rFactor The Movie – New Trailer

Back in September, I posted a first story on rFactor – The Movie, a project that aimed to tell a feature-film story using rFactor gameplay footage.

Since then, the team around Tamás Zolcsák has been very busy as the plans have changed along the way. Instead of releasing a single movie, the team now aims to release a three-season TV series.

The series will tell the story of a young driver named Alex whose goal is to compete in the historic Gold Race event. The series will be much more than just simple gameplay footage as the guys have come up with over 80 pages of script for the first season alone.

The first season is due to premier in September 2012, you can check out a new video trailer below.

Sounds promising. I am a fan of Initial D myself so it will be interesting to see how they make this. Best of luck to the dev team developing this series, I hope it becomes a great success. I look forward to seeing it. :)

Lol why is GSC in a rFactor movie?
    Still looks nice btw.

My first thought is … meh.

rFactor2 has promising physics and is fun (even immersive) as a sim but the graphics are cartoonish and not worth the effort of a movie.

Its a movie with only rFactor 1. ;)

I don’t really see how rFactor can be used to make any sort of movie… I look forward to finding out!

Is this the “Red vs. Blue” of the sim world? :/

    Nice, and should be interesting.
The 2nd half of that trailer should have had an epilepsy warning.
I can’t wait till this trend of showing 0.1s flashes of video goes out of style and we can have some normality back.  Just my opinion.

Hahahahaha, agreed. Funny how those go in and out of trend… Remember the Matrix effect (rotating cameras) ?

About the movie project in itself, any “free/copyleft” creative endeavour should be applauded and encouraged, kudos to Tamás and his team ! :)

Maybe they used Quake for the scenes with actors, like good old times ?

As far as I am concerned, it has two things going for it: the racing and Puccini. The song is “Oh mio Babbino caro” (Oh my dear daddy) from the Puccini Opera ”
Gianni Schicchi”. One of the most beautiful soprano parts ever. I have it sung by most of the 20th century sopranos and I never get tired of hearing it. Here is proof that pop music’s lyrics haven’t changed that much after all or gotten anymore silly, but the music is another story.

    Italian
O mio babbino caro,mi piace, è bello, bello.
Vo’andare in Porta Rossaa comperar l’anello!
    Sì, sì, ci voglio andare!
    e se l’amassi indarno,andrei sul Ponte Vecchio,
    ma per buttarmi in Arno!
    Mi struggo e mi tormento!
    O Dio, vorrei morir!
    Babbo, pietà, pietà!
    Babbo, pietà, pietà!

    Translation
Oh my dear papa,I love him,
    he is handsome, handsome.
I want to go to Porta RossaTo buy the ring!
Yes, yes, I want to go there!
And if my love were in vain,I would go to the Ponte Vecchio
And throw myself in the Arno!
    I am anguished and tormented!
Oh God, I’d like to die!
    Papa, have pity, have pity!
    Papa, have pity, have pity!
