    Looks yummy.. downloading now

You see, i haven’t driven rF2 in ages as I personally don’t like the feel of it (probably the green track and my impatience) and because it just didn’t run well enough for something that I feel doesn’t look that good!!

Many of the screen shots I’ve seen have done little to encourage me to think it will look good and then you see a shot like that one!!! rF2 obviously can look special when it wants to, but it for some reason is taking so long to get there :-(.

Hopefully one day it will all come together and I’ll be able to enjoy the product I bought and paid over a year ago that has so far had very little enjoyment from me :-(.

IMO the lighting looks wrong. For such sun angle there shouldn’t be so contrast pitch black shadows. And overall looks too dark and underexposed. Also no back-lighting in trees foliage at all.

I haven’t had a blast on RF2 for over 8 months. I’ve been pretty impressed with this track especially when it was raining on half the track. Great effects.

  • addyduss

obviously you didnt try that track. Visually its close to perfect. As for high contrast and dark areas – hdr makes it look like that because one half of that screenshot is sky and if you make correct exposure on the sky you make everything else look darker.

  • rthki

    That’s not really HDR then.

  • Chris Wright

Enormous admiration for the ISI team, but completely confused as to where we are in the development cycle of rF2. An end of year road map statement would be very welcome.

Hmmm Bsim mentions something about a new Mak Corp mod. ATM I am rebuilding my database so no rF2 installed ATM

Try other cars than the ISI ones.

  • Realkman666

I thought it was a new track for a second, there. ;)

    RIP Tire Stacks. :(

But shouldn’t the content a game provider provide be good? Look at AC, many great cars that “they” produced and didn’t rely on other people for. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an RF supporter, but I haven’t bought RF2 because of the slow cycle and like others, not sure what their plan is. ( I was a little harsh so I edited it out). They got away with this in RF1, but not sure the community is still there to boost it up content-wise in vehicles. Because RF1 cars were no good imho. I really hope they do get it sorted out in 2014.

  • Realkman666

No, I agree with you. There is a way to make the cars manageable after some laps and tweaks, but the modern cars still feel off. 60s F1 cars have more grip than modern cars, and that’s just dumb. I happen to like some of them, plus the URD and MAK cars, which I think feel great. You ccan actually feel the tires on these things.

I also wanted to give him a reason to give another chance to a product he already owns. The Renault and Nissan cars are nice, but nowhere near the add-on cars. Unfortunately, the word is that ISI feels like their cars mimic real-life settings, so that means they are unlikely to makes changes to the tire data, which means AI will always destroy you in several situations because they don’t have the same physics.

They’re very talented, but stubborn. Are there milestones you’re waiting for? The UI and the lack of championship mode make it less attractive than it could be, but there’s a lot of good content available, depending on the type of racing you like.

  • Realkman666

By that, I meant that the name is wrong, but whatever.

  • Chris

They just haven’t attracted me enough that I am willing to give up time flying my flight sim stuff or doing AC to get my interest or $. Hopefully they will in 2014, because I am truly shocked how long it has taken them to complete the Beta. AC has gained some serious ground and are every 2 weeks imho. At least the updates let us know they’re still working on it (rf2).

  • Realkman666

Their communication skills are lacking, but maybe some videos will inspire you. Either way, I have seen some definite improvements in the last 6 months, while some obvious problems remain unanswered as if they don’t exist.

Is this different to Loch Drummond?

  • Realkman666

    Same track.

  • Jim. C

Yeah it was a joke. Never mind.

  • Realkman666

    :(

Race the cars on tracks. What else do you need to know lol

  • Chris Wright

    Very good :-)

  • Kendra Jacobs

Tim stated it was released first and foremost as a sim, thats why they chose to focus on graphics last and just started making bigger improvements in thst area lately. If you need even better graphics to enjoy physics and the challenge of racing cars then i dont know what else to tell ya.

  • Kendra Jacobs

It looks fine especially on the newer tracks and some of the add on tracks. Looks really real and immersive sometimes but when you set the gfx lower then they degrade a lot theres a huge diff between max and min gfx with rf2 probably because of the old gfx engine deep underneath it all but it looks more real than any other sim at certain times on certain tracks but can look real old and ugly too sometimes.

the driving is always wicked awesome though

  • Kendra Jacobs

Theyre a team of engineers and ex military simulation guys, they do things differently to your typical gamer studio companies, just gotta accept that. Itll never be as easy plug and play and has friendly and stuff as other games, but the things the engine is capable of….my oh my.

I tried the new demo but, even though I played Rfactor for about 3 years straight, I cannot justify paying $85 for a lifetime membership for the game in its current state. I am disappointed. I really, really want Rfactor 2 to be a great game, but it’s just not there yet. You know, I have watched so many You Tube videos of Rfactor 2 and those videos show a much better looking game. Is it just the demo? Is the demo that bad? I watched a You Tube video of Rfactor 2 at Spa and it looked amazing! Today, I saw screenshots of some new tracks and they looked absolutely incredible. So, what is up with the demo?! Is the demo an accurate representation of Rfactor 2 or is the full game that much better than the demo?

  • Dean Doucette

BTW, I had tried the previous demo and was disappointed but I saw the news about the new demo so I thought maybe the new demo is a better showcase of the game. Not! After playing GTR, GTR2, GT Legends, F1 2010 – 2013, DIRT 2. & 3, Assetto Corsa, and Raceroom Race Experience (and I am only mentioning the better games I’ve played), I feel it is an absolute mistake to put out a demo that is in such a raw condition. I am hoping, and I mean really hoping that the full game is much, much better. Is it? Anyone? I really wanted to buy RF2 and play the heck out of it over the Xmas holidays.

  • Miroslav Davidovic

You have a 7 days refund option with rF2. If you buy it, check out Tosch’s HDR profiles which you can find on the forums. They do make a difference on the most tracks as the ISI HDR profiles on most tracks are just “outdated” honestly. They made some GFX improvements recently but the profiles were not updated for every track.
You have nothing to loose if you really want to check it out.

The demo combo is good as is IMO, otherwise with something like the Clio’s and Mores you’d see loads of complaints afterwards in the forums when people realize that some cars just aren’t that easy to drive as they wish and some tracks just don’t look that good like the ones recently released. The current combo tells you straight off what you get, some things are worse visually some better, some easier to handle some not.

The margin is quite big BTW lol.

  • Dean Doucette

My wife bought me the lifetime subscription to Rfactor 2 so I guess I’ll find out what it’s like. Oh and yes I was thrilled about the gift. I am eager to try the full game.

  • Realkman666

So, is that still the name of the track?

  • Kev

Great news! Be sure to try all of the ISI historic cars.
