Silverstone Coming To Gran Turismo

As GTPlanet reports, the Gran Turismo franchise is due to receive a brand new track as sources confirm that the British Silverstone circuit is on its way into the GT universe.

Polyphony Digital staff was recently spotted filming and photographing the British racing venue, the same thing happened in February when PD gathered reference for Bathurst, another new addition to the series.

The addition of Silverstone is hardly a surprise, given that the iconic British track is the setting for the Nissan GT Academy Race Camp each year.

Much like Bathurst, it’s unknown whether Silverstone is due to be added to Gran Turismo 5. PD did add Spa Francorchamps to the game via DLC, GT5′s well progressed life-cycle and the fact that PD is already working on Gran Turismo 6 make an addition the latter more like though.

AWESOME! Let’s hope they include all of the variants and not just the new GP layout. :)

Since GT5 is primarily caters to road car (although there’s everything from Ferrari F1 machine to Stratos Rally car), Silverstone as legendary as it is, does not bode well for the majority of cars in GT5. Personally, for road car, I’d much rather have Caldwell or Oulton Park- narrower and more roller-coaster than the flat and rather boring Silverstone.

If Sony decides to start adding laser scanned tracks just for it there’s a sim that will be in huge trouble!
