A lot of hate in here.
The only negative thing about it to me is the non-functional streetcar ergonomics of the wheel (bulky “airbag” look) and the buttons and the lack of a nice shifter unit like the G25 has (flawed as it may be, you can’t beat the H/seq switcheroo).
If Fanatec brings us a racing wheel like the nice OMP from the 997 RSR I’ll certainly buy it in combination with the pedals. http://www.virtualr.net/wp-content/gallery/1424/rsrwheel-8.jpg
This one has space for nine buttons and a shiftlight.

When Logitech’s next wheel doesn’t offer more buttons, pressue sensitive braking, racecar ergonomics, adjustable pedals and “next gen” FFB I’ll wait for a nicer/more racecar-like wheel from Fanatec in combination with their epic pedals.

I’m becoming really interested in this wheel too: I’m waitin for new sims to come out and see if the steering wheel will fully support them (I don’t see why it shouldn’t, by the way). When Shift, rF2 and some other titles will be released, I may start to think about the combo (even if I don’t like Porsche, but who cares! ): let’s see what Logitech will bring us with G27 too!

WOW! theres a lot of negativity for this wheel here. This is a relatively cheap wheel for its quality. Most other whels this qality are a lot more expensive. Also your not forced to buy the extra bits for it. I might buy one of these wheels in a few months but I am waiting to see what Logitech does first.

Also its pure stupidity to not want a wheel because you want to race DTM but the wheel has a porsche badge on it. When I am using my G25 I dont concentrate on my wheel I concentrate on the road which you should be doing. If you concentrate on the road you wont notice that its a porsche wheel.

I’d buy it if I was in need of a wheel, adjustable settings on the fly and the pedals looks great.

If Fanatec wheels doesn’t have bolt holes to bolt’em to Playseat Evo, I don’t see any reason that I ever buy their wheels.

I’ll wait that G27 comes out and replace my present G25 with that.

I get your idea first of all but why not just pull of the badge, leave it like that or buy a MOMO sticker or whatever and throw that on instead of the Porsche badge :) If it's a good wheel/deal why let it be ruined because of a badge you can throw away?

As ermax18 says the wheel can be clamped to a desk just fine. I find the clamping mechanism very good as it sits well (as long as you don’t try to tilt the wheel toward you) and it’s very easy to loosen it when you need the space for other things.

The GT3-combo does not include any shifter (except the paddles) – guess that’s why they didn’t test it.

The wheel doesn’t need to be bolted to a rig. It will clamp to a desk just like any other wheel out there. The G25 is the same. It can be clamped to a desk or you can hard mount it. The G25 was also $299 when it first came out.

I do agree they should have reviewed the shifter a little though.

I’ve watched more than a couple of their shows now but I couldn’t disagree more on some of the ratings they were coming up for this wheel.

When us casual racers do splash out on steering wheels we go for the higher priced wheels because we want quality, but make no mistake, we do not have the budget of full blown sim-racers because of this. Not everybody has a “sim-rig”, and after shelling out so much for a GT3 wheel, I’m not going to have any left in the bank for another £300 piece of scaffold to bolt the GT3 just so I can use it. Therefore it’s bad value. Not 90+, more like 50. They are not thinking about the scale of these problems.

One last thing, how about using the equipment that actually comes with the wheel when testing it. That includes the original gear shifter, *hint* not the third party model brought separately.

A good idea would be to rate it again, but only with the things that come with the purchase. Not the sim-rig, not the expensive shifter. Then you’ll find out why the G25 beats fanatec’s products in nearly all fields.

Too bad the pedals are so expensive when you buy them seperate, i would like to combinate it with the G25 wheel + shifter…
