rFactor 2 – New Rain Effect Preview + Q&A Session

Following the first rain effect previews released two weeks ago, Image Space Incorporated has released a new preview shot, showing the recent progress made with the windscreen rain effect as seen from the Nissan GT-R cockpit.

In related news, ISI is hosting a Question & Answer session on Twitter and Facebook so make sure to submit your question now.

rFactor 2 will introduce various improvements to the modding-friendly simulation including weather, driver animations and a refined graphics engine. ISI has not announced a definite release date yet, the company is still aiming to release their newest title by the end of 2010 though.

  • kkacper

wow this is a fantastic job guys are doing at ISI.I really can’t wait till rf2. rf1 is ok but I must say I’m starting to be a quet a bit annoyed with it *DONT_KNOW* well This is gonna be a great improvement :)

  • Luiz

Long wait……… =/ But it will be good! at least I think….

  • Pe11e

Damn, that water on a windscreen looks real! Amazing work!

  • adrian

Ferrari Virtual Academy, F1 2010 and this amazing previews are pushing me THIS close to uninstall rFactor from my system haha… it is really looking old now… i cant wait for rF2…

  • KTM

    Looks amazing! =)

  • Doby

    Looks very arcade

  • Marcello

Looks so real ! Fantastic work, congratulations !

  • opticalust

Yeah, that is looking amazing! I hope they include decent cars in this rls, without having to soley rely on modders.

  • Higans

    lol

  • Your name(required)

Need to get that window tightened up, got some leaks coming through the top.

  • mike88

    cant wait!

    very impressive.

nissan GTR will be included with rF 2?

  • GeraArg

Better and better…, amazing job.  8-)

  • GeraArg

    ¿En qué estás pensando…?

  • BSR-WiX

bring it on..this is starting to look the deal.

  • TECHNO MAN

WAH! ) will be a lot of buzz! )

    Охренеть…)

  • Alexandre

    Oh man,

    it’s great

  • gangstarpotato

great improvement on the previous one good job :)

how about some night shots, i want to see pretty headlights :D

  • Spacekid

    Looks bloody hell! :-P

  • Creatorex

    Blodyyyy sundayyyy!!! Rfactor2 will rock!!!!!

  • Dave

Is that a certain mods car in the shot or a new car coming with the game ?
    Looks real

  • Wendy did what?

    Looks rubbish.

    [kidding]

  • jimmy

Hmmm… I was just playing Enduracers’ mod on Virtua_LM’s tracks and I thought how beautifully it looks… But engine is outdated, I agree.

  • jimmy

I am really curious if rF2 will contain official GT1 mod (or at least some unofficial version of series but with official cars)… It would be a direct attack on Simbin’s territory  :-D

  • jimmy

These are screenshots directly from ISI, so obviously it’s an official car.

  • Jim

I just hope current rF mods will be compatible with rF2 …..

Can’t wait. That just looks awesome.

  • jimmy

And since I do not have neither Facebook nor Twitter account, I would like to ask my questions here, maybe some of you know the answer  :) .

    My wishes for rF2 are:

    1) Realistic lightning … night pitch black and headlights invisible in daylight (sunshine is much stronger than headlights)
    2) Deformable tyre walls … your car should not be terminally damaged if you hit them in slower speed (now they are as hard as a concrete wall and it annoys me unbelievably)
    3) Better sounds (I am not a sound expert but I would like them to be more realistic – in real life cars in distance are much louder than those in gMotor games – sound should also be echoed)
This is exactly what I mean (that sound is pure sex btw):

Now compare this with rFactor. I think it’s possible today to make sound engine as good as it would be almost unrecognizable from reality.

OK… so will be any of my wishes included in rF2 or not? I suppose it’s too late to implement such things from scratch now…

  • jimmy

I am afraid they are not directly compatible. So it’s a dilemma today for modders if release mods still for rF1 or wait for rF2. Moreover, we have so many brilliant mods in rF1 and it will take years for some to be converted for rF2 IMHO…  *DONT_KNOW*

  • stabiz

    Thumbs up!

  • GTEvo

    Long live iSI 8-)

    “caaaaant wait”!

  • Gpfan

    One word… WOoooW!!!!!

  • Justin ForzaBarça D’Cruze

    Preview vid pl0x.
    That shot looks awesome!

  • sommergemuese

Last Video was CRAP this one is wonderful

    To the German readers *g*

    http://sommergemuese.klee.in/2010/10/rfactor-2-regenscreens-und-entwickler-qa/

  • Pau

I presume the car is stationary, otherwise droplets would strem over the top and onto the sides. Shouldn’t the rain drops be a bit larger though, and more fluid?

  • Deano

Simply awsome…..but there will allways be others who will bitch and nit-pic things to death.

  • Timothy Wheatley

    Noted. :)

  • Timothy Wheatley

    Questions noted.

  • Timothy Wheatley

Depends on the type of rain, and yes there’s still some needed effects to droplets.

  • F1Racer

Yeah cos it’s just not good enough is it ?  >:o

Dont forget to mention that the raindrops must be spherical shaped and not teardrop.
Also that gravity must be calculated on each drop so that each splash rebounds to exactly the correct height.  Lets not forget that the water on the track should also go right into the tyre treads and spit out of the sides correctly otherwise the car would be aquaplaning.

Rain and anti-fogging treatment on the windscreens which has also been mentioned.  The drops must also hit the windscreen with more speed as the car speed increases so that the effect is more intense.

    Anything else ?

  • RG

No joke. Just my personal experience as a Formula Ford owner/driver/mechanic.

  • GeraArg

The tires loss grip if one leaves the track?, like the Netkar Pro?  :-D

  • Luke

Are you planning to include/update any of the cars and tracks from rF1? I still have far more fun in the rTrainer/rF3/ZR than with any mod and Toban, Mills, and Lienz are my three favorite tracks available for rFactor. I think it would be a great shame to not include them and it would only lead to the community doing it for you, which may result in sub-par conversions.

And for reference, I’ve probably sampled 100+ cars and 200+ tracks over the years. Your content really is the best around and I thank you greatly for all your hard work.

  • stabiz

One more thing, F1Racer:We need insects, they can clog up the radiator and mess up the anti-fogging on the windscreen. Also, in large numbers its probably possible to insect-plane on them.

  • Adrian

this is a game dude, you cant use rain x inside games, your comment is a joke.

  • yokelhama

That’s an updated version of Mills in the screenie above, so we know that’s included at least and it’s looking frickin radical too btw!

  • YouKnowThatsRight

After an rFactor developer comments on it, you knew big mouth know-it-all couldn’t resist responding… Moar treadmill, less virtualr…

  • JGoenR

    Looks great!

  • BSR-WiX

Now if only modders could get a bit of background info on the technical side of things, that would be great. We ( RMT ) have been trying to get some info on what to and not to do, but ISI seems unresponsive to have some form of communication regarding those things. Rumors are that a particular team did get exclusive benefits. then again, it is what it is…a rumor.  I just wished we could get on with some of the modding, without having to guess what not to do.  It still strikes me as odd that the company who has to win the most by modding , is at this moment the one with the least info regarding design and features. Soon we will know more about the new Simbin tittle then we know now about the ISI project.  It almost looks as if rF2 modding is being discouraged.  Lets hope we get some more info soon. I always looked at rF2 as the next best thing.   Annyway, looking forward to start some real rF2 related work on the WSGT2.  Maybe its just the wait , that gets to me ;)

  • Lenniepen

    This looks great!

I see the track has it’s 50th anniversary: 1961-2011. Hint to release date/year?

  • Carbonfibre

Serious improvement! I can’t imagine what the final build will be like.

btw, it’s actually pouring with rain today in the UK lol.

  • Cole

Good job. Looking really promising. But how about some windshield-wiper mechanical error simulation :D:D

  • Bjørn

Looking very good, still room for improvement :)  Sides and top of windscreen looks weird and the wiper have to follow the wiped path better… Can’t wait to see a video of this in action :)

  • F1Racer

Heh, :)    How could I forget the insects.  In fact, how about when the windscreen dirties up, we can put the windscreen washers on give it a good clean up.  Then they can simulate windscreen wiper wear over a season.

  • Nik

Wix, moddig has pro and cons.
Your videos are for quality mod, for example .  But there are a lot of non-quality mods.
Today is a delirium trying to make a on line (on the fly) race. A lot (huge) of mods and tracks.

    This is a problem.

There would be (sorry my english) a filter.. but ISI can’t have this responsability for various reasons. Who can decide for quality or not quality? impressive problem :)

Also.. the modding can realize models not provided form the software-house.. and this is an advantage..

    This isn’t easy
But i see the point of view of the software house too.. a lot of non quality mods is dispersive.

  • F1Racer

Maybe learn to spell before trying out concepts such as sarcasm.  I guess compared to you I would seem like a ‘know-it-all’. Actually most people would seem that way to you.  Must be awful going through like with an inferiority complex.
Anyway at least you learned that raindrops are spherical and not teardrop shaped :) .  Now go… go tell the world.

  • F1Racer

Man, I’m just imagining racing WSGT2 in rFactor 2 in the rain.  That has to be immense !

  • F1Racer

Actually, that’s not a bad idea :)    Could be one of the car failures making visibility almost impossible (unless you previously applied Rain-X in the pits, hehe).

  • FONismo

Looking fantastic and i just wish we had a release date so i could count down the days. But really i would rather this is released properly and not rushed like a recent F1 title

  • Suarez16

Looking GOODD!!! I’m pleased that Mills will be in rF2. Mills, Essington and Toban are one of the best fictional tracks in any sim.

  • Chad Smith

I never played rFactor, but this does look very nice.

  • Spaceman

Sod the effects, just work on the AI. For the love of God…….THE AI!!!!!!!

  • Nik

    don’t say this

the waiting is more difficult :)

  • Aaron Carlisle

Follow the path better?  I’m going to guess that if the windscreen is in fact dynamic, the water is following the Exact path of the wiper.  I guess some people never do think before they type something out.  :-

  • jimmy

I like Mills and Toban the most. Essington is not bad, just as Lienz but Lienz should be totally reworked – there are too few polygons on the road and car is “jumping” over them and losing grip sometimes. But layout is great.

  • shum94

In 2010 ADSL 2+ or FBTTH cmon screw the AI.

  • Lenniepen

If you look at the wiped path, it’s not exactly in line with the wiper, the angle is slightly off.
I think thats what Bjørn meant.
It’s not a question of thinking or guessing. It’s about looking.

  • Kiro

Just a couple of comments from drivers in my league about the rain video…
    1. hmmm, rain effect its not realistic yet, the drops look to “icky” and disapears and apears too fast, they should fall and start going to the sides of the visor once the car start moving, also your vision never gets like that until you are behind another car in the rain.
    2. Look at the driver’s arms. At the end of the video, it seems that they leave the steering wheel or move on it from one place to another. I’m not sure, it’s not clear, but interesting.

  • F1Racer

Just wondering how you can tell about drosps disappearing and appearing too fast from a still image.
You may have a valid point, but I think point 1 is a little nit-picky.   Remember also that no rain even hits your visor if your in a closed car :)

  • F1Racer

    LOL, sorry :)

  • GTEvo

    “Take it isi”

  • KTM

    Yeah, I second that! – there’s really some room for improvement… :D

  • Karkai6

I really hope that the collision model for open wheelers is improved… It would be great if it is unforgiving and one is able to lock wheels with another car…Something on the lines of GPL or GP4… And if the AI is done good also, We can have a great offline experience there… Fingers crossed :-D

  • Big Ron

there was y video with a formula-car one week ago ;)

  • GDD

Do you remember GTR Evolution from 2007? In this game you can see the wipers working. When you push gas pedal yo can see the feet go down. These are details that must be include.
But the physics was some difficult for my , becouse i haven´t steering just with key and the game run too slow.
Gooo ISI you must be the best sim-game!!. Work in the physics and AI, this is the escencial for us!!!

  • Pau

That was really unnecessary F1Racer, did it seem to you I was nitpicking through a complex mathematical sort of view? Can’t a person comment constructively and not be ridiculed by a bunch of half-wits around Virtualr? Stabitz, you should know better than follow F1R’s example, or you all will start a new trend around commenting the opposite of rational.

  • Big Ron

hehe, if you steer with keys, I think every sim game is too difficult for you :-D

  • Suarez16

Never was a big fan of Lienz. Orchard Lake road course on the other hand was cool as well, especially with the day/night transition. 8-)

  • F1Racer

there was but clearly the rain effect has been updated since then, hence this new screenshot.

  • Nanny

besides if the car is running or stalling the effect is diferent.

  • phil23

I agree the Ai needs work from rF1. I race online with Racedepartment, but as I work nights here in the UK I can’t race during the weekdays. I don’t want to be forced to race on public servers in the mornings when I get home. I want good Ai to practice with and make my gaming experience enjoyable not spend 5 days a week hotlapping on my own!!

Obviously there is work needed for the online code, but I’m sure they will have that well in hand. All I really care about is physics(especially tire) and FFB improvements.

The wet weather effects are looking good by the way 8-) .

  • GTEvo

Just work on the Grafic..this is the most escencial for”us”.
Innovated, modern und real looking Lightnings, Shaddows, Rain, Fog and Headlights..thats the onliest whats really needed!

PhysicEngine and Soundengine are ok..look at HistoriX Mod, look at the “PhantomMod” 8-) GroupC vy Virtua and the Soundtweakings from the GSMF D.J., …im pretty sure there is Nothing wich is Better, more impressive and innovative.
Not iRacing Sounds, not CodemasterSounds, not FVA Sounds, not Forza, not GT5 Sounds^^

4 Example whats possible with old “poor” rF Soundengine^^

Believe me..we only need better Shading, Rain and Lightning Model

    GlückAuf
    Holger

  • Buzz Hornet

I am having trouble logging on and adding a post to the Q&A. Can somebody please ask if multiple qualifying formats will be available ie.) Knockout F1 style etc

  • frigopie

cockpit sound are good, but the exterior ones… i think they must implement the fact that when you see a car arriving you hear the engine sound, but when it passes you hear the exhaust sound…

  • Justin ForzaBarça D’Cruze

Negative, we definitely need improved physics as well….
Noah may well have conceived the rfactor tire model himself during the months he was stuck on the ark.

Ok maybe I’m exaggerating slightly, but theres no doubt it needs some improving to compete with iracing and nkpro in the physics department.

  • Flaux

We need eax for hall and echo effects…

  • Flaux

Hey Wix, I guess there is still a long way for rf2. So there are just no info’s to get. Maybe it comes at the end of next year or even 2012. I bet it will take a while from now.

  • Pau

That was really unnecessary F1Racer, did it seem to you I was nitpicking through a complex mathematical sort of view? Can’t a person comment constructively without being ridiculed on Virtualr?

  • 07wtcc

everytime i watch MOTORS TV (GT3 etc. races) I think the graphics in simracers, even in not-so-simracers like GT and Forza, is just far far away from what i want to see on my screen. and this one looks bad either if you got the idea ;)

  • PH

I can’t help feeling the PC sim world is stalling and losing momentum.

I expected RF2 to be released this year, I doubt it will be out next summer at this rate.

Then we have all of those great looking mods like Protoype C and GTX5 that seem to be MIA, I just don’t know were this community is going, expectations are now seriously outweighing the resources of developers and mod teams.

  • Mjmueller

Wow, I think you guys are being way to harsh.  I know our Enduracers mod will look amazing on this.  Remember it’s not always about the graphics.  Right now I can’t play F1 2010 because the FPS are so low.  Sure the graphics are better, but with rFactor at 1920X1050 wiht 16AF, 16AA, and everything on HIGH, with 60FPS the game looks awesome in my opinion.  Just give rFactor 2 a chance I bet it will suprise you.  And the longer a game takes to come out, means the better it is when it’s released.  Look at GT5 for instance; it will be incredible.  Now compare it to F1 2010 that should not have been released.  I might not ever go back to that because of all the bugs.

  • Wendy did what?

    anything else?

Quantum effects on the drop surface?

  • DeDios

Timothy, we need glowing numberplates, used on cars in endurance races (like 24H Le Mans for example)! ;) would be great!!

  • DeDios

Yes, please we need a good AI. I want to play offline too :) and do championships.

  • DeDios

Looks great! ;) can’t wait to see next improvements. I’m just curious about the new physics for the tires. We need something similar to iRacing about FFB.
And please, we need a good support for modders!!
About question, well, i did it yesterday in FB;  i hope will be some answers from ISI.
We absolutely need a product with the same (or, of course, better!) quality level of opponents.

  • crosschris

Yeah a ‘magic tree’ air freshener hanging from rear view mirrors would add to the authentic smell of the sim ;) .

  • stabiz

Pau, I think you are right. I was just carried away there, my bad.

  • DeDios

Mj, sure rF looks really good using great mods and tracks but..engine imho is a bit outdated. We need some improvements and new features in graphical side too :)
Personally i really like for example iRacing and FVA graphic. I hope rF2 will be at same or better level ;)
When will be released rF2 will be in our HDs for a long time so..i’d like to see a good graphic engine, beautiful and competitive in next years too.

  • YouKnowThatsRight

Very funny, when mocking someone on spelling, genius, you should ensure you yourself did so. Now be a smart boy a check to make sure your roommate didn’t set up cameras.

  • Big Ron

close your eyes and start a dream, where your graphics are photorealistic real ;)

  • F1Racer

Ooh you don’t like your spelling being pointed out do you ?  If you can spell big words like ‘developer’ and ‘responding’ then surely the word ‘more’ shouldn’t be too much for you.
You can tell how good a persons English is from how they write and yours seems good enough that you should know how to spell ‘more’.   You can’t really put ‘moar’ down to a typo either.

I did ensure mine was ok too btw but I do let the odd typo creep in but that’s a whole different thing from not knowing how to spell it.  Maybe you think my correct spelling is wrong because it’s not how you spell it.

I guess you know all about room-mates and cameras then.  Trying to underhandedly call someone gay means you’ve already given up and lost the fight. Unfortunately for you I won’t be jumping off any bridges any time soon.

If you’re going to take the pee at least get it in context.    Get out while you can mate, you’re out of your depth.  I’m well practiced at this ;)

  • F1Racer

Pau,  don’t take it personal ;)
Sometimes its hard to seperate the genuine constructive criticism from the never satisfied, nothing is ever good enough mentality that you get on sim racing forums.

To be fair, yours was on the fence.   Remember this screenshot is wip and Im sure they are aware of the streaming affect already.

  • Pau

Something I found that left a good impression on me, not calculable physics as you guys like to point out, the more fluid effect onto the left side of the windscreen and window when in movement. I am in no way trying to critically compare ISI’s work to that of Simbin’s before someone feels the need to react.

  • Firestarter

This is realistic, way better then the previous preview. Now it would be good to see a preview of different weather conditions, i hope it`s very dynamic.

  • Wesley

maybe they also add other weather like Snow or something? As off-road is added to rF2 it would be somewhat logical to have an sandstorm for example. Also i hope the game can also simulate the wind, I would love to drive this game with the wind coming from all directions.

  • BSR-WiX

if it would be that long, we would choose another platform.. by 2012 there would be no need for rF2   :)

  • YouKnowThatsRight

Nah, I just like annoying you enough, that you feel obliged to write essays on it, since I have to keep skipping over your comments, all ten thousand of them, on every post. Again, moar treadmill, then maybe you’ll be confident enough to leave the house.

  • jimmy

Yeah, PC simracers are too spoiled  :) . We want only top notch work but modding teams are not almighty and such projects take a lot of time and effort. You know, I have no problem with e.g. paying some reasonable amount of money for the best mods for rFactor – if they would be made more quickly.

  • shum94

    A video please

  • F1Racer

Don’t flatter yourself, you have no idea how to annoy me.  It would take a lot more than someone with your limited intelligence to do that.  Sorry to disappoint.    I respond to you simply because it amuses me to do so.

Next time I`ll try to keep my responses shorter for you as I can imagine how anything more than a couple of sentences must hurt your head.

  • Captain Underpants

I believe there was mention in an SRT interview a while back that theres going to be tools to convert rfactor1 mods to rfactor2 with minimal fuss, so I don’t think it’ll be too much of a problem. I get the impression that rf2 will be even more mod friendly than the first one.

  • Captain Underpants

I think we can count this as another step towards total realism, but we’re not quite there yet. I simply appreciate the progress, and think this looks quite promising, certainly better than anything we’ve seen before.

  • RG

Have an open mind. I succeeded in making mods for SCGT, F1-2000, F1CS2000, F1-2001, F1-2002, F1CS, and rF because anything is possible if you try ;)

  • Luke

I really like the bumpiness of Lienz.

  • Luke

And here I thought that I was the only person who loved doing offline championships.

  • migf1

    Really-really nice, thumbs up!

PS. A quick question, because I don’t remember. Will rf2 feature dynamic weather changes?

  • Ahmad

from what we’ve seen of screenshots, yes

  • fangio

it looks like DIY. A Java applet on a texture windshield. A few raindrops on the windshield of a parked car.
This thing will bBe available one year after 2010 F1, WRC …

I’m sorry but ISI is not able to provide a screenshot or a decent video, so that talented modder do half the work for free … it’s pathetic.

  • Aaron Carlisle

Considering they’ve created the most sought after racing title for modding, I’m going to go on record and say I.S.I. does just fine.

  • GRider

You know another SIMULATOR that looks better than this?… *DONT_KNOW*

  • MiniMadPaul

I hope that ISI will not rush to get RF2 to market before they are ready. I’d prefer to wait after seeing the debacles of the buggy F1 2010 and totally hopeless WRC.

The rain effect looks fantastic but my worry here is what kind of rig are we all going to have in order to get these detailed graphics running smoothly. I fear a major upgrade of my existing rig will be required. Better start saving me pennies.

  • Koen Calleyl

And modders or mod-teams would be more than willing to ask a reasonable amount of money, IF licensing would allow this…Most have a donate button, makes them feel more motivated aswell ;)

  • migf1

    Thanks for the reply :)

Any chance for optional live weather & time/day transitions (via google for example)?

  • Ertsj

“And the longer a game takes to come out, means the better it is when it’s released.”

Yeah, Duke Nukem Forever will be the greatest game ever.

  • DeDios

ehehe would be really nice!! :)

  • DeDios

    you’re not alone!

  • DeDios

lol, compare rF2 with Duke Nukem Forever is totally nosense. ISI are clearly working on new title.
Guys, if you don’t want to wait, do some month driving iR,FVA, nKp, rF or what you want ;)

  • _Sy

    Sounds crap.

Nothing like the real TVR Griffith 400 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTJoZLabhJ4

  • _Sy
  • RKipker

Rush, they’re not rushing….!  I’m not sure how long it’s been announced (Help Someone please post) but it’s well over 18 months now.  I still don’t think an actual release date has ever been even suggested.

So, don’t worry  about them rushing…!

  • Firestarter

MiniMadPaul: U dont expect developers to develop games for your 5 year old rig?

  • Pyronick

Looks good enough to me. Sure, it can always be better, but most sims don’t even have rain visuals.
And this is a screenshot, static shots usually don’t look as good as moving footage. Especially in computer graphics.

    These are my suggestions:
If the droplet coordinates could be generated through FFT or Perlin noise, it would look more natural.

Also, drops should cast shadows and refract light if possible. This can be done through vertex shaders.
    Simple DirectX 9 trick.

I’m anxious to see how it will look like in moving footage.

  • Fabio Pittol

Send those tips to them via Facebook or Twitter buddy! Probably there they’ll read!

  • f0xx

I like it very much, especially the lighting.

  • Wendy did what?

a question – is there much chance that we’ll get any post-release development rather than just issue-resolving patches (which I assume ISI will undoubtedly deliver)?

For example, this raindrop system, AI, perhaps DX10/11 in 12 months, say……?

Perhaps rF 2.5 in 18 months, say?  For an extra £10/15/20?    Rather than DLC or monthly fee a la Iracing it could be seen more positively – as customer funding of further development.  5 years is a long development cycle – for customers and ISI’s accountants?

    —–

I just tried CM’s Dirt2……    I reckon Mafia2 has a better driving model.  Clearly the gfx are taking all the processing cycles – the physics ain’t.  Pffft.

  • fangio

“Factor 2 will introduce various improvements to the modding-friendly simulation”
You’re dreaming on a 6 years old engine, directX9c based. ah ah ah.

The other point is: do modders will have enough time to create interesting mods ?
The number of polygones and textures has increased seriously. it isn’t the same job.

  • GRider

    trolling fail

    You need content?
Panoz cars, Clio Cup, Megane Trophy Cup, Formula 2 (Tecno 1969), F1 1969 (Matra 1969), Nissan GTR, Skip Barber, WSR, CORR (Toyota truck maybe?), gokart, Stockcar and cernainly something else that still didnt show us.

Go to play the F1 2010

  • AndreasT

I assume it’s way too difficult for modders. Soo many polygons. They can only count to 10000. And btw, F1 2010 also runs with DX9 atm.

  • fangio

So we have Renault (clio cup, megane trophy and WSR).
A formule 2 and a formule1 “from Grand Prix legend”. Matra: the Renault espace and avantime maker. The Skyline we can see in NFS and Forza. Nissan from Renault-Nissan.

    Some made in american stuff.

    P.S. I don’t like F1.

  • jimmy

Yeah, I also like Mafia 2′s car physics. It’s great for a non-simulation game  :-D

  • victoria

Yet another idiot talks about directX, as if they know anything about directX, fact is only 3 percent maybe less of pc games uses directx 10 or 11, do your home work before you come here talking utter rubbish, god this blog is becoming boring only because of KIDS with no knowledge of anything whats so ever.

Why is everyone acting like models are the only important part of a mod?

  • WiZPER

I never realized that troll was spelled F-A-N-G-I-O – atleast now I know 8-)

  • WiZPER

It looks awesome… and then when we all get it, someone will make a workaround-patch to get rid of it, the sim-community is really odd that way *DONT_KNOW*

  • shum94

Doom III was release in directX 9 time and the most part of the engine was directX 7 based.

  • svizzy

more than 2 channel sound would be really nice.

  • svizzy

btw i like what i see in the previews

  • Wesley

‘The other point is: do modders will have enough time to create interesting mods ?
The number of polygones and textures has increased seriously. it isn’t the same job.’

This my friend only makes modding easier, now you do not have to think about your polys anymore, as in these days you cant do too much anymore(i doubt 200K would be any problem). Back in the days the makers had to seriously think where more polys are needed, as wheel arches needed more and you have an certain limit.

  • Carbonfibre

Watched an awesome MotoGP race yesterday, reminded me to ask if ISI had an answer yet to two-wheeled physics for gMotor3?

Maybe something to work on post-release? ;)

  • AndreasT

And think of some details which are currently faked with textures to save polys.

  • MiniMadPaul

Rigs not quite that old but hopefully still packs a punch but every new version of a game should push the graphics envelope otherwise why do it. Its always a good excuse to justify that mega powerful graphics card or 32 core processor :-P

  • MiniMadPaul

Agreed full surround sound would be excellent.

  • Vmk

The graphics are looking good, however it needs some reflections and HDR to help the immersion.. A rainy day is not appropriate to see such features, so I’ll wait a sunny shot to analyze with justice.

  • sosman

Awesome battle between Rossi & Loranzo!

  • Carbonfibre

    That was it. :-D

I don’t even watch MotoGP, but tuned in to see these guys actually collide into a corner, whoa.

  • Wendy did what?

y – the inertia in slides esp. on old cars in the snow is excellent – waaaay better than Dirt2′s totally faked effort.   mafia2 is surely “faked” as well, but it does it much better.

Shame we never had a mafia1/2 carset for rF.

  • Glenn

sweet… is that iracing? o nevermond i forgot the worlds best sim doesnt have rain. *DONT_KNOW*
