RevHeadz for iOS – Now Available

Back in September, I posted a first story on RevHeadz for iOS and the final version is now available in the Apple App store!

Created by Chris Wise, Derek Long & sound engineer Greg Hill, RevHeadz brings state of the art engine sound replication to mobile devices.

The interactive app does not just play sound samples but allows users to rev & shift to fully experience each engine sound.

The
 application
incorporates
sonic
models
of
engine
sounds
with
 real‐world
 mechanical physical parameters
including
 speedometer,
tachometer,
 accelerator,
  brake,
drive
ratios,
 drive
lashing,
engine
load,
 simulated
tyre
slip/grip,
gear‐shifts
 and
 backfire
 logic.

The app is available for free on the iTunes App store, coming with three different engines to experience (American Muscle V8, V4 Sports Bike, European V12).

Furthermore, 8 themed sound packs adding a wide variety of engines to the app are available, selling for 99 cents each.

Now hook this up to the data output of the sim, and loop the sound back to the computer.

Or… to your real cars systems so it pumps out the engine noise of your choice through your sound system. I believe the new Clio Sport does this.

just downloaded….. hooked it up to a nice sound system. This is pretty fun to use. The engine inertia model is cool too. Well done.

You can buy a cheap ODBII Bluetooth adapter off ebay and plug it into the ECU of any new car. I do this on my 2010 Focus XR5 and use Torque on my Android. Same thing could be done with this sound app I guess (if it supported it)

That would be great except my daft 2001 car doesn’t have an OBD2 adaptor.
