Reiza Studios – Interview & First Ever Render

Posted on March 10th, 2010 in

Back in December, a very interesting new sim racing development studio opened as Renato Simoni and Fernando Oliveira Jr. managed to get some of rFactor’s most famous modders on board to start commercial projects.

In January, Reiza Studios released a first teaser video of their upcoming work, showing a mysterious open-wheel car at Jerez. Our friends over at DrivingItalia.net had the chance to talk to Renato Simoni, hoping to get some answers for the countless community questions regarding Reiza Studios.

In the interview, Simoni explains how the idea to start his own studio came to fruition and shares some insight on their first commercial project. Even though he won’t reveal the exact content yet, a first render you can check out below has been released. Furthermore, Simoni reveals that the title will be using ISI’s trusted gMotor 2 engine and will most likely be distributed using the Internet instead of a publisher.

Best news since rFactor 2. Period.

  2. dknine

Yes very good news, i look forward to their simulation.

So far it looks like their trying to make an ‘rFactor-1b’. Gathering some community round that might prove to be a problem even if the simulation turns out better than rFactor itself. The main thing that gets me worried is content and licensing though :(

    I can’t wait.

    gmotor 2? Goodbye I don’t want it

  6. Sensekhmet

Oh no, not gmotor again… on the upside, that’s some old school cockpit… maybe a GPL 2 thingy?

Great news. Dont go to mad on the GMotor2 critisisme. You would be amazed what could be done with it, now the average PC is faster.

I know developers have to be careful what they say, but I didn’t learn anything new in that interview.

GO REIZA! push gm2 to its limits and beyond! looking forward to the progress!

    Ooh god.
news: ‘SimBin is making a new game based on the GM2 engine..’
public: ‘boooh, can’t they make a new engine.’

news: ‘Reiza is basing their next game on GM2.’
public: ‘SWEET!, I’m sure it can be pushed to it’s limits and will be great.’

    What the F is that?

I mean, I don’t care, I love modern SimBin games even though they use a old engine, and if this is good, I’ll love this too. But why are people complaining when SB does this, and cheering when Reiza does this? I really don’t get it.

    (waits for flaming)

i don’t care what engine it is based on, gm2’s limit is yet to be reached… that’s all i wanted to say

man you again! what a moron!

The funny thing is that Sommertroll blasts this project for being a payware mod, while at the same time running around praising NFS Shift (endlessly), a game made by a modding crew who started out with the “payware mod” GTR.
