Thanks for lying about the release date of Race On

Their forums are pretty empty and Youtube is for typing practise, but I’ll leave a quick comment here instead.

I like the new TopGear inspired top cars list, although I have no idea what part of TopGear they think they are getting ideas from. It certainly isn’t the cool wall or reasonably priced lap times.

But they asked for feedback and I’m just saying that if you have to do the non-linear points system I actually agree with wieght on all of the subjects, in particular for the sounds (worth 15) because sounds often make or break a ‘keeper’ car for me, and it matters much more than other category’s but not as much as physics, i.e. the supra is proof of that. *hint*

They are getting better at these I think although I can’t stand the audio level issues between inserts. Please normalize your audio tracks before you encode!

Lets see what else… glad you went back to the G27 but it didn’t really change my opinion and besides it’s £329.99 in the UK so **** it, lol. Remember to cover NFS shift when its out and maybe try get Gjon Camaj on there to update on rFactor 2

I’ll be watching every episode as it comes out, although I’m not a subscriber whatever that does.

Carbonfibre – Thanks for the comments here. We were going to have a Top Gear style track to test on but that didn’t make sense across all the sims. So we left that part out. That part may come into play soon though..

Although I’m a big TG fan I didn’t get the TopGear link either lol. But no need for that really. The new segment is good in its own right. It’s actually quite informative and may urge some simracers try a different sim or a different type of racing.

PS: F575 sounds are REALLY BAD. The quality is good, but I’m sure they were recorded from a road going version. It’s nothing like the GT1 racer. Most of Simbin’s cars sound like the street versions.

About the audio normalizing; it all depends on which editing software you are using to put these together. Since I’m a Sony Vegas follower I know you can do this very simply by right clicking the audio track > properties and ticking the Normalize box. It’s nothing advanced it just raises the volume so the highest peak on that clip is the maximum volume. I imagine since your show is segmented like that it would work quite nicely although it’s quite tedious to check all the clips.

The more professional method I guess would be to use a program that goes through the whole thing automatically raising quiet sections via some volume envelope. However that’s an extra step you can only do once you encode the whole audio track, drag it into another program, carry out the task and drag back into your editing software. I think it’s all a little too much work when time is of the essence, I’ve never explored it because the default options in Vegas are more than suitable.

You get the noise gate and other filters in Vegas you can apply also which is very useful for killing extra noise on bad recordings but often needs to be mixed with an ambient soundtrack to muffle the sudden drops into silence.

Not to be a fanboy but Sony Vegas is king of speed editing and compatibility, and I’ve used nearly all the major editing suites, I still can’t understand why the industry insists on using Avid (in the UK) it’s a bit like Microsoft, advantage by market dominance, and it doesn’t help the fact Vegas has been tainted by a lot of editing noobs on youtube who splatter their videos with default effects.

But for a professional workstation that will be spieling out a program every 10 days, I wouldn’t recommend anything else.

I managed to watch it all this time, probably due to the fact there wasn’t “Sim Rigs for under $1,000″. Definitely enjoyed the Top Sim Car segment, would love to see the V8 Factor rated! If there is a slight criticism, I thought you spent a bit too long explaining how the segment would work, but again definitely enjoyed it.

I really like the “Top Gear” segment idea. But your going to have your hands full with, “Shift”, “Dirt2″, “Forza” and “GT5″ all coming out! Maybe you should do the “Bugatti Veyron” since 3 of them seem to have it! Good way to compare the 3 games physics also.
Jessica is more then a vibrant woman. She does a great job with her segments. I’d much rather watch her then those other two semi ugly mugs. No offense guys.

i like watching the ISR episodes. but the boobs and legs are annoying. it’s not working like with the halfnaked girlies at conventions and stuff, at least in my humble opinion. and even they are annyoing..

Learning to read with comprehension is an important part of growing up. Clearly, you skipped it.
Not only is my nickname not senskekmet (boy, is Sekhmet angry now ) but I also did not write that I wanted to punch anyone.
Again, internet is a truly wonderful place: someone call tell you to ‘shut up’ and not risk having their nose broken (this time I wrote it) for being a rude ****.

I agree with your views on Jessica – she does indeed do a great job – but I do think Darin has a hint of George Clooney in his appearance :)

Carbon: Thanks for the tips we use Vegas as well and have since the begining and love it.. We just jumped right in and learned as we went.. I will look into “nornalizing” the next show to see how it comes out.

Thanks for a good show, once again. Even though it is in some aspects a bit amateurish, it’s still very nice to have such a show about everyone’s favorite hobby. So thank you. :) You guys are doing a great job. My comments:

- The idea of the “Top Sim Cars of All Time” is cool. But as someone else has stated, the introduction was a bit long, messy and confusing. Keep it simple. ;) It encouraged me to try out the IndyCar mod for rFactor (a type of racing I wouldn’t normally do).

- For that segment, definitely consider using one or more of the cars from the HistorX mod, perhaps the 911. The mod drives perfectly and has all the little details you could want from an rFactor mod. Also, the newly released Supra is worth considering. Not trying to be too biased towards rFactor, but you have to rely on the fact that so many great mods have been released for it.

- Please quit the “Cole Little” spot you got going with Shaun in the Lakers jacket… it’s just not funny and we have seen it enough (I don’t remember if it was even in this episode, but it has been in previous episodes many times).

- PLEASE make a special episode dedicated to comparing Forza 3 to Gran Turismo 5 when both games are out! :) I will so be looking forward to this.

- Where did Shaun’s tech tips go? The bit about camber and caster was very useful to me. Maybe if you could somehow do a whole “setup guide”, with tips and demonstrations on how to setup cars in sims. I know I could use that and I’m sure many else could too. When you play online (in rFactor, that is), you often see guys almost demanding that someone sends them setups. If you guys could do kind of like a setup guide, I think many people could learn a lot from that.

Just my comments, anyhow. Keep doin’ yo thang! PS: Jessica is perfect.
