rFactor 2 – Lime Rock Preview Video

Image Space Incorporated has released a new preview video of their rFactor 2 simulation, showing Lime Rock in action.

The video shows the American venue of ALMS & Grand Am fame with a bunch of cars racing on it, including the freshly-rebranded Skip Barber car (former rTrainer).

The track seen in the video is still work in progress and will hopefully be part of one of the next build releases.

It wasn’t released by ISI. A tester made it.

  • Ricoo

    It looks nice but 2D folks for a 2013 title… :/

  • http://twitter.com/kr1nz kr1nz

The video is made by a tester, but the track is being made by ISI.

  • Big Ron

Very cool video and a nice track. Lime Rock is a must have for a racing game.

  • hoodge1

Ricco. You a fan of iRacing? Do you love that sim? Just wondering.

  • Drew Duncan

2D folks that you won’t even notice as you pass by at over 100mph. I think it is only fair that you give ISI credit for focusing on the real things that matter…. physics.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=626905826 Timothy Wheatley

There is a mixture of 2D and 3D, as any responsible developer would do it.

  • Ricoo

Maybe but in some titles I can’t even notice 2D. Here there is so much 2D close to track. It’s really very noticeable in the replays. In fact I would prefer no 2D, even a lot less folk but only 3D. Otherwise nice track, looks good. I like a lot reflections effects on the skippy. Nice work. :)

  • Ricoo

True but I hope ISI will be successful with their new title and I’m afraid physics alone could be a bit short for that. But it’s nice to see improvements, they are on the right track.

  • Ricoo

I’m not a so big fan, but I like a lot their tracks. I’m not enough competitive to fully enjoy it tho.

  • hoodge1

What do you think of the graphics on the tracks, trees, and car models of iRacing? Sure I know it’s not up to snuff on AC or Pcars, but an honest answer would be nice hearing back from you.. don’t worry i’m not trolling or trying to start a forum feud. not my style like in times past.

  • hoodge1

    Looks very impressive bud.

  • hoodge1

Hey Tim. How’s the next build coming along.
I’ll tell you this much, when it comes to owning all the sims out on the market and the ones in beta like yours and Pcars, I’m a sim addict when it comes to rF2. Very impressive job on LimeRock Park. I got something to add to your comment, but I gotta go. Stay tuned with my upcoming message tomorrow..
Keep moving forward Tim. Amazing things gonna come out of rF2
    I

  • Ricoo

Why do you focus on iRacing or want to compare? I don’t use iRacing much but for me their graphics are ok, as are rFactor 2, but can be improved. I like RaceRoom graphics too. pCars’s are great but it runs too slow on my dual core. I like GSC graphics too, their new track is nicely done as the previous one.

He wants to get at iRacing having nothing but low res 2D people.

  • hoodge1

Here’s how I see it. Don’t know if you use iRacing or ever have. Their tree’s are the worst part of the sim. You can see 2D greatness all over the place. Their infields unlike rF2 are just lime green in color and they got cardboard spectators which looks plain to me…
rF1 and 2 always had better tree graphics and full grass everywhere on most of the best tracks modders made and ISI. Look at the animations of the flag men and the telemetry guys in the booths in the pit area’s..
Now understand this. BETA. Long way to go and much work to be done. When rF2 goes gold, it will look a lot better then this, and this is iRacing+ allready. If you are a graphics whore (sorry for the pun), then you are missing out on the icing on the cake which is gonna be the physics and tire modelling. NEVER underestimate a WIP when much is left to be done. I was ignorant towards PCars, and i’m a hell of a lot more impressed then I was 2 months ago. Every friday’s update to me is a step in the right direction.
In the end tho, my latest sim favorites will be rF2, AC, Simbins Raceroom experience (I’m on the beta for that. Amazing.), GSC2012, and iRacing.
Now here’s another question for you? Easy. others are reading this as well.
Do you like online over racing against the AI or vissa versa?

  • hoodge1

Truth is in the new comment above Bakkster. Coming from a 40+ year old that started simming when it started. 10 gino plus rigs with cockpits. Logitech and Fanatec hardware..
Yes I’ve been around bud and you’ll find no ridicule in your favorite iRacing from me. Love it. Beast online. Best scanned tracks and gorgously rendered pavement. Gorgous models of the cars. Physics.. Nah. Still needs work, but slowly and hopefully, good ol Krameer bud will figure it out. Still I know how to tune in iRacing and can beast many of the cars I drive with a lot of time and effort in tuning and practice..
    It is what it is.

  • hoodge1

Read the rest of my comments Tim.. Down below. Am I kissing butt.
    Nope.
    Just stating facts.

  • Ricoo

    lol

  • hoodge1

Well there’s a thumb up for ya son..lol’s.

  • Ricoo

    +1 Bro

See, I look at what you said and the iRacing trees (at least, on the recent tracks, everything on the old tracks looks junk) look great to me. It’s the crowds that suck ;)

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

I think this is one of the best looking tracks in sim racing, one of my new top tracks of all time! :)

Really looking forward to some more cars for rF2 to drive on it!

I would really like to see one or a couple of official road car in rF2 to simulate track day racing and road car handling. Something like a Porsche, Ferrari or high end BMW. Classic 60-70′s GT car would work as well :) I guess licensing is the challenge here…

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

Maybe the road version of the Nissan 370z would be a good first step for a road car since I guess ISI already have the license. The external car model and part of the interior is already done as well.

For the physics it would just need revised suspension (not sure how different the geometry is), more weight and road car tires. And please don’t forget to add more max steering lock!!

  • hoodge1

Bakkster buddy. I have no beefs with the trees in iRacing bud. As a matter of fact, with the new tracks that have come out lately, the trees are looking better and better.
Really do you think paper spectators matters to me? Not really. You’re not watching them when you are flying at high speeds. There’s another reason why iRacing uses paper spectators. What do you think that reason is? Oh it’s Hoodge’s quiz weeks here…haha.
No serious tho. I bet your answer will be bang on with mine..

  • Race it!

yes please tell SMS to put this in pcars.

    Project CARS all the way!
