rFactor 2 – New Indy Previews + Interview

Image Space Incorporated has released new previews of Indianapolis for rFactor 2 that are part of an extensive SimHQ interview.

The guys at SimHQ sat down with ISI’s track artist Luc van Camp for an extensive interview.

Like many artist at sim racing studios, Luc has made a name for himself as succesful modder first, co-creating many popular rFactor tracks under the nickname SLN.

Now, Luc is part of ISI’s two-man track team and in the interview he talks about the development cycle, ISI’s RealRoad feature and much more – So make sure to not miss out on the excellent interview here.

If it’s to the same standard as Silverstone it’s gonna be another great addition to RF2. Can’t wait! Well done guys.

Way should not be? What impresses me, how much work is dropping only on this two guys now. But in the long run this will definately not work, if ISI want to step up with other titles. Not because this two peoples can’t work that fast(they proven they can), but because they will burnout at some point if ISI will not in the fast possible way succeed find new talented blood. And people still talk a bull…t about slow development. Game has at least a 50% more stuff already implemented, which other games will be waiting maybe even for years. I like AC, but only thing new is physics which take more time to develop. All the other things is just improvement of things that some of other titles already have Including their own. Really there is nothing so much time consuming in AC(not counting physics, track and car creation(which is also static pretty much) than what is doing ISI right now which implemented technologies that is depend on each other. If you change one of them, it affects all other. And that is at least couple of times more consuming than any other title. Of course people still talk bull…t but imho ISI team is the one of the fastest developer team if we count amount of people that work on project. Just RESPECT. And oh, only a question is meant for you sobaphen :) The rest is for people which will recognise yourself.

There’s been two guys since I have been with the company. Pier came on, making it three, only for a short crossover period. We are looking for another track person, and there’s been some talents we have missed, but sometimes it’s more about whether the guys feel they would gel together. The current guys seem to work great together. Pier (Tuttle) was an awesome addition for Luc..

You know what they say about too many cooks.

We would still like an experienced Chef for the team. :)

Good to know that rF2 continues to expand.

Luc: At the moment, with Scott having shifted all his
attention to the development of Rogue System, there’s only Pier Murru
and myself. I do have a bit of mixed feelings about Scott leaving our
little harmonious hive mind, but we had been slowly prepared for the
    change.

Yup, that pretty much sums up things for me regarding rF2. Though the thoughts of having a well done (ie, actually has a turbo) 1995 Reynard is enough reason to get slightly excited. Even if we haven’t seen a preview of it or any of the cars.

Can’t wait to see the differences between the older track and the updated track, which Luc mentioned is internally already upgraded.

While I couldn’t care less for the oval, I am very much looking forward to the Indy
road course. The standard looks excellent again.

However, it is quite shocking that only two people are working on tracks. Credit to them, they are doing a great job, but it explains the glacial pace of development.

Why have you posted GPL stuff on the rFactor 2 thread :)

      • Chris Wright

ROFL – I can only assume I had two subjects open and used the wrong tab to paste in my text. Hehe, moved it to GPL Spa thread.
