SimRaceWay – Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 Available

Ignite Skill Gaming has added the newest car to their free-to-play SimRaceWay title as the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is now available for purchase.

Part of SimRaceWay’s licensing deal with Mclaren, the MP4-12C GT3 can be bought for $4.32

Powered by a 3.8 liter V8 bi-turbo engine, the MP4-12C is build to the FIA GT3 regulations based on the MP4-12C road car. The car made its competition debut in the British GT Championship last year and went on to compete in various events, including the Spa 24 Hours race. The car became an instant success as all 20 cars built for the 2012 season have already been sold to customers.

The base content of SimRaceWay is free for everyone to try, giving players access to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X as well as Mid Ohio & Zandvoort. Additional content is available for purchase with prices ranging from a few cents to several dollars.

The title puts an emphasis on online racing, using a real-time skill matching system to offer close racing. Like SimRaceWay’s past website that was based on rFactor & other simulations, the new title will again be offering paid online races where players have to pay an entry fee to compete, free online events are available as well.

People actually buys this? Serious question.

  • Ricoo

Probably but it can also be earned with free event points (but you need to do a lot of laps for that).

  • http://www.facebook.com/paul.menard2 Paul Menard

i got 5dollars free  cos i signed up during the daytona 24hours :)

I actually like the Simraceway game. What I don’t like is that in my time zone it’s almost always empty, the cars had the same livery, the “events” are a bit boring and the few races they hold only last a few laps. I call that “warming up”.

Otherwise, their Formula car (3 I think) is a very nice car to drive and the tracks are well done. As well done as anything Virtua LM has done. They have the best Infineon on the Gmotor platform.

Most of the cars, by the way are less than $1. Only a few cost more than $4 and quite frankly, for me spending $5 to buy a virtual McLaren is not going to really affect my finances.

I just wish that at least once a week they had a more meaningful race

     free-to-play?
not really.   You get a mediocre Lancer and two tracks for free – everything else is $$$.

Demo for all games are “free-to-play”.   Woooo.   Like that’s really something?

I notice they’re still advertising “laser-scanned tracks”.    Do they even have a single one yet?   How long is this going to go on?

“Feel every bump and camber on our authentic real-world tracks thanks to pro-grade 3D scanning.” <–SRW
    —-

    And whilst they say

"Download Simraceway free-of-charge via our high-speed servers and be racing in minutes  No hidden fees, no catches, just pure online action. "

But that's written next to a picture of a McLaren….which you have to pay for.

    —-
BIG-BRAND CARS Choose from a growing fleet of modern and historic road and race cars made by legendary manufacturers including BMW™, Mitsubishi™, and McLaren™.
    —-

Which you have to pay extra for!  Only they never mention it once at their site.   No hidden fees?
    Rubbish.

I find this all a bit dishonest.  Disingenuous at best.   And not a surprise, going on past experience of SRW.

  • Anonymous

no, i don’t think they do.

  • Anonymous

guys this car comes frome other game…i believe shift2…

  • Ricoo

You are clearly dishonest in your comment since there is 5 free tracks not 2.

In fact all tracks are free for the moment and you can earn for FREE ALL cars if you do enough laps.

A free to play doesn’t mean all is free, those guys also need to make their living.

  • Ricoo

Do you know slander can be prosecuted by law in many countries?

Maybe you could write below your true name.

COTR, you have to analyse the wording in advertising sometimes.
Free to play  -   Well it is.  You can download and play it without spending a penny.  Extras will cost of course.

Download SimRaceWay free of charge – yep, also true. What that means is thet are not charging you to DOWNLOAD it.  This phrase is common on the net especially with commercial packages (i.e. non-freeware).  They`ll tell you its free to download not necessarily free to use.

No hidden fees – well if they put the McLaren etc there with clear shown prices then they’re not hiding anything.

These are common advertising practices and it’s all cleverly worded to ‘big it up’ as it were and make it seem a bit more or a bargain that it actually is.

Don’t forget we’re in a world where they still make prices with .99 because its meant to look cheaper than the price with the 1p added.   11.99 is better than 12.00 for example.
It seems to work too as we say… “ooh guess what, they’ve got the iPhone for £499 in this shop.”  WE don’t even round it off to the £500.

2 for the price of 1 ?  Who are they kidding.  Look at the price of one the see if its exactly half the price – or if they bumped up the price on the one recently :)
    50% extra free !  Riiiight.

It is a form of deceit but we fall for it, accept it and most if it is legal.  Just clever wording.

There is no indication on their website that additional content costs money.

  • Anonymous

You’re calling virtualr dishonest too?   The article says two tracks are available for free ^^^ – have a look.

But if there’s 5 free tracks then fine – there’s 5 free tracks not 2.    The rest stands.

     Any laser-scanned tracks?   No.

Any indication on their site that additional content is charged?  No.   Yet they claim “no hidden charges – no additional fees” alongside a picture of a McLaren and a list of Marques which ***you have to pay an additional fee to obtain***.

You working for them Ricoo or what?

Free to play doesn’t mean free?   Really?

And “they have to make a living”?   Oh big shock – like I never knew.

Like I said, disingenuous, at best.

  • Anonymous

    You mean libel, not slander.

Anyway – nice how Ricoo is throwing around threats of legal action simply for voicing opinion on a game.  lol.   You work for SRW or something Ricoo?  haha

  • Ricoo

If you read regularly comments of VirtualR, you could have noticed I have the strange habit of defending attacked sims whatever they are.

Thanks for libel, I was seeking the right word. :)

  • Ricoo

You are right VirtualR is misguiding about the free number of tracks since not only Mid Ohio & Zandvoort are free, but all tracks are free for now.

  • Anonymous

No, that is pretty much the standard free to play model. Free to play if you have boatloads of time, or pay a bit to get things faster. You can play and get all content 100% free, if you spend enough time grinding laps.

  • Anonymous

    1 mediocre car for free.

“No hidden fees” “no hidden catch” — but no mention on the website that the cars they show cost additional $$$$.

Defend it if you like.   Fact is it’s disingenuous.  You disagree?   Good for you.

“laser scanned tracks” — tell me….how many laser scanned tracks do they have?

  • Anonymous

all tracks?   so they have…..how many tracks?   How many are as advertised – ie  how many are laser-scanned?   Do tell….?

  • Anonymous

Just because it has a price to buy it doesn’t mean you HAVE to pay real money in order to get it. That’s a standard free-to-play micro-transaction model: free if you spend tons of time, or pay us a bit of money to bypass the work.

Not defending anything else of the game, SRW is awful IMO, just a collection of mods.

  • Anonymous

Y, well, people are free to see it however they like.   Like I said, I think it’s disingenuous at best.

Only one car is “free” – not the car they show alongside the claim that it’s free – and not the car marques they list alongside the claim.  They say “no hidden fees” and “no catches” – but nowhere do they mention that you need to pay for the content (other than the mediocre free vehicle).

Is paying more for each car not a hidden fee?  Or racing in one mediocre car for several 000s of laps to obtain an extra car not “a hidden catch”?   I believe it is – because THEY NEVER MENTION THAT THAT IS THE CASE ON THEIR WEBSITE.

But everyone is free to decide their opinion for themselves…..

  • Ricoo

I have already given those informations. It appears you can’t read and understand nothing to nothing.

  • http://profiles.google.com/conticreative Marco Conti

No, I didn’t buy it. I downloaded it for free and I had a couple of afternoons where somehow I was able to earn about $20 by placing in the top 50 of their hot lap competition. Most of the cars only cost less than $1 with some as expensive as $7, but very few. I’d say the average must be around $2 or so.

Are the tracks laser scanned? I don’t know. MH is nicely done and so is Infineon. The others I wouldn’t be able to tell you.

Are they a little bit devious? All “free to play” games have to be. If you join a free to play game and think you can play everything for free you are dreaming. As it is, given the traffic on the service, I have to wonder if they are even paying for rent with what they earn.

I don;t blame anyone for wanting to make a living and building a company, especially if they provide good value in the process. So far SRW has not provided good value enough for me to take a stand and defend them. Once they are able to stage at least a couple of races a week ini my times zone that last more than 5laps and they have the kind of cars and tracks I like, I’ll revise my opinion. For now, I go there if I don’t have a league race, iRacing doesn’t have the races I want and I still have a itch to do something.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to be able to pace against AI for as many laps as they want on pretty decent cars, then SRW is the cheapest way to go ATM. It’s basically rFactor 1 with very good quality mods. The AI is decent and some of the cars drive very nicely. The F3 I mentioned in another post is a very nice car to drive.

Since the game is free to install and play, before reviewing it, it would be a good idea to try it out, then at least you can write an informed review.

comon i´m not stupid…do you wanna see a picture from my rendering the same car, the same reflections…hm also it is the same mesh…it looks like the same car.
only a bit rework on the skin and textures thats all.

    http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=mclarenmp4-12ck7yhn.png

good luck with the car…but i spent not money for that.

  • Anonymous

maybe the modeler is the same for both? :)

  • General Rush Hour

No i have the ability to see what isn´t up to my standard before i buy it.

Buying this would be a waste of money and time. Much respect to the creaters though in these hard times.

Still would not touch it with a stick though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/alless84 Ales Ogrinc

In shift 2 you dont have MP4-12C GT3, there is only some fantasy model but for sure not real GT3. If you made render of that car i wonder where you actually got it becase what you rendered is SRW model.
More stupid as you are right now here nobody cant be, first youre accusing somebody for stealing but youre the one using ripped model that was stolen from SRW!

  • Anonymous

say me when SRW has finished the model.

And i said “i believe”…but i know that model, but not really from where.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/CUBYZUTK4JM42PNYD3EJLEKA2Y Matze

i think that the car is ripped form another conversion for rf2. The Mclaren in this mod comes from  Forza

  • http://www.facebook.com/ArnoldCarterWong Arnold Carter Kingpong Wong

That MP4-12C model is a ripped one from NFS or something and modified it. It’s
the one of the sandrox’s GT3 mod which is ripped from Shift 2. So if SRW’s is
the same model, they rip from ripped things……………….but well………as this company is just a beginner game developer………………it’s possible if you ask me…………

  • Anonymous

sandrox ripped it from SRW (possibly theres also another ripped gt3 out there by sandrox) as he has ripped many other models from many other game. SRW´s model is modeled for SRW game only. If it appears somewhere else it surely has been ripped from SRW.
And you dont have to question about this comment cos I really know it is the original model for SRW.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ArnoldCarterWong Arnold Carter Kingpong Wong

And his modified ripped MP4-12C comes out earlier than the SRW one, so what do you
think?…..And it is not the first time that we can find out contents from the other games or from modders in the SRW game…….

  • Anonymous

Well I know there is this mp4-12c “gt3´ish” from shift2 that someone has ripped and put it in rFactor. If you take that model and SRW´s model and compare them with wireframe mode in 3ds max you will notice that they are not the same.

  • http://www.competauto.com/ Theroro29

    What a poor result for a 7.5 million dollars game (http://www.virtualr.net/ignite-opens-simraceway-performance-center) !

    Brno circuit graphics are horrible.

  • Anonymous

well the game is beta, isnt it? :)

  • http://twitter.com/stuffbygecko gecko

the mp4-12c already existed in the SRW beta, so the mp4 in the gt3 mod is ripped of SRW…
this conversion was not done by sandroX himself, as he did his own recently (independend of the gt3 mod)
