SLI-PRO Steering Wheel Display – Demonstration Video

Back in October, Leo Bodnar unveiled his newest hardware creation by showing us his SLI-PRO unit that gives steering wheel modders a powerful and feature-rich data display.

The SLI-PRO comes with two six-digit displays and a gear indicator, 13 RPM LEDs and six info LEDs at the bottom. The display is connected via USB, offers a connector for five external LEDs and lots of inputs for buttons, switches and two independent clutch pedals.

The display sells for 100 British Pounds (around 110€) on Leo Bodnar’s website, below is an extensive demonstration video by EK Simracing who provide the software for the display.

110€ for this? …. sorry, it doesn’t have expensive logo like “Ferrari” or “Adidas”. 30 for materials, 20 for work. 60 for what?

I like how you calculated all that as if it were absolute fact.
Are you saying you’d pay €110 for it if it had a well know branded logo ?
heh, big corporations love people like that. The buying public is soooo gullible which is why loads of people have ipods (but thats a different story).

Right, the video… could’ve done without the music really, kinda pointless on a video like this.
But what I want to know is can the lap timer hold the split times and final lap time for a few seconds so you can see them on the display ?
I noticed it conveniently cut away twice just before reaching sector points so we never got a chance to see. So I suspect it won’t.
For me that’s a make or break feature. I want a device like that to show me my sector times even if its only for 3-4s.
If it can be made to do that, I’m definately interested.

I doubt it… look at 3:37 in the video where he crosses the S/F line… wondered the same thing
Oh, and tbh when I saw the price I really did think that it actually was kind of cheap. I mean you could argue that you’d get a wheel for that amount of money, but surely the customers are the same ones as the same customers who pay around 1k € for a steering wheel and probably have a cockpit.
You can kinda compare it to the Flight Simmers. There are ppl who buy a 10€ joystick and have fun in their Boeing (probably doing loopings and flying under bridges j/k), then there are ppl like me who have a yoke and then there are ppl who build their 100% model of an Airbus 340 cockpit in their garage. And those ppl pay a lot of money to get all the displays etc. They’d probably think that this steering wheel display is a bargain. Then again they are often retired dentists or lawyers :P

Meh, writing at 2.30 am and not having an edit button in Opera sucks  :weird:

I just got mine the other day. Nice! I hooked it up the night I got it, and using EK’s SLI-Pro Manager while running in iRacing, it was holding the completed lap time for about 10-15 seconds after completion – plenty of time to look at it after crossing the line.

I ran it for a bit in rFactor using the plugin, but to be honest, I didn’t pay attention. I suppose I can hook it up again tomorrow to verify whether it displays the laps, splits, or both.

Dammmit!! ANd now it worth 110 eur, with all that features! The vido is kinda lack of details….very poor.

  • http://racingrenders.com F1Racer

Yeah its definately worth the purchase. Still a little curious about how it displays the split times. I wouldnt want it to just show split times.
Much prefer it to be showing me the lap timer in real time then stopping for a few seconds at each sector to show the split.

If it does that, I’m in as soon as I have the readies which might take a while as Im still working on my car and just bought a new laptop.
But its on my shopping list.

  • Roso

F1Racer, software developer EK is very communicative, and he implements new ideas (if they are good) really fast, like one day or so. If you think something could be done just say on his forum, guy is genius! Leo’s new displays have the best customer support imaginable.

  • http://racingrenders.com F1Racer

I can quite believe it mate. It’s very impressive.

  • jcchaconjr

F1Racer, I can confirm after trying it in both iRacing and rFactor Test/Practice modes that it holds the last completed lap time for 15 seconds when in the “Current Lap Time” mode described above.
