rFactor 2 – Lime Rock Reality Check Video

Image Space Incorporated’s Tim Wheatley has created a reality check video of rFactor 2’s new Lime Rock Park track.

Image Space Incorporated’s Tim Wheatley has created a reality check video of rFactor 2’s new Lime Rock Park track.

The brand new track was recently added to rFactor 2 with the release of Build 125.

You can see how the track compares to the real thing below, a comparison with iRacing’s version of Lime Rock can be seen here.

  • speed1

    Very good.

  • Laurent Cortier

Pretty impressive… Wouldn’t think it was so close to the real thing after seing the iRacing rF2 @ LRP…
Time to update rF2 and give it a go, I’m a big fan of LRP πŸ™‚

    • pez2k .

Yes, respect to Tim Wheatley for not only standing his ground on the rF2 track being accurate to the track as it is now, but actually providing the proof in the form of a well-made video.

    • Timpie Claessens

And they have to work with this kind of ridiculous prejudice. “omg its not the same as the awesome laserscanend ir version, must be crap” Respect for developers like ISI

    • Anonymous

Well, that’s because the track changed significantly between the versions iRacing and rFactor have. If the rFactor one looked the same as iRacing, then I would have worried they did something wrong πŸ˜‰

That’s the best video I’ve seen of rFactor 2 so far. Very realistic though I suspect once blown up on your screen the graphics will disappoint here and there. Overall better than expected on lighting and believability.

The track is, of course, now better than iRacing’s!

    • Anonymous

Not forgetting ISI hasn’t enabled all the effects, like sun, and sun glare yet.:)

  • Skytrill

I’d like to point that this video is particularly interesting because the field of view is practically the same on both screens which make it easier to compare the angle of each corners, size of objects and pretty much everything. congrats!

I agree! Thanks Mr. Tim Wheatley.

  • Sigmatc

Great improvement ISI. That’s what we expect from a serious company like you πŸ™‚

  • Avecezar

    It’s a wow!

  • feupa

iRacing developers have a good reason to be worried now!

  • Jay Ekkel

Great video Tim, I also agree on the point Sim vs Sim videos are useless most of the time, other then throwing some fuel on which game is “better” discussion.

With Sim vs Reality videos it gets a benchmark against the only thing that should count, the real thing! And as this one proofs imo it is looking good!

    • Timothy Wheatley

Thanks Jay. Luckily I have good video of every track I have surveyed for ISI, this was the first.

    Good vid,

what I really love though is the beginning of Montoya’s sentence. “Image Space Incorporated’s Tim Wheatley”, lol this sounds like Tim Wheatley is a job, like every company could have it’s Tim Wheatley.

    • Matt Orr

      Ever play Portal 2?

      • Alessio

Tim Wheatley is a member of ISI, not a character from Portal πŸ˜›

the curbs are a different colour πŸ˜›

  • Lion GP

Impressive ISI. That’s what we all expect from ISI. Keep up that great work.

  • StarFoXySxv550

    Good job Mr Wheatley.

ISI, I think you should send Tim to Japan on a track day @ Suzuka as a treat. Don’t forget you video camera, er, I mean toothbrush.

    • Kendra Jacobs

Suzuka and Spa 2 of the most amazing “normal” tracks in the world :), and get them in RF2 with Lime Rock or better quality πŸ™‚

    • Timothy Wheatley

Suzuka is something I really want. πŸ™‚

  • Timothy Wheatley

    Thanks for posting, Montoya.

  • PetrolheadDen

Very nice. Thank you Mr Wheatley.
