rFactor 2 – Exclusive New Previews

Image Space Incorporated has just released four brand-new previews of their upcoming rFactor 2 simulation, three of which are exclusively being revealed on VirtualR.

The previews show off Renault Clios in action on track and in the pitlane, also included is a cockpit shot of the Corvette C6.R. The shots reveal a massive ammount of trackside and pitlane details as the pit area is no longer a deserted zone with mechanics and marshals crowding the tracks.

ISI is still hard at work to ensure a release later this year, stay tuned for more on rFactor 2′s availability!

rFactor 2 will introduce various improvements to the modding-friendly simulation including weather, driver animations and a refined graphics engine alongside plenty of current and historic motor racing content.

  • Jonathan Ponsard

    Pretty nice!! :-D

  • Ross Siggers

I was unimpressed with the state of rF2 visually, until now. The final post processing passes really seem to be getting good. Now we just need teh community to work on the character models :X

  • RJC_pt

    Estoril?

  • Sam Hazim

I like the approach of ISI to promote the features that iRacing have little or no response to (yet).  Shrewd marketing IMO.

  • nofx

    The Sims Factor 2 :)

this colors remind me mario kart :D

  • Marcel Penzkofer

Not very impressed somehow… especially Shot 2 looks exactly like an existing, quality rFactor1 track…

We just can hope for the physics… which you actually can’t see on a screenshot. Graphically rF2 is already outdated

  • Timothy Wheatley

No post processing FX are active at this time. They have refined the base work and updated the standards, however.

  • Marcel Penzkofer

    Definately

  • Random Username

Irrespective of the graphics quality, the animations, pit crew, changing conditions, etc will all make for a sim with a bit of life to it.

  • f0xx

I dont believe post process effects are ON.

  • Marcel Penzkofer

Even these don’t chance the main engine COMPLETELY. You see the basics here and the basics are rereleased graphics from 2006.

  • Ross Siggers

That’s incredible! Thanks for the info Tim   8-)

  • Jos

hmm screenshot 3 seems te be shadows off and 4 seems they’re on…

  • kimikaze

“Note that these screenshots were captured during the development of rFactor 2 and therefore are not indicative of final content or quality.”

  • Hybrid

    I get that. :)
But still is it to much to ask for some a nice screens with full detail and everything. Sure they can do that.
They really need to do there marketing better imo.

  • Ricoo

Thanks ISI for the previews. :)

WHERE IS THE BUY LINK? :-$

  • Carbonfibre

Behold the power of Post FX on a 2008 game:

We all know what it looked like before.

  • crob ol

Yes, thanks ISI. We appreciate it, and don’t worry about the habitual comments against the graphic level… ;)

  • Gulyo

    Nice ones …

  • Ross Siggers

I actually use the personal settings of Dpeasant3, one of the guys he thanks in the credits. Although not as fundamental as deep as GPL, Boris’s ENBplugin is right up there when it comes to compeltely overhauling the games look for the better :D

  • Ross Siggers

    **fundamentally

  • f12bwth

Not sure why you release the screens at 1140×641.. 1920×1080 is the norm. I know it isn’t set to max bloom HDR eye rape yet but still. Would be nice.

  • Wesley M

They should use this as torture methods, letting us wait on something that great. Looking really good and the pit wall crew for example really adds to the atmosphere.

For some reason though i have the feeling that this is too good to be true.

  • Wesley M

No need for better marketing imo, it is the same as a huge similator, the possible buyers know of it so there is no market to turn to for advertisement. Sure we can get an advertising for Cruden simulators on our televisions, but that would be just a waste of money.

The market it applies to know rF and will in the same way get to know of rF2, advertising is barely needed.

  • Hompe

I dont know what to say about that first picture, maybe some darker shadows… otherwise it looks fecking amazing!

  • Cenotaph

I don’t mind the quality of the screens, looks like they are creating something special with rf2. I hope at the end of the year I can jump from rf2 to iR regularly. And in 2012, GTR3 added to the mix (cmon Simbin, do it!)

  • M1ST4K3

My only complain is the color palette… Colors feel too warm! A little more blueish wouldn’t kill anybody!

Appart from that… nice improvement… That cockpit is yummy :D

    Great job, guy!

  • M1ST4K3

Actually… I guess it was the screen that I have in my room where I connect my notebook, that is over-saturated… In the notebooks’ screen, the colors are fine!

    Nice shots!

  • gpfan

Estoril track seen in is best!!!! Without processing FX tis screens are a very big improvment but, as people said before, shadows, undershadows have to be more intense.

  • Pashalis Gergis

Wow. That’s what I’m talking about!

  • Baule

Live broadcast on the screens in screenshot 3 (and 2). 8-)

  • BSR-WiX

There is that word again ” Exlusive ”   Did we not have a fearce discussion about that word a year ago. ;)
Nice to see some new shots. Animated characters do create modding opportunities.  Good news.
The overall look and quality is still below my expectations, but neverteless i am exited.

  • Mike Oppenheimer

    Good eye, i missed that.

  • stabiz

Not impressed by the graphics (yet), but liking the animated people in the pit lane. Rag doll? :)

  • melanieuk

Just been on RSC site, seems as if they are questioning the Virtualr ‘exclusively’ of the screenshots.
Nice one ISI & VirtualR ;) to me that site doesnt support simracing games or modders.

  • Hybrid

But still better screens would be nicer, right? :)
I mean even Simbin released greater looking screens for their expansion packs.

  • BSR-WiX

Its surely not nice, and i dont really see any problem revealing shots at a certain website, but i have to admit i can understand the part where it says ” why would ISI want any screenshots to be exclusive to anywhere? Wouldn’t they want as much exposure as possible? ”   Running a website myself, that was exactly the thing i was thinking. isnt that a sort of a slap in the face to all the other websites out there?    I guess they will have their reasons for it.  As we learned a year ago, its just not a good idea getting to exited about the ” Exlusive” word.  Before you know it , all hell breaks loose  :)

  • Montoya

I think the colleagues over at RSC have a wrong interpretation of the word “exclusive” going here.

Exclusive does not mean that these screenshots aren’t meant/allowed to be posted anywhere else, in fact I fully expceted them to spread to the usual sites, including RSC.

The exclusive watermark only shows off where the screenshots were shown first, a common practice in the gaming industry. Big gaming sites like IGN or Eurogamer constantly get “exclusive” screenshots of new titles like F1 2011… they get to put their watermark on them and it spreads together with the shots onto other websites (like VirtualR).

Since this is common practice on gaming websites, I think that outrage at RSC is a bit fake but that’s just me.

Again, everybody’s free to spread these shots, I didn’t think I have to explain that.  :)

  • f1racing

well, maybe they thought in a way that virtualr is first site which will be able to show those screens and then others will follow once screens are out?

  • Hybrid

Hehe but there is no Gangi hanging arround this time. So dont think we have to worry. ;)
Exclusive etc i dont really care. We all can see it now. :)

  • Hybrid

    ^^Indeed

  • BSR-WiX

Well… i do rather prefer virtualR then the majority of the commercial sites   :)

  • BSR-WiX

PS: The discussion we had last year is long forgotten and resolved. Looking back we all made the same mistake ” passion for what we love and do ” The war that started should never happened. Things got way out of line. I have to say , a while after the flaming fest, Darren Gangi has resolved the matter in a very mature way. In the end we where all guilty of the same crime. For me, Inside Simracing has regained my respect. I guess Montoya has done something similar. ISR stuff is being posted and enjoyed. At the end of the day, the best choice for everyone. (IMO)

  • Montoya

Indeed, the community is too small to stay devided, in the end we all depend on each other.

Especially since the factors that caused the problems are no longer (and have really been never) part of our community.

  • racedriver

Graphics for a PC game is pretty bad.

  • svizzy

deleted my posts out of respect

  • F1Racer

But you weren’t talking about anything.  >:o     Thank you Mr Vettel. 8-) :-D

  • stabiz

Yeah, but those were photoshopped. Photoshop and preview is a match made in hell. :)

  • Ricoo

    No

  • Predrag Drobac

a quote from the FAST SHOW:

    “sorry, I’ve just c*m”

  • Timpie

Well the only thing that iRacing will have more are laserscanned tracks so I doubt they’re doing it on purpose.

  • lezec

After 6 years of development no improvement in the graphics.  The same graphics as Rfactor 1 2005 UNBELIVEBLE!
YOU NEED TO HIRE SOME BETTER GRAPHIC DESIGNER!
School guy after few years of development have better graphics on his project then you guys.
    EXCLUSIVE NEW PREVIEW…………..Joke.

  • John

It’s realy hard for me not to be a dick… But rFactor 2 looks like it’s in early alpha stage, at least when it comes to the visuals.

  • Stefan Schuchardt

What is the problem of you all? IHMO it looks great and not even finish.

  • Predrag Drobac

What’s with you guys? Are you sim freaks or graphics whores? First of all, read all the comments, in these screenshots postprocessing is OFF, so when you consider, especially first screenshot looks like a huge step forward, unless you are blind or GT5 drunk or something. Christ.

  • Stefan Schuchardt

You talking crap. Arnold is just exceptional good at what he do.

  • Stefan Schuchardt

I agree. They should look at picture 4, it looks AWESOME!

  • Tó Mané

To be honest, i’m very pleased. :-D

  • John

If no one complains, then improvements will not be made… It’s frustrating that new PC sims can’t compete with old console games when it comes to graphics.

  • Tó Mané

I can almost feel the air of that Sintra mountain range. ;)

  • Predrag Drobac

Simply because, for example, on GT5 graphics works at least 20-30 people, and on rF2 graphics works 2 or 3 people? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Same story with movie industry, just complare Avatar’s stunning CGI and animation with some student’s pro CGI project – they both looks good, but the differences are still huge.

  • BSR-WiX

Is it me , or are some comments missing all of a sudden?

  • Montoya

No, It’s an annyoing bug when someone deletes his postings from a conversation string then the whole conversation disappears, sorry.

The comment section will be majorly overhauled very soon (among some other changes) so this problem won’t persist much longer.

  • Timothy Wheatley

Stefan, people just aren’t used to seeing this stage of development. It is totally understandable. But we’d still rather keep people in the know even with the complaints.

  • BSR-WiX

    Ah , i see.  cool

  • lezec

I am graphics designer I know what I’m talking about (no crap) and all new RF2 screenshots are bad: saturation, shadows very low polyghons all are so unnuteral. 2005 picture rfactor almost no difference. You should check sometimes Iracing screenshots or (Optometrist) so you know what I’m talking about.
    Fanboy!

  • Sam

no matter what ISI put out I am buying… Yes i am a FAN.. regardless of its content.. Modders will find ways to improve it and better it…

    Bring it on ISI… $39, $49, $59, $69.. i don;t care I will buy…

Jesus i think i have purchased rF1 3times.. for different reasons..

    Go go go ISI.

  • Wesley M

@racedriver; go and play F1 2010 if you are that post-fx horny

  • Wesley M

the better textures are very obvious, that go along with better reflections for example. The tires will be simulated much better, as for damage, weather etc. these functions along with an more alive enviroment will eat a bit of fps away, and since it is a sim physics and enviroment go before graphics. tbh i even find rF and rF2 better looking compared to these games overusing blur for example, apart from that it looks ugly, it doenst look realistic and wist of all it is annoying and distracting. It is looking good the way it is looking now. Graphics designer my ass

  • Timothy Wheatley

Wow, that’s a huge issue with this comment plugin! Is it possible to disable deletion but allow editing to get around it?

  • sommergemuese

I cant help but it looks quite unrealistic .. like a comic/cartoon

  • Montoya

Nope, there is no way around it as the provider has dropped support for the system, that’s the reason I´ll be switching to another platform soon among some other changes to the site.

Just a matter of a few weeks for me to finish this stuff…

  • SBKRacer

SRT would had this as “rFactor 2 preview sponsored by iRacing!” amazing preview and I can’t wait to buy this!

  • Ricoo

Really those pics look great with nice textures, shadows, and reflections… I don’t understand the critizisms…

Colors are not so important since each modder will be able to choose acording to his artistic preference.

  • f12bwth

The point of the color palette and brightness is to simulate real life not dramatic camera shots or photographs. In real life all colors are vibrant and when the sun is out you have to divert your eyes from large swatches of white. You should have an option in-game to calibrate OR put on different “sun-glasses” on your virtual head. Or for more realism put sunglasses on your head. Thats how cool rF2 could be.. Makes you wear sunglasses at night.

  • M.

The lack of post-processing effects is a little disapointing, but it looks great even without.

So, the question is.. Will the post-processing effects  will be available or not? There’s no single preview shot by ISI that shows the implementation of it, so i’m a little worried. I want RF2 to be most imersive as possible.

  • Mike Oppenheimer

If you think that picture you posted, and any of the pictures above look even close to similar, you need your head examined.

  • Kredo

I wasn’t a huge fan of rF, but if a actual gameplay will show up in a form like these shots – dynamic weather, pits, etc I’ll take it.
+ the mod community that stands behind it … wow.

  • Raphael Dos Reis Oliveira

c’mon guys…are you protesting about these graphics? the pics are nice, mainly the last one…

I thank God for rFactor exists and be a sim racing, with many graphical improvements like these combined with the new techs, I’m sure it will be a nice game…

graphics are the problem? ok, so don’t protest about the handling of F1 2011 when it’s release, or make a “perfect” game…

The first shot reminds me the unique pic that released of GTR3, I don’t know why :S

  • Vapaaneuvos Johannes Rojola

If you think that GT series or NFS or Shift has good graphics, you should get out to the real world for while. They are not even realistic, they are crap. ISI team is doing very fine job, but I wish they would concentrate more on the ‘under the hood’ department where there is quite much room for improvement. Simulation key selling point is not graphics or art, its the engineer side. And I haven’t yet heard or seen any proof of considerable features at this area.

  • Kredo

Still the visual aspect of a racing game is important – what you see on the screen also defines the way to adapt to it, how will it affect on you and how strong you will feel connected with the game. If not, why couldn’t rFactor 2 run on a Minecraft graphic?

  • noro

I will buy rF2 when it’s out! no questions about it!

  • Vapaaneuvos Johannes Rojola

If you want to compare Minecraft and rFactor, difference is that Minecraft is ‘perfect’ game in terms of mechanics. It doesnt seem to matter to players that its graphics are crap. Rfactor is not ‘perfect’ simulation in terms of mechanics, it is not even close. So I see that graphics can be very important selling point because there is not much anything else to sell. I hope there would. I hope they would release detailed rundown of mechanichal improvements in terms of physics and true technical simulation. They won’t because that doesnt exists.

In terms of graphics rF1 is just perfectly fine as is, but they would need to improvement gameplay mechanics as I said. I don’t care seeing animted pit crews when I at the same time can change gears from 4th to 1st without using clutch, just like that, no harm done. Even the core basics are not yet done in rF game. Its just stupid.

Btw, I think iRacing is benchmark in realistic graphics (car sims) right now. If something, they should imitate that as much as possible.

  • Kredo

rFactor 2 doesn’t need to be a GT5 – it’s fine on the stage it is right now. If anything will need an improvement, a future patch or modders will take care of it (look i.e. ENB settings mod for rF1 and more).
You’re right with adding new aspects/futures to the game, but to see whats new we need to get more details about “whats in” and what can be done with the product in the future.

If most things will stay as right now I’m curious if rF2 will follow the appearance of rF1.

  • EmptyBox

Looks like garbage. But, then again default ISI stuff has never actually looked passable. They really do need to stride towards improving their content offering, as well, rFactor is a “sim” determined by largely a bunch of notepad warriors.

    Jus sayin. Flame on.

  • DeDios

I’ll be honest, i’m not impressed at all. Yeah looks nice but..after seeing last iR Suzuka screenshots well…you can clearly see the difference in terms of graphic. Anyway i’m fiducious, and i don’t want judge too much WIP shots. We’ll see when will be done.
About graphic side in a sim: i’m a sim lover and i don’t like too much arcade games but..graphic is an important side too, like a physics and sounds. We’re in 2011, i’d like to see a proper 2011 simulation.

  • Hybrid

But isi showed us ones the cockpit if the Nissan i believe in the rain. That was nice screen on good res with no photoshop. Dont get it why they can do that all the time. Just use normal res with because this just looks like default rFactor screens. :)

  • Mark

I think iRacing is awesome, I love it. Since joining iRacing I haven’t much cared about other sims which has saved me money to spend on iRacing instead. I don’t expect rFactor 2 to match iRacing in many ways – the online competition, the physics, the laser scanned tracks. However, if the features like weather, day/night transitions, dynamic track are any good then I’ll be buying rFactor 2. I also hope it spurs iRacing on to implement those features as well. My PC has room for 2 sims. They’ll both have their strengths and weaknesses. Competition is good and should be encouraged.

  • svizzy

ooops sorry guys. deleted my post because i thought the issue wasn’t worth a discussion from my point of view. deleting the others was not my intention.

  • Firestarter

I`m not impressed with the graphics, textures are not as sharp and good as in iRacing. The shaders are not half as good as they could have been. But then again, some modders have made rF1 look a hell lot better then what the “advertised graphics”.

But the biggest advantage for rF2 is the dynamics of everything. Where iRacing is pretty good looking but sterile, rF2 will have alot of variety in its look and feel. If people can afford iRacing they really can afford rF2 aswell.

  • Pashalis Gergis

Graphic designers have a better pc. And IF you ever was a graphic designer you would respect someone’s work and not start trolling.

  • Pashalis Gergis

People will never understand that rF will never reach the Graphics quality level of those well-promoted arcade racing games but those games will never reach rF. Because they will never offer what rF does.. ;)

  • Pashalis Gergis

“textures are not as sharp and good as in iRacing” Does ISI work on this game just in order the people to compare it with iR? Each game has its own advantages and disadvantages and iif we started a discussion we would never end..

  • Pashalis Gergis

You know what did I mean ;) , and oh I forgot about it, I’ll never copy Seb again !

  • shum94

Maybe a comparison with Crysis 2 would satisfy you.
IR is the direct opponent of rFactor 2, thats why we compare rF with it..

  • Riches

I think still images don’t do just to the final result.
A sim should be driven not examined by every pixel.

For sure the latest iRacing tracks look a somewhat better, but for the price of 4 of those iR tracks you get a whole new Sim a bunch of tracks and loads of new cars to play around with.
Also you can race unlimited online races and much better AI in the offline sessions.

I expect the biggest changes are under the “hood’ of the new software.
Mainly in the physics and the driver feedback department.

I’m sure the modding community with their endless efforts can do miracles with the new toolbox that arrives with rF2.

Looking forward to open our new Pandoras box.

Just to be cool, like the rest out here, i will also find some thing to complain about also.
It looks like the trackmarshalls still have their funky tight spandex overalls on.
Showing of their fat 9 to 5 office buts!
Marhall overalls should be wide, as they are worn over their normal clothes most of the time.

  • rusty

    awesome! cant wait ISI !!!

dont let the pixel poofs divert your attention away from whats important. dont forget these clowns are the ones who bought shift2, f1 2010 and numerous other sim failings  :-[

    there i said it lol

  • kimikaze

I agree. Many games look fabulous on pictures or on youtube videos. But wen you startin play some on own computer, you actualy dont share the same feeling anymore, as when you joust watching preview. But my experience with Rfactor is quite opposite. Nothing extraordinary in previews, but better and better when playing for real in my computer. So we must wait on motion pictures in full detail on our computers to see what will hapend. I am sure we will not disapoitment.

  • Heimdall Exus

I would love to know why they can’t take those screens on a decent configuration. It looks like no AA and low settings for some reason.

  • Jos

ISI, can we have some moving footage, please! :)

  • Der_KHAN

will you return to a regular thread view? (post displayed by date, ability to use quotes)

it’s very diffficult to find new posts with the current system.

  • sommergemuese

    Please?

To be “hardcore” I dont have to play Shift 2 or whatever??

I like Racing Games in General I don’t get it. There is not black and white, there is grey as well. So I am a clown? Okay if you think so.

Think about it and who is “fail”…

To the graphics: Just compare to iRacing or Cars.. Nothing more to say

  • StarFoXySxv550

    I will.
Is he saying rFactor 1 or rFactor2 is #1

  • StarFoXySxv550

If iRacing doesn’t care why do you?

  • StarFoXySxv550

What’s the word on dynamic time-of-day?

  • Steve Farrell

LMAO The graphics in that screenshot arent any where near as good as the screenshots shown of rFactor 2. I think some of you guys are stuck to your computers too long and are getting eyesight problems from doing so.

  • Pashalis Gergis

Ye but I never heard someone applauding rF2. Everyone is just trying to underestimate a game that hasn’t even been released. None said about the features that rF2 will have while iR doesn’t even plan to include in the near future.

  • Pashalis Gergis

    Lolz.

  • Jorge Araujo

Game hardly look any exciting. But I bet it’s going to be sweet anyway. And -1 for those who think you can’t play Shift 2 or Gran Turismo to be considered hardcore. Their loss to not enjoy anything else beside rFactor.

  • Fazerbox

    Good Point!
You Appreciate Marvelous graphics only during replays.
During race you are concentrate only on Track and Cars and you haven’t time to look pixels color and reflections.
I agree that graphics is important too and I understand people want a stunning graphics.
But in a Race Game,  Car Physic, FFB, AI is much important than Graphics. This doesn’t means we have to drive cubes with wheels! But this is not the case.
For me, rF1 graphics + rF2 physics should worth money, obvious better if graphics is improved.

Remember pictures are a WIP so don’t be scared. In effect ISI has a singular way to promote rFactor2, sometimes seems they don’t care advertising and quality of published pictures.
Other company like EA publish very detailed and beatiful images. I think this means ISI is confident that rF2 will be a good product and it will be appreciated for its simulation degree… and I think so too!

    Max.

  • Wesley M

you are comparing a purpose close up shot of something that isnt even made in game to an in game shot? that is ridiculous…

  • Wesley M

indeed it should be like GT5, a real sim. Oh wait…

  • Riches

Are you a cool grey or warm grey person?
    Grey has many shades!

  • Rustik Prodius

Sorry for my english, but – is 100% FAKE FAKE and FAKE!!!

    1. NO DEVELOPMENT rFaktor 2 is underway.
    2. All screens - made by different people in different 3D applications and compositing bitmaps.
    3. Renders very bad and have no case to a real game.

MDE … someone obviously provokes and cheats all the drivers.

  • Jonathan Ponsard

Yes, you are right… so how can you explain that these screenshots are on the official website? :-D

  • Ross Siggers

I’d say don’t feed the troll…but instead I’m on the floor laughing at how bad he is

  • Rustik Prodius

    well, I’ll show you.
    1. doubts at once the same has caused proschlogodnie screens, which were common installation of games such as GT Legends and NASCAR
    LINKS ON GOOGLE
    2. 2. “official video” - the imposition of GTR2 + rFaktor - with post processing in afterefects
    3. I play in a virtual race for more than 12 years. And evlyayus former racer. From experience I can judge what is truth and what is not.

  • stabiz

    THERE WAS NO MOON LANDING

  • stabiz

Considered hardcore? Is that some badge of honour you wear somewhere? I suspect those that dont play Shift 2 and Gran Turismo simply dont enjoy semi-sims. Shockingly simple, with no added drama or conspiracy.

  • Hompe

Yeah you filmed the moon landing and added wind to the flag stabiz…

  • GeraArg
  • Predrag Drobac

    ROFLCOPTER!
    Best troll ever!
So, to be sure, every time we double clicked the rF, GTR2, iRacing, or GTL icon we’ll enter the Matrix? Now I know why the hell I have that hole in my head – for plug’n’play!

  • GeraArg

Hompe here’s the truth, Stabiz put a flag with his youtube channel on the moon

    :-P :-P :-P

  • Hompe

So thats why he has so many subscribers…. :)

  • DeDios

    LOL

  • stabiz

    hehe!

  • Steve Farrell

I think some of you guys are stuck to your computers too long and are getting eyesight problems from doing so. Those screenshots look great to me. I dont understand what all the crying is about. No matter what racing game is shown or announced somebody has to complain about how rubbish the graphics are even if the graphics were fantastic.

  • Mike Oppenheimer

    Oh i needed a laugh today…. :-D

  • Pashalis Gergis

By FAR, the most ridiculous comment ever posted in VirtualR.

  • Ricoo

Is it possible for ISI to confirm or deny if rFactor 2 will have ambient occlusion as rFactor Pro has?

    Thanks

    http://rfactor-pro.com/Services.aspx :
“High-Definition – near photo-realistic circuit models running ambient occlusion.”

all we can see and comment is graphics, and it’s not the best game graphics ever seen. Everybody must agree with this. I’m not affraid to say that ISI lack of talented graphic designers, as well as SMS for instance lack of talented physicists … I wonder why don’t these companies share their experience and make something absolutely amazing together, joining what both of them can do the best.

  • Kai Odloschinski

    Made may day! :D

  • racedriver

lol any modern or even some year older game have beeter graphics. I am not asking like bullshots of Forza or in game details of GT. But the graphics should be much better than thismake it playable for other sim fans who have older hardware but at least those who have nice spec should get better looking game than this

  • Justin ForzaBarça D’Cruze

Doesnt help that the screenies are low res. Really not impressed with the lighting in these but I do remember reading on the ISI forums that there would be an option to turn on HDR – something which clearly isnt being utilised in these screenshots.

  • Zsolt Jakobey

please, just a little bit thinking. i know the isi didn’t modelled too detailed objects, and didn’t used hq textures
BUT if RMT can do these kind of models with textures http://www.abload.de/img/279818_101503165379206woml.jpg and Com8 and VirtaLM can do the best quality tracks, so we shouldn’t worry about isi’s work. btw isi is work with lower poly and lower quality textures because they want other people can play with rF2 whose have weaker pc.

it should be better, or more beautiful, or more more more.. but why? if we want better and more, more… we get from the modders team, which is better or more beautiful that the iR or other sim racing games.

  • Ahmad

rFactor 1 is still so amazing, and I still log hours of track time per week/month with it, that I don’t even need to see any previews or WIP of rF2 to know that I’m going to buy it as soon as it becomes available. I wish I could pre-order it.

  • Aaron Carlisle

Luc Van Camp, a.k.a “SLN”, is who’s doing the track texturing for rFactor 2.  He has worked on just about every VirtuaLM track, and did all of the track texturing for the new Reiza Studios game, Game Stock Car.  He is a brilliant texture artist, and I’m sure rFactor 2′s final release will include some of his best work yet.

  • Aaron Carlisle

Tim Wheatley said there will be HDR, Bloom, and SSAO post processing.

  • Silly(c)One

Hhahahaha, nobody even said hardcore, m8… Get off your high horses and actually try to understand what he meant, you totally missed the point.

I don’t think he was pointing you out, but with your reaction, you proved you ARE a clown indeed.
Speak about shooting yourself in the foot :D

  • Silly(c)One

What don’t you guys understand in those 3 words : WORK IN PROGRESS ?

As Pashalis said, rF2 is full of dynamic features that can’t be seen on a screenshot, and also ISI doesn’t release these pictures for marketing purpose but for transparency.

If any of you still have more than 5 minutes of memory span, you’ll have noticed that ISI releases screenshots showing off only a few features at a time, without any postprocessing.
If you can add up all the pictures released in your mind, mixing all the different effects, you’ll understand rF2 is already much more beautiful than any of you even realised, because you’re only thinking fractionnally and can’t see further than your own nose.

  • Silly(c)One

Don’t even bother, people just LOVE to whine and complain… It gives them some impression of self importance or something of the kind. Egos are so fucked up these days.

  • Silly(c)One

But first, they should open their minds, because their eyes are working fine ;)

  • Zsolt Jakobey

I understand, just whos say it isn’t enough good i gave them right.
tw i really like these pictures, and i really wait this game. i guess it is beat the iR.

  • Jermaine Davy Andy Smit

    @Zsolt Jakobey<img src=”http://cdn.js-kit.com/images/icon10-external-url.png”/>
They picture that you see there has bin edited. The person who did that did a great job do!
The car itself is very good in model terms but it looks amazing because of the editing in Photoshop. This was done for rf1 f1 cars also with Fsone someone made it look like 100 times better then what rfactor 1 looks like. It is just a edited thing and i wish it will look like this but it wound. But at the end i dont think rf1 looks bad. It depends on track and model. And myself find the grafisch good enough. I mean at the end i just whant feeling with driving and get as close to real driving as possible. And looks are not the most part of it. It helps but it does not define it. I mean look at f1 2010 yeah it looks way better (aldo it does not look great only the tracks look amazing) but it drives bad!

  • GT3_RSR

Honestly… the lighting is tragic so far. Like a 10 years old game. Hope they’re gonna fix it and some post effects will make it better. Otherwise modeling is more than enough for me. I still hope this is gonna be the best PC simulation ever but it also could be the Duke Nukem Forever of the PC sims O:-)

  • Luc Van Camp

Thank you very much for the compliment :) . To set the records straight though, I have never done any work for Virtua_LM, and I’ve had to limit myself to terrain textures mainly for Game Stock Car, due to other commitments (i.e. rFactor 2). That proved to be hectic sometimes :) .

  • jonneymendoza

Honestly, is this relaly rfactor 2? it looks exactly like rfactor 1!!!

  • jonneymendoza

i totaly agree with you. damm fanboys make me sick. this game could look like a 2D racing game fanboys will still lump it up

  • JGoenR

    Looks great!

  • Wish Bone

This is great but where’s the in-game pics of the laser scanned Nordschleife?????

  • DR.Joint

It already looks better, and still pics are without “post-effects”

  • Ricoo

It lacks ambient occlusion and soft shadows. Otherwise it is rather nice.

  • Ricoo

Thanks for info, I hope they will add soft shadows too.

  • Zsolt Jakobey

I’m agree with u. i just wrote that with “haters” mind. so if i would be a hater. i like the models i like the textures. and yes, not all of are these. the most important thing is the physix. if the rF2 had same physix in the first one i’ll love the 2 too.

  • Steve Farrell

Nobody has to agree that the graphics is rubbish because such a comment itself is rubbish.

  • Steve Farrell

@ jonneymendoza : If you honestly think it looks exactly the sameas rFactor 1 then you need to gety your eyes tested.

  • jonneymendoza

    looks bad imo
