Simbins New Project Is….A Toad?!

Posted on October 25th, 2008 in

The whole sim community is speculating what the hinted new Simbin project is going to be about. Pretty much all possible series have been mentioned but without any available details, it’s impossible to say what’s likely and what not.

Simbin has listed the project on their homepage already, calling it “Codename Toad”. If that’s just a funny inside joke or supposed to give us a hint – Who know’s. All we do know is that the “Toad” will be based on gMotor 2, feature a much requested series and will integrate in RACE07/GTR Evolution.

The guessing continues…

It just so happens that one of the rarer toad-species is called ALMS, or Aquatico Litargo Monero Speculu in latin.

if not , it might be it … if so , you will deserve a price when its anounced. come to think of it .. ALMS might just be the thing. would be great for the american market.

If it is ALMS then they’ve had a quite serious injection of capital from somewhere… the licence is big money. TOAD could be some kind of acronym, though :P

    TOAD? Lizard?

  9. trebor901

sureley if it was gonna be ALMS they would want to put it onto the Lizard engine as all most American gamers care about is graphics.

Could be an acronym for “Our graphics engine is Too Old And Dated”?

I do like their sims, but the phrase flogging a dead horse comes to mind when it comes to their butchered Gmotor2 engine.

“sureley if it was gonna be ALMS they would want to put it onto the Lizard engine as all most American gamers care about is graphics.”

    Was that really necessary?

what? it wasnt having a go at american people its just the way it is. Look at any american game or games that have been made for the american market and then brought to europe, the graphics are always better than the gameplay.

But i suppose if you’re a sim racer then you’ll know the Simbin name and know that they generally make great games.

Lol, way to go Trebor. Guess you forgot that iRacing is very American, just as all the praised NASCAR simulation games? That in general the racinggames made about American racing series have always tended to be aimed at realism, while the European titles get more and more arcadey?

Isn’t Need for Speed American? But I’m not taking sides – Simbin use an American graphics engine.

  18. navalhawkeye

Yea, good point. All current, major sims have code based in the US.

    my vote BTCC
