SimRaceWay – Mclaren MP4/26 Available

SimRaceWay continues with their “Mclaren Month” as a new car from the legendary British manufacturer has been added to their online racing simulation.

Following two historic cars, SRW users can now purchase a current Formula One car as the MP4/26 is now available.

As explained by SimRaceWay a while ago, their car prices are based on a fraction of the car’s real world value, making the MP4/26 a rather expensive affair as the car comes with a $20 price tag.

The base content of SimRaceWay is free for everyone to try, giving players access to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X as well as Mid Ohio, Infineon Raceway & Zandvoort. Additional content is available for purchase with prices ranging from a few cents to several dollars.

The title puts an emphasis on online racing, using a real-time skill matching system to offer close racing. Like SimRaceWay’s past website that was based on rFactor & other simulations, the new title will again be offering paid online races where players have to pay an entry fee to compete, free online events are available as well.

20$ for a single car?? They must be joking here

  • Big Ron

That must be a joke. Their explanation of the car prices isn´t very comprehensible since we all know they calculated the ration with an eye on all the expensive race cars out there to get this high values.

I wonder how they get the licenses for these cars.

  • General Rush Hour

    Pre-season version?

More expensive than iRacing FW31? Check.
    Low participation? Check.
    Terrible online experience? Check.

    What could possibly go wrong?

  • Marco Hooghuis

Same way they got Mid-Ohio? ;)
No they have an actual McLaren license.

  • Marco Hooghuis

And you thought iRacing was expensive…

You earn credits for doing laps in SRW so you could get this car without paying a cent.  Lots of haters commenting here that probably haven’t tried SRW.  Not saying it’s great but it’s obvious the haters haven’t tried it.

pretty cheap according for the price range(1 Dollar = 1.000.000 Dollar IRL) Sure this car would have cost more like 200 Dollar.

Still, even according to this scematics the car isnt worth the money at all.

  • Koen Calleyl

It’s the pre-season version with the Australian Front Wing setup

    how many laps, exactly?

I wonder how they got any of it.   How did they get the first dollar for this guff?

Well, I think they’re much better at marketing and making things look ‘good’ than they are at delivering a real race-game.   They’re 3rd party content developers…….modders.   Congrats to them for giving it a go, I suppose, but I don’t see their position as helpful or enviable.  Is anyone in the supposed ‘virtual racing community’ benefiting from this rehash of rFactor?   Well, anyway, I think they are in for a surprise if they think they can compete with iRacing.  What *are* they thinking?   And how can they pay for all these things?

Frankly I found their response over the (seemingly now abandoned) laser-scanning of tracks to be quite dishonest.  For me it confirmed they are a bunch of shysters……caring more about marketing and selling than about actually delivering something better for hobbyists. For instance……why do none of the people they show using their stuff use their own stupid wheel?  If it’s that good…..right?  Ah well.

And if you bought it, what are you going to do with it?

    Hotlap……on your own?

    Amazing.

If they were able to deliver a serious weekly league where cars molded on the Mclaren were sporting different liveries and a group of 20+ racers met and raced competitively in my time zone, $20 would not be too high a price for me.

As things stand, where every car looks the same and to day I haven’t been able to race a “Challenge” (their name for races) with more than 3 people in it, me excluded.

I actually happen to like some of their mods. They have a UC Berkley car that is a blast to drive and their tracks are pretty well made, but lapping by myself is something I can suffer for only so long without some sort of ultimate goal in mind.

I raced a Formula Renault at Indy road last night, amazed that I found two other people on track.

The race was 3 laps long and I was 14 seconds per lap faster than the runner up. Anyone that has raced with me has to know that you have to have your car in reverse to have me ahead by 14 seconds on any track.

I think SRW has possibilities, but they are moving very slowly and they are catering to a demographic that may or may not exist  in the quantity necessary to turn a profit.

Does this F1 car can be as realistic and perfect in terms of physics as Formula Reiza’s Game Stock car?  I very much doubt it…

Does this F1 car can be as realistic and perfect in terms of physics as Formula Reiza’s Game Stock car?  I very much doubt it… In fact the drive of the Camaro in the GSC is much higher with respect to any car (Dodge Charger T e.g.) SRW similar Street.

    20$ is too mutch

They have the licence for the mp4-27, so people are gonna pay a other 20$ because the mp4/26 will not be used in the league when the beta will end.

considering for each hotlap in Lancer I got 5 credits, and considering 10 credits is a cent, you’d need to make exactly 4000 hotlaps to get that McLaren…. That’s not exactly what I call handy amount. I personally tried a bit of the lancer and it seemed OK I also got the kart (5 cent 10 laps). Oh and just to your notice 4000 laps would be not counting any mistakes (small mistake leads to going off track which leads to invalidating the laptime, therefore making that lap go to waste credit wise) so I’d say it’s more like 4500+ laps total if you really would try to get the McLaren. I don’t know ANYONE brave or stupid enough to do something like that :)

Just to stay clear I’m not taking sides on if I like the game or not, just stating the facts of the credit earning

Well said, I only tried SRW for an hour or two months ago and have the same feeling.
Not bad, definitely not, but not interesting enough.
Oh, and absurd prices too :/

  • Anonymous

    4500 laps x 1.5 minutes per lap = 6750 minutes.

112.5 hours driving or 4 and 1/2 days solid driving to get it?

  • Richard Hessels

It looks like you have a personal vendetta going against Simraceway.

That’s the only time you come to comment here?

    Pathetic…

  • Anonymous

Did you get any server stutters when you tried hot lapping?

  • Anonymous

That’s pretty accurate :) I’d say it would take at least 3-4 months of hotlapping some track with 1 car to actually get that 112.5h of driving in :) Go ahead if you’re crazy enough, I know I’m not :)

In all honesty if I was to go for any of the F1 licenced cars I’d probably pay for subscription in iRacing and get the Williams with few tracks. I don’t think this McLaren worth 20 dollars as it is now, but that’s my personal opinion.

You have a personal urge to defend them?  Pathetic?

  • Boss Player

simraceway the trolls of sim racing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Ford/100001922734704 Steve Ford

    I got no such thing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Ford/100001922734704 Steve Ford

Yes its too much.  If nobody pays, they won’t make any money off of it.  There are lots of cars that are under a dollar.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Ford/100001922734704 Steve Ford

Nah, last I checked SRW doesn’t have 2FMSH.

  • Anonymous

Not selling it for $20, clearly ;)

I don’t see the benefit of having every single year of their F1 cars. You’re just spreading the drivers looking for a modern F1 car into 4+ separate groups meaning less participation in any single car, and bleeding people for money. And that assumes they put even half the effort into modeling the cars. One car a week is enough effort to give a well simulated car in the rFactor engine?

It isn’t a coincidence that basically every other sim picks and chooses a smaller range of cars. Quality over quantity… for everyone except SRW. They would rather charge a couple hundred dollars for half-ass versions of an entire range from a manufacturer. If people are dumb enough to pay that much for near copies of cars, they would be dumb not to take their money…

  • Anonymous

If they had a RWD car included in the base package, I would try it and tell you ;)

Must have been a temporary server issue, then. Not sure why it should have mattered, server shouldn’t slow the game on my end and change laptimes. Everyone hotlapping when I was on was also complaining about it.

Might give it a try again, see if it has gone away.

  • Anonymous

I didn’t ‘hate’ on it until I tried it. Even free it wasn’t worth my time…

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

Anyone up for a “120 hours of Sebring” endurance?

    lol

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

I think they should stop sponsoring Radio Lemans.

This could serve two purposes, #1 Cheaper cars for all via less outgoings. #2 I don’t have to hear about the service every ten minutes during a race. lol

If I was this site’s owner, I probably would have called it a day some time ago. Too much cost and effort for me to read little bickering bitches pouring their wounded souls over video games. EVERY single issue, especially if it involves subjective judgement, is fought over like a bunch of kindergarteners. rF2 visuals this, pCARS physics that, blaablaablaa. Just give it a rest already, cheesus christ! Some of you have way too much time on your hands.
