Reiza Studios – New Simulation Development Studio Opens

A new force on the PC simulation market is about to emerge as Reiza Studios are now open for business. Located in Londrina, Brazil, Reiza Studios have been founded by Renato Simioni & Fernando Oliveira Jr.

The company is currently working on their first-ever PC racing titles, details on this project are expected to be disclosed in a few days.

What makes this a very interesting story for sim racers are the names involved with this new studio. Renato Simoni has been the physics mastermind behind the highly-praised Grand Prix 1979 mod for rFactor and went on to work with Simbin on their GTR Evolution, STCC – The Game and RACE On titles.

Also associated with the new studio are rFactor track gurus Alex Sawczuk (The Lonely) & Luc van Camp (SLN) as well as CTDP’s Alex Borro (afborro) and rFactor physics & AI expert Niels Heusinkveld (niels_at_home). Combining some of the most talented people our community has to offer, Reiza Studios certainly has the potential to produce great titles that will hopefully bring some more competition to the simulation market.

More info on the new studio can be found on their official website.

    Oh, exciting!

  • Howie47

Great news for sim racing. Can’t wait to see what thier first project is.

  • Uff

This is a very good news! Can’t wait to see what their first project will be! Thumb up!

  • Siggs

Sounds very promising, good luck to all involved!

  • Diromo

Can we expect ’09 graphics (like GRID, DiRT etc. ) ?

  • Chrisuu01

Holy smokes what kind of greatness will this make?!

Hopefully Richard Burns Rally 2 or something like that

  • Chrisuu01

Diromo i wouldn’t get the hopes as highs as that TBH

  • logos

Wow, these are one of the most creative and talented modders in the community! Cannot wait for more info on their projects.

Perfect news to give the holidays even more of a xmass feel.
I wish them all the luck and hope we can count in another innovating sim company soon.

    Interesting,
    curious about their first project,
    good luck!

  • phil23

Very exciting. Look forward to learning more

Interesting. I hope him a lot of succes.

It will be a Moding Company? more or less like Simbin, using an external game motor to create cars and tracks.
Or they have intention tu use his own engine?

Best of luck! These guys have our trust, hopefully they won’t disappoint.

  • carbonfibre

It is interesting indeed and I wish them the best of luck, but it feels like we’re losing part of the community in all honesty. That is if they plan on migrating to a new platform to make money which is the case in most matters. However, there is a fair chance this has something to do with rFactor2 and the new content security features coming in. In which case rF2 very well has the potential to become like the MS flight sim community where a separate class of professional modders who make legitimate amounts of money from mods without the complicated licensing problems.

There is an article in ASS that goes into a few more details.

  • Torino

There´s an interview with their head-honcho Simoni in the latest ASS with more details.

It´s a very cool initiative indeed, given the sheer amount of talent involved one can only expect great things to come. A breath of fresh air for the sim-racing world :)

    Best of luck guys!

    Looking forward!!!

    Sounds like Simbin 2

  • DW

Very brave move – I wish him well. He is aiming at a market that appeals to me but succeeding commercially will be very difficult.

  • DW

    Sommergemüse: Sounds like Simbin 2

In some ways yes, but its a far smaller team and no publisher backing. Its closer to The Sim Factory 2 IMO.

  • Husky42

    DW

Do you even remember when simbin went commercial?

They initially had no major support and it came, and then GTR came.

This has the same feeling, they will end up getting a publisher.. how can they be a legit company without one? They still need publishing/digital distribution through a legitimate outlet.

This is indeed Simbin 2, and its good to see people in the community being able to take their talent commercial.

I think I should really turn my hobby into my own business in the future too :sd:

  • http://historicgt.8.forumer.com Rantam

Congrats to everyone involved in this project, specially to Niels, for obvious reasons

    Hope you all the best!

    Best regards

  • stabiz

Very cool! Lots of talent, so this will be good for all sim racers.

  • ForzaBarca88

Wow….no shortage of talent there
I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with, good luck!

  • commodore

You mentioned GP79 but you forgot to mention the best mod in rFactor that was also created by Renato – CARTFactor!

  • DW

.. they will end up getting a publisher.. how can they be a legit company without one?

You don’t need a publisher, but self publishing does limit your sales, just as with books.

ISI released rFactor without a publisher. iRacing don’t have a publisher. LFS doesn’t have a publisher. NetKar Pro doesn’t have a publisher. I don’t think The Sim Factory or 2Pez have a publisher.

  • Alan Sutton

Certainly some very talented people there.
I think anything that is produced by this team would be definatly worth buying imho.

commodore: You mentioned GP79 but you forgot to mention the best mod in rFactor that was also created by Renato – CARTFactor!

Renato was responsible for our physics in CART Factor. The rest of RLD has nothing to do with Reiza.

  • xilix

Holy shit. Niels is a physics god. Period. It’s about time he got down with developing a title. Niels is hands down among the 3 best ISI physics guru’s out there. Race On has some physics problems, namely the fact that they used physics templates for their street cars instead of true, unique physics for each car. GTR Evolution also went the same route and used shared suspensions and other physics attributes instead of using real world data for each car, which IMO, goes against the entire idea of a simulation.

I’m hoping that this new venture brings back the one thing that has gone missing from sim titles in the past years – unique, per-car physics that are developed from the ground up, using real world data and information, and using the absolute latest in physics development techniques. Just thinking about a title where every single car has unique, from the ground up physics based on real data makes my mouth water, and with Heusinkveld on board, I can see no other route being taken. This is the best damn simulation news I’ve heard in the past 2 years. I couldn’t be happier that Niels has been picked up and that his expertise will be behind an all new title. I’ll be at the edge of my seat on this one. I’ve had my head on my hands for so long up until now.
