controversial head picks a side; I support the underdog.

jux: He asked you if you had run the track in real life because he has. His words have quite a bit more weight than your ramblings about a couple of low-grade videos.

He didn't say he drove the track. (maybe he did). He only asked if I'd been there. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a vid is worth millions. If their is any questions just take a look. At many Web Videos of the real thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoV2gZdhr6g&NR=1 For 50 or even 100 dollars a game, (sim) developers could do a whole lot better of simulating real track conditions. Especially if they claim to be a real simulator and charge the highest end prices. P.S. I missed the part where sibkin says he's just copying the iRacing track? All he has to do is import the actual track from Google Earth, into "Bobs Track builder". Then check out the real videos for bumps and details. If he wanted to donate the time and work.
Howie's blind rage about all things iRacing continues. Sun rises in east, sets in west. News at 11.

Howie47:

Guess you missed the TWO video links that clearly show the real track? Or you wouldn’t have asked if I’d been their. “iRacing version is pretty darn accurate”, depends on what you consider accurate. They both look cartoonish compared to the video of the real thing. Neither have enough variation in color, lighting, detail and texture to look real. Which is do to the artistic abilities & time of the graphic artist and the abilities of the graphics engines. Considering the price difference. Free verses 15-25USD. The rFactor version is champ by far.

Howie, this track is free in IRacing.

We all got the point long time ago, you cannot afford the IRacing.
Please stop ranting about the price.

you might be aware of the fact that those videos you posted are run in reverse, like this one, but it show another variation of the lighting, very similar to IRacing.

Besides, what does price have to do with which version is better? Of course the iRacing version beats the rFactor track hands down, because the rFactor version is just a copy of the iRacing track without all the detail, as the track creator said earlier.

Guess you missed the TWO video links that clearly show the real track? Or you wouldn’t have asked if I’d been their. “iRacing version is pretty darn accurate”, depends on what you consider accurate. They both look cartoonish compared to the video of the real thing.

He asked you if you had run the track in real life because he has. His words have quite a bit more weight than your ramblings about a couple of low-grade videos.

fpol: Dunno if you’ve been there Howie, but iRacings version of Jefferson is really pretty darn accurate in terms of lighting. When in the sim it literally reminds me of a mid Summer trackday.

sibkin, WOW, for a first try on making a track I'm impressed!

sure, IRacing has people who scan, model the track, people who work on the visual art.

But for a single person with bob's track builder that's a pretty decent track. About the same level of detail as you get in GTL.
If you improve the road textures it would make a huge deal!

Great job!

PS. Can you make a GTR Evo version?

unklepepper:
That’ll be why its called rFactor then!
I think somepeople always forget a very important point, iRacing is made by a team of people with a healthy budget and detailed access to the circuits to build tracks for sale.
Guys making tracks for rF or any other modable sim dont have any of those things, in some cases you could do a track day but that is not cheap and they do it for free.
Good work on this Sibkin, I enjoyed this track when I had iR so I cant wait to try it.

Thank you unklepepper.
Your opinion has good point.

Hi, all
1st, I should tell you , I`m sorry for my poor English.
I am surprised and that my video was introduced here.
And an opinion is shaken by many people and thinks delightfully.
This track is My 1st try to making track.
So, I am using only BTB and AIWCamEditor.
I don`t use Original object.
This track consists of only BTB`s preset objects and textures.
Can I win iRacing tracks?
I never think so.
iRacing staff went to the spot and scan terrain.
I have not been Summit Point.
I got information from video and iRacings replay.
I never can make same level.
I am glad if many rFactor users enjoy it.
Thank you all.

Pretty decent "youtube scanned" version of this track.
Road surface needs more work though.
