This time, Doug Meyer reviews Fanatec’s ClubSport V2 pedal set.

    I dig this guy’s reviews. Very informative without droning on. I’m really getting swayed by the specs of the ClubSport V2 pedals but I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to afford them. :(

    What’s better?
    1. Modified G27 pedals with NIXIM mod and ClubSport wheel, OR
    2. ClubSport V2 pedals with Logitech G27 wheel?

    Pedals = €250
    Wheel = €450 for base + €150 + for any first and additional rim.
    If on budget and don’t have the money stay with g27 and get pedals, if you don’t have big troubles with the g27 pedals and like a new shiny wheel go for it. I personally have a g25 and gonna buy the V2′s in January, I can’t feel my pedals well enough anymore, especially with rF2 where you need to be perfect on the braking. Like they have written on the box of CSR Elite pedals
    “New Wheel look’s nice, new pedals make you faster” :)

    Yes, not the snazzy presentation of ISR and maybe the better for it, at least until iRacing starts advertising :-)

    impressive pedal set !

    Yes, but in rF2 especially, you’ll get a MUCH better feeling with a Fanatec wheel than the G25/G27. The later feels like a toy, it’s not in the same league at all anymore, especially against the CSR E and CSW. If I were to change something first, it’s definitely the wheel.
    Of course, the CSP v2 are nothing short of amazing, but there’s no feedback as important as the wheel… Of course, it’s another budget…

    But don’t think that any G25/G27 pedal mod could get close to the feeling of CSP’s… I’d just wait to invest in the full Fanatec ClubSport line, instead of buying half solutions which will half frustrate you.

    If you have the cash to get the CSW, another solution would be to get the CSR E + CSPv2 instead : you’ll have the same wheel base as the CSW and the best pedal set around for that price.

    Definitely, Fanatec looks to be a winner, the CSP’s are going to be my first and definitely not last Fanatec product. I can’t afford CSW right now (I’m getting 5 euro a week of pocket money, it would take me 2 years(!) to get CSW. I’m sticking to my g25 for now, but I would say that if I got a posibility I would change it for a belt driven wheel.

    I was replying to Eric, but if you’re even on a tighter budget, maybe you’d be happier with a Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel value pack. It’s the same price as the CSPv2 but you get a belt driven wheel and good pedals, which will give you much more overall pleasure than just good pedals with an (sorry) inferior wheel…
    Just food for thoughts…

    If you say so ;-)

    Thanks for the nice comments…..A couple of notes not mentioned in the review;
    1) The shock does not come with any oil in it so it needs to be added. There are 2 weights that come with the pedals, 800wt and 1200wt. I have only used the 800wt so far.
    2) The more I’ve used the V2 in comparison to the V1(?) I think the shock will need a heavier spring….Someone has already done it (as per a comment on YouTube) and I’ll be finding out the best spring and put that on an updated video.

    Agreed, MUCH more to the point and informative instead of 20 minutes of fluff and 3 minutes of opinion.

    Sorry Darin, but I do say so. I love your show – never miss it – and totally applaud you and Shaun for the immense amount you have brought to this community – developers aside it’s an unrivaled contribution. However I do find the amount of iRacing coverage and exposure to be over-powering, even though I completely understand the financial necessities of dealing with the 800lb gorilla, as it were. It would be great if the show could find a more balanced way to feature all that’s going on in our community with regard to the various betas etc., plus a lot more in the way of reviews of the best mods etc. I can see that recent episodes have gone a little further down that road. What I like most about Sim Racing Review is that he’s where you guys were at before the iRacing sponsorship happened. Just my honest views and I hope you take them positively. Keep it up, you will always have my full support regardless.
