The Indycar has the best sounds from iRacing yet? Strongly disagree, it sounds appalling from the outside! The Radical/C6R is the best that iRacing offers in sounds imo, but still not anywhere near what rFactor provides.
But I suppose the most expensive package has to top the list, just to keep repose.

They’ve got to justify spending that much money on iRacing by inflating the iRacing ratings. Over all the cars just are not that impressive. Just automatically shave 10-15 points from the top of all the iRacing cars, and you’ll get a fairer comparison with others.

Watched this yesterday… Can’t remember what it was about. But I did have sweet dreams afterwards.

SRT is providing reviews for the community, not for fanboys. Sure giving the highest scores to the sim with the fewest users is unpopular. The fanboys of other sims hate it. In fact iRacing is the sim people love to hate for a variety of reasons.
Kudos to SRT for giving honest reviews instead of pandering to the largest community of users.
I’m sure if enough of you complain eventually they’ll go for website ratings instead of honesty. Keep trying to bag on iRacing and SRT reviews.
Kudos for SRT to giving their honest opinion to a sim with less than 5% marketshare. The reviews are ticking off the iRacing haters though, that’s apparent.
Shave off 10 to 15 points and you’re somehow unbiased? It never ends.

I used rfactor for several years and i was a big fan but i now use iracing and i admit iracing s indycar and C6R are the best cars at the moment in the sim racing world
Great show as always

You must be new here.
Howie writes two kind of posts, either praising NFS Shift or bashing iRacing.
Personally I like the core of iRacing. I think it has very good physics, ffb and track accuracy, good graphics and okay sounds. But I dont like the concept of accessing a web page to play a game you are basically renting. I like the old ways of getting a DVD in a plastic box and doing what ever I want with it.

Absolutely spot on. Whats worse is that the addon cars and tracks that you “buy” cant be accessed if you dont renew your subscription. Pisses me off that I spent heaps on content but cant even hotlap or practice with it without giving them their 15 bucks a month.

Yeah, I don’t post here often. He’s probably pretty ticked then that Forza 3 got higher scores than NFS Shift. I’ve seen the dramatic posters on many forums. Nothing new.
The iRacing business model won’t work for everyone, but if you can afford it, the racing can be pretty special, but you need to enjoy online racing. No AI racing at all.
It’s an interesting model. rFactor might net $30 maybe after packaging and distribution etc for 200,000 titles sold. That’s maybe $6 million over 3 years or so. iRacing “per customer” might net $200 per customer times 10,000 customers over 3 years for $6 million, but I think the upside is greater.
iRacing continues to grow and rFactor2 may be challenged to get to 200,000 users. rFactor2 could be amazing. I believe it’s the only real challenger long term in the hardcore space. LFS and NetKar don’t have the development orgs and GTR2 has seen better days. We’ll see though. Things change.
iRacing is more expensive, but if you can afford $20 a month or so, it’s amazing and getting better with each update. Anyone who spends that much on their sim racing tends to be pretty serious about it, so the competition is top notch.

Is it “cool” to not like iRacing? Because, if so, I must be really “uncool”. lol
Why do people dislike SRT? They do a review show for the community and it’s entertaining. I like that show, those guys are actual simmers and have turned there passion for cars into a show. Good on them.

I’m “uncool” too. I also agree that I’ve always loved SRT. Good guys without pretentious egos doing a fun show about a hobby we all love. They enjoy sim racing period. All kinds. Yeah, they rate some products higher than others, but they’re giving their honest opinions and always have good things to say about any title. They make very reasonable comments.
Great show!

I don’t think anybody has got that much angst about the show, it’s just those damn ratings. The very fact they exist invokes that one thing must be better than the other disregarding personal opinion. They tried to fix it by making a weighted scoring system, which was a good idea but it just looks messy with the decibel points.
But you know, no such thing as bad publicity… They certainly give us something to talk about every show it seems, even if it’s going to be mostly negative.

Exactly. Darin and Shaun are passionate sim racers who are dedicated to the community.
The rating system, even with its excessive decimal points, is designed to stir conversation and evoke emotion. Mission accomplished.
People talk about every episode of SRT. That’s better than being ignored. And honestly, I don’t think Shaun and Darin deliberately inflate or deflate ratings just to get a rise out of people. They both seem to be very honest dudes.

I disagree regarding your first point. Reviews, by nature, are mostly personal opinion.
Scores don’t invoke something “must” be better, just what the two reviewers think. All reviews are based on personal opinion. The guys on SRT seem pretty down the middle and give good points, bad points, personal opinion, etc.. It seems pretty balanced to me. Maintaining 100% objectivity at all times is not part of human nature. No matter what is said on the show, somebody out there is going to dislike something about it. We are all different and can’t expect reviews to please everybody.
Somebody above stated they don’t see how they can take this show seriously. What about the show is so disheartening? The rating systems with regards to the decimals is a little wierd, but other than that, I don’t really see anything wrong with the show.
It *seems* like some folks here dislike the basis of iRacing so much they let it cloud their judgement involving anything even remotely connected to it. If you don’t like iRacing, fine, but don’t automatically dislike SRT because they do.

Can’t agree more. iRacing has less than 5% marketshare. If they wanted to pander to the largest market they sure wouldn’t be giving higher scores to iRacing.
It’s their honest opinion and they do it in the face of a lot of fans of other sims. Kudos the SRT for trying to provide an objective opinion, which should be looked at as a great service to the sim community, but often if a users favorite sim isn’t winning then SRT must be wrong.
Sad, but that’s the way some people look at it. Others, who race GTR2,or rFactor or NetKar or LFS or Shift or Forza etc may decide to check out iRacing and see for themselves. They view it as just one more data point. Some PC gamers may decide to look at Forza 3 and some console racers may decide to check out iRacing or an rFactor mod or Netkar or whatever.
Some people take the information SRT gives and digest it. Others spit it out with disgust and try to invalidate SRT’s reviews calling them a joke etc. That’s the nature of internet forum posts. :-)
Lastly, the internet spans the ages from 12 to 70. It’s hard to tell sometimes who’s who. Big difference in maturity levels on internet forums.

Well to be honest my post did not have anything to do whatsoever with the rating system or even liking or disliking iracing. I also didn’t say some parts of the show arent serious or that the guys making the show arent serious about what they are doing. It’s just quite a couple of reasons make it verry difficult for me to take this serious and alot of the comments here give me the feeling im right about it (and again I’m not talking about comments concerning the ratings or pro-conte iracing).

The initial part of my post was in response to the post by Carbonfibre. I sort of spoke to that post, your post, and the general tone in the thread at different times. Nothing was really directed at anybody specificially. My one question to you revolved more around clarification about your response regarding the seriousness of SRT.
I hope that clarifies things more.

Agreed.
I enjoy SRT because they have a general passion for the hobby as well as the real-life sports involved. They have always seemd to cover a rather broad range of topics and do so pretty objectively.
