SRT – Thrustmaster TX One Review

The guys over at InsideSimRacing.tv have posted their video review of the Thrustmaster TX One wheel.

While Thrustmaster’s newest Ferrari-licensed product is primarily aimed at Xbox One users, the wheel is PC compatible as well.

Let me guess, the review is mindlessly sycophantic and offers no real honest insight.

    • Justin Schmidt

it’s funny how he scores the 458 rim. first he says it feels cheap, too light. then he would give it a C in school grades. then a 7 out of 10 points. it goes from bad to fairly good.

      • Harry Tulloch

LOL a 7 is not a C get it together ISR

      • Matt Orr

        Yea, it’s a B- by 1%.

      • William David Marsh

        Erm… a 7 is 70%, which is 1% away from a D+…

  • Anonymous

Yup…another guess..ehmmm, is there any conflit in the HIGH rated review of this wheel, and the fact Thrustmaster sponsors ISR?!?…no i’m sure it’s just a coincidence….

    • Harry Tulloch

Its because they don’t really get along with fanatec (hence why they don’t use any of there products like the clubsports they where running with) they have to rate thrustmaster high because no one else is bringing out anything new to the table **logitec**

  • The Dark

Cool another episode full of info about PC hardcore sim raci…….. oh no wait….

  • Ioannis

Can they claim it’s a replica when: “28 cm XXL size (7/10ths of the original)”
and the paddle shifters are wheel mounted when in reality are not?

  • Arie Beuker, de

    Looks good, no denial.
I am just not prepared to pay for “the prancin’ horse”.
Rather keep those things off so the price stays lower.
I personally could not care less about these things, i want quality, a Ferrari logo does not add or give me confidence. In fact, the logo makes me doubt because it looks like a “sweetener” instead of a substantial addition to quality.

  • GamerMuscle

    The base is 30% smaller ! ?

    • Realkman666

Don’t spell it like that, goddammit.

    • Smithaz

You get more sense out of them if you watch it with sound off.

    • F1Racer

Haha, thats brilliant. I bet they will love it :)

But yeah I`d check the dictionary for ‘peddles’ though as that means something totally different :D
(Dare I add that ‘worse’ should be ‘worst’ ? :->)

  • Realkman666

Cheap wheel, two pedals, Ferrari markup, 400$.

  • Michael Hornbuckle

Do People still watch this? Really? They used to love Fanatec gear until Darrin went to work for them for like two weeks…now they don’t use or review Fanatec gear and are sponsored by Thrustmaster…You can give up hope of ever getting an unbiased review of sim gear from these guys anymore.

Back when ISI was a big sponsor of their show it was a given that an rfactor car would hold the top spot on the list of best simulated cars. Now that iracing is their sponsor you can’t get them to say a word about rfactor2 or Assetto Corsa.

Now that they only review console crap and Jessica is no longer around in her dresses that were a couple sizes to small I just don’t get why anybody would even watch anymore.

    • GamerMuscle

I watch it for Shawn Cole as he is the only man within sim-racing with more sex appeal than niels heusinkveld.

      • Realkman666

        He’s no Tom Haake.

  • Anonymous

These guys are no longer dependable IMHO. At least Jessica was Honest…LOL and very cute!

    • Kendra Jacobs

He said best on consoles.. he said it like 2 or 3 times, then he also said forza is his fave besides iracing, rfactor 2 and assetto corsa.

  • Kendra Jacobs

He keeps going on about how its ffb is so good with fm5 and thats why he likes forza 5 so much now. Well that doesnt change the fact that forza 5 is still crap physics. Just because Forza devs and thrustmaster did a really good job tuning the game’s and wheel’s ffb for eachother doesnt change its crap physics, same physics wether u use a tm tx or a $20 no ffb wheel.

I’m wondering how many of you guys have used this wheel before you give them such a hard time? I’m betting not that many. I’m also betting that because it larges discusses a console game the scorn is being poured on in buckets. PC sim racing elitism at it’s best. You really do give the sim racing community a bad name. I race both console and PC and really can’t understand why you do it. I have the wheel have used it on FM5, rfactor 2, Asseto Corsa, PCars and have found the ffb to be excellent, way better than with my T500rs and even a little better than my CSR Elite. It’s very strong, does subtle effects really well but were it really shines is in how smooth it is. It’s a dream to use. The pedals are crap but a friend made me an adaptor so that I can use my CSP’s and I have swapped out the standard rim for the GTE add on rim. That together as a package I prefer to use on PC over my T500rs and CSR Elite. However, you lot will probably ignore that and keep bashing away ;)

    • Realkman666

I bet it feels nice in reactor 2, because the FFB is very special, but you’re buying a package in which you have to replace the wheel and the pedals. How is that a good deal?

      • Anonymous

As a sim racing fan I would have thought you were after the best experience with money no object. Plus people were attacking his comments about the FFB, that has nothing to do with the package. If people had only been banging on about the package and how bad a deal it was you might have had a point. However, they weren’t, they were slating his comments on the ffb because of who he is and because of what game he mentioned.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

For most of us in the real world, money is indeed an object. A pretty big one.

I am quite curious about the differences between this and a T500…I would use my Fanatec pedals with either one and once I buy the better rim for the TX I’m at the same money as the T500. And once I’m in the ballpark of spending all these hundred dollar bills I might just decide to go all out and look at getting a CSR Elite.

No offense, but when I’m spending hundreds of dollars I want more to go on than one person saying he loves it and a show that is sponsored by Thrustmaster telling me how good it is.

      • Anonymous

Ok so now you have me as well. Who has compared the ffb directly with the T500rs and CSR Elite. All I’m saying is that people seem to be discounting this wheel entirely, solely based on who is reviewing it and what game they mentioned. Does that seem a reasonable basis for deciding how good or bad the wheel is?

      • Realkman666

When this guy is involved, yes. I would forbid him from reviewing my products if I made any.

      • Anonymous

That’s fine but rubbish him, not the product. Do you not see the difference? Just because he says it’s good, doesn’t mean it’s bad. That is my point, many have rubbished the wheel because of the opinion of one person. So just as you shouldn’t believe it is good because of one persons opinion you shouldn’t automatically assume it is bad either.

      • Realkman666

When you pay someone to say something good, you lose credibility. That’s how the world works.

      • Anonymous

Then that means every product in the world must be bad as every business in the world pays advertising revenue to someone. Come on be serious, you can’t rubbish a product based on what someone says or how the manufacturer markets that product.

      • Realkman666

The price is known, the number of pedals is known, and the guy they paid says the wheel feels cheap, what more do you want?

      • Anonymous

Confused. I thought you said you wouldn’t trust anything this guy said. And if he’s on their payroll would you expect him to say the product felt cheap.

      • Realkman666

Yes, I wonder how bad it really is. Must be a catastrophe.

      • Realkman666

It’s all racing games that big boys take too seriously at the end of the day. If I’m going to spend 400$, which I don’t even have at the moment, I don’t expect to have to replace 2/3 of the package. It would be as dumb as buying a prebuilt PC and changing the PSU and GPU and adding RAM. If the FFB is that great, sell the base alone and let people pick the amount of money they’re willing to spend on the rest.
I believe him on the FFB, which is as far as I’ll go, because Darin Gangi is one of the last people I would trust in this world. I don’t know if he ever had any credibility, but with that track record and attitude, not a chance.

  • Chris Wright

Credit where it’s due, I thought Darin’s review was extremely balanced and very well put together. Way to go. A bit like the show used to be.

  • Alan Dallas

If Thrustmaster sold that TX motor base packaged with the Ferrari F1 Wheel instead and that new 3 Pedal set (T3PA was it from the unboxing video?) at the same price point I’d buy it.
