SimRaceWay – Formula SAE Real vs Virtual

SimRaceWay has released an interesting video, showing their work on the Formula SAE open wheeler.

The video shows Simraceway’s Head of Physics and Head Driving Instructor Nico Rondet experiencing the real deal before turning to the virtual version of the car.

The SAE is an entry-level open wheeler powered by a 600cc engine.

The base content of SimRaceWay is free for everyone to try, giving players access to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X as well as Mid Ohio & Zandvoort. Additional content is available for purchase with prices ranging from a few cents to several dollars.

The title puts an emphasis on online racing, using a real-time skill matching system to offer close racing. Like SimRaceWay’s past website that was based on rFactor & other simulations, the new title will again be offering paid online races where players have to pay an entry fee to compete, free online events are available as well.

They are starting to get some traction with cars, tracks and events, but their software keeps crashing on me and I am getting tired of re-installing again and again.

Would be very appreciative of everyone’s views of the paid for cars in this. Looks so rFactor1 to me.

  • Richard Hessels

For me it works very well, never had those issues.

There only starting out.  I think SRW is going to be a big player in a year or two.

they have a nice selection of cars…just need more tracks really!

  • Swordand Keyboard

     thats because it is rfactor.

They’ve been around for a few years already and it seems like mostly hype. Also when I logged in there last it was a ghost town. With all that investment money you would think they would use something besides the rF1 engine and or come up with something themselves.

This will never amount to much. Be cool if it did, but Auto Club Revolution seems like a step in the right direction for this type of platform on the PC.

Interesting.  I’ve only recently heard of them.  They do seem to have alot of money and maybe they will go with the new rF2 engine soon.

Average 100 people late in the evening. Two month ago it was only 20. Simraceway is open beta since few months. They are on the rise.

Simraceway is a lot better as a sim than ACR.

Number of free tracks is increasing (from 4 to 13 now) and their quality is rising too.

It’s a shame they’re all wrong and look terrible.
