The day has come, after lots of hints and guessing, iOpener has revealed the legendary driver that Real-Time Racing beta testers can now race against at Zolder.
Guesses in the community have swung kind of wild as all kinds of current and past Formula One drivers and other racing legends have been linked to iOpener based on the hints.
So who is the driver from north of the globe, wearing a red suit and having a memorable laugh? Follow this link to find out but prepare yourself for a surprise as no one has been able to guess the driver correctly…

ok, gotta give them credit for the hype they created around this and how it had everyone guessing who it might be.
We got pwned, lets face it :)
But what a bloody anti-climax. Well at least the fat git has a weight disadvantage.

Ho-ho-hoo thanks for all the fun guys
On a side note: we have shipped a new batch of beta keys, so if you have preregistered yourself but didn’t receive a key yet, please check your email’s inbox and junkmail folder if there is a key waiting for you to download the brand new santa and race him around the track!
Merry Christmas, up up up and awaaaaay!

I admit to not being in the know on this project but I hope they will use telemetry to define the in-sim grip levels that are available on any given day, or it will be as weak pointless and mystifying an exercise to me as the cheery seasons greetings taking the form of a disappointing joke on anyone who was actually interested in the identity of their legendary driver. lol

Sorry about that, I stand by what I said but acknowledge it was said in a slightly heated and negative way which is never really necessary.

Yeah real funny. Thanks for nothing. Next time you guys have an idea, let it go.
Maybe more time can be spent improving the beta instead of bs.

Alright maybe that was a little harsh, but still dev time imho could be better spent.

I suspect the real driver they had planned to test the system pulled out and they are trying to save face with this crap. They have been proclaiming everywhere for several months they had a big name on the way to help with testing; now they pull this nonsense out of their hats, trying to make it look like it was a joke all along; not buying it.

Thats the beauty of internet! Make up a story and get everyone with you on it, only to find out later that its all a hoax!
But then again we’ve been proven otherwise on some occasions…

The news first broke about two weeks ago. How does that constitute “several months”…?

Its funny though, how things turn out to be at the end. Persona this, persona that, it shows that you don’t really need a “famous” driver to really enhance a sim beyond any, its more like a publicity stunt.

I have to hand it to RTR for putting this kind of courage, it takes balls. Still very much interested into what this project has to offer at its final.

Well I’m not one to say “I told you so” but I did :)
That said, it was funny although I wonder if the last laugh will be on them…Santa doesn’t sell games, either as a legend (he gives stuff away) or as a gimmick.
Of course with hindsight, “notable laugh, red suit, from the North” the answer does make you kick yourself :D Especially since it was obvious Simbin wouldn’t have a real driving legend…

I just did a few laps with Santa and I’m suprised that it’s quit fun for a ride on the Zolder circuit.

I’m pretty sure they aren’t doing this for sales. More like a “Merry Christmas” message for the beta testers. This will not be in the retail version of the game, I’m sure of it…

Some people are taking this far too seriously. It’s good the devs have fun as well and give us a funny present..

iOpener Dev Dept didn’t waste anytime on this, there was some interesting finds and solutions that came from adding this in game as a Xmas LOL… It’s not there for the release product… And as Michael stated, it was pretty much told to you whom it would be…
This was a quick addition for the holidays and was all meant as a bit of a laugh…
