rFactor 2 – Autodromo di Mores Released

Image Space Incorporated has released the newest track for their rFactor 2 title – Autodromo di Mores.

Located on the Italian Island of Sardinia, the track was opened in 2003 and mainly hosts club-level racing and track days. The rFactor 2 version will feature two layouts, the longer of which is 1.6 kilometers in length.

The track is also currently building an even longer layout, this one is not included in the 1.0 release though.

It is a really nice track.. still wondering why I can’t get my rF2 to look as good as yours. Do you maxed out everything?

  • Guilherme Cramer

Do you have HDR on? It helps a lot for the visual appeal of rF2. Word of caution is anything that is dark or black is “broken”, and it’s the worst thing for night time, so you must choose to race with bland regular graphics that don’t break (and so far don’t really show what a sunny day is) or have an unfinished HDR effect.

    Nice textures

My rig rather old but yes I can manage to turn on hdr + everything maxed out, I can still get 40 fps (zero AI though)
.. maybe it is the AA even AA 1 will drop the fps about 50% on my system so I never use it

  • wajdi nujeidat

    Every thing on high 5760*1080p!

It’s a fairly short and easy to learn track with a nice layout. I like it.

  • Guilherme Cramer

AA x2 is the least you should go. I’d love to run HDR but I don’t because of the color issue, as I said. So for me it’s rFactor 1.5

What hardware are you running to get more than a minimal of 60fps at such a resolution? My factory overclocked GTX670 will bottom out at much less FPS at most ISI tracks. I have to go to medium/low settings with no HDR, making rF2 look worse than the best rF1 content.

You need to get custom HDR profiles, they look a lot more natural than the default.

rFactor2 minimum system requirements, is a joke, if users are having trouble running the game, with their current medium to high spec system, just imagine how those that meet or just pass the minimum requirements will feel, ISI needs to increase the minimum requirements, a 256MB video card isn’t going to cut it.

That screenshot should have a line of Clios & Skippies in a parade…. I’m not sure any other car can race here. Great looking track, well done even if the layout leaves something to be desired.

I run a GTX760 4GB and at 5296×1050 I get good frame rates. I don’t benchmark so I can’t tell you what sort of frame rates but with HDR off, everything else on High (except effects… the smoke effects driving too much), Level 8 FSAA I have no problems. I don’t use multiview either because it messes up my sense of speed. I run full screen (I’ve read in the ISI forums that you can gain a lot of FPS running windowed but the game is not as smooth for me.

  • Guilherme Cramer

Even the custom HDR profiles have these color issues. It has to be an issue with the current system.

I’m reading this sentence by you on different places…but honestly I still don’t understand what do you mean exactly with “broken”. Do you have any proper description of the issue? Thanks.

  • Guilherme Cramer

Hi Tuttle! I’d guess “oversaturated” is a better way of describing it. The very dark and black colors don’t behave well, they end up contrasting to super reflective black/very dark purple variants. The cars also turn too shiny.

As an example, If you run the Brabham or DTM mod, just look at the steering wheel and see how there’s a clear definition of an area at the top of the wheel affected by the lighting and the other that is just too dark. The fastest way to showcase the biggest issue comes from driving at night without lights, like taking the Brabham in old Spa and see for yourself. It’s an hallucinogenic experience :P.

Turns out the culprit is fxaa. Turn it off, lower the shadow to high and shadow blur to optimal.. cranked up the AA.. voila! it looks much much better. It looks very dull with HDR turn off so I prefer it on
