Apex Modding is working on a 2007 version of the Belgian Spa Francorchamps track for rFactor. Back in 2007, the track was majorly overhauled, including a new pit building as well as a changed layout for the famous Bus Stop and La Source corners.
Below is a preview video, showing a lap around the new track. Simply click on the image to get to the video.

Man, Spa really does look dull with all the extra tarmac run off now
Well done to Apex for making it realstic though
One issue, the FOV on that bonnet cam really does make half the corners really streched out. The corvette video gives a much better perspective of the layout.

Nice you guys try to remake the latest SPA.
Just a regular complaint, as with most mod & tracks!
Where is the highlights and shadows!!!
Makes everything look much to flat!
The extra light and shades can be done on the textures themselfs, so would not give any performance hit.
Have a look at the Cola tower, all the red is completely flat.
The tents and buildings on the oposite also have no darker parts where the sun would be blocked and cast shadows.
Most race-sim-modders are number crunchers, but lack decent graphic skills.
So wait a little with releasing and first get the graphics right.
A epic track like SPA deserves some more attention.

What happened to the elevation changes? There is a lack of feel/sensation (missing ‘vertigo effect’) in this regard, especieally the ‘plunge’ down going toward and into Eau Rouge. Maybe it’s just the way it looks on video and it really is all there in actual driving. Thanks for this ongoing effort.

Eddie, its because of the camera FOV. If you look on the rFc page, there is a video of an earlier version with the Z06.

Something seems very wrong with this version. It’s too wide, and the elevation changes are almost non-existent in some places.
The best version out there is still Spa GTL, but it would require a little chicane editing and widening of Eau Rouge.

The track is not too wide and the elevations are the exact ones. The layout is based on the official track maps and GPS coordinates. The video looks strange because of the divx player (too wide, it looks like 20/9). You have to open the video in windowed mode to see the correct resolution.

The track is ok, but everything of the track is just bad.
It looks flat and unrealistic.

Spa GTL is the best version but it has a major bug in Eau Rouge and the final chicane isn’t accurate.
But this looks very promising and I can’t wait to drive it soon.
