    Dito Chris.
I’m looking forward to test the sound engine. So far, the sound of SimBin’s new engine was the most impressive part for me in all those previews.

Pysics are locked to something they call “Amateur Driving Model” though…

“The teaser uses the Amateur Driving Model and is set to deliver the most accessible racing experience possible.”

Restart your steam.. that should fix it

Thank you, restarted steam and that fixed it. Came to edit my original post and someone is already to the rescue! Thanks again!

why not let people choose between amateur or pro driving model ffs…

  • Jorge Verheyden

Think i’ll wait till we can drive as pro’s

Mildy disappointing that we can’t use the pro physics. never mind turning off the racing line, and TCS,

    Steam Only?

    SimBin, y u do dis??

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alex-White/655487760 Alex White

    Nothing wrong with steam.

  • C4

Difference shouldn be that big though according to their QA

The Amateur driving model is designed to cater for casual gamers and
seasoned racing gamers alike and this is done through the careful use of
two driving aids, ABS and traction control, nothing more.
    (…)

The premise for the Amateur difficulty is that is runs the Amateur
Driving model, tire wear, tire heating, ambient temperatures and fuel
use disabled. Damage is kept to visuals only and the cars are using
    fixed setups.” http://www.virtualr.net/raceroom-racing-experience-diego-sartori-qa

Doesn’t look like a big deal for hotlapping, if TC and ABS can be disabled.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alex-White/655487760 Alex White

Apart from that it looks and feels pretty good! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Eric-Potvin/1005488777 Eric Potvin

Thank God this is on Steam, otherwise I wouldn’t have tried it. ;-)

  • C4

Release on Steam does make sense, yeah…

But Raceroom is already a download portal itself http://www.raceroom.net . No reason to not put up that “teaser” version their in my opinion.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lasse.j.ougaard Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

Very enjoyable, and the future looks bright from Simbin. There’s a LOT of TC on though :P

I’m down to 1:23,8 – and like any hotlapping down there it’s just a quest to see who can cut the track the most, without getting penalized / invalid laps.. That’s why i hate timetrial..

Amateur driving model only? Nice way to please your original audience SimBin. :(
Why does it feel like there has to be some kind of problem with every modern sim? pCARS looks amazing but the handling is not realistic yet, rFactor2 is good to drive but it looks quite old in it’s current state.
I’ve been looking forward to RRE so much – great graphics and SimBin quality physics, but instead we only get to try ‘amateur’ mode? I know it’s only a teaser… please tease me with the full sim handling option!!! (yes the option, we are intelligent enough to choose which we prefer).
What next? Assetto Corsa comes out with only gamepad controller support?
Sorry for rant, i’m just having a bad day.

low-end PC here, E7500 + 260 GTX, ran butter smooth on high settings

altought is disapointing to not have a “pro mode”, the game felt pretty good.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Szilárd-Hompoth/100002333117428 Szilárd Hompoth

Seems pretty good. FFB needs some tuning on my DFGT.
A big disappointment for me that the wheel turns only 240 degrees (if I’m not mistaken). After so many years…
Another deal is that there is not garage mode yet, neither can we set up the game from the pause menu.
The new menu system seems pretty but maybe a little nonfunctional, console-like I have to say.
The physics seems pretty good after a few laps (it’s night here and I don’t want to awake my family). I’m looking forward to try it out with all those assistance turned off. The car has not such a good feeling as in rF or in GSC, nkPro yet.
    Transmissions seemed ok.
The engine sounds were amazing, can’t wait to hear again.

Looking forward to any update and new functions, nice work SimBin!

  • Eric Zehnder

Perhaps overreacting a bit but as I have no real, full Sim game to play at this point I feel your pain.

Seems like Assetto Corsa will be the first of the upcoming games to release in a full, next-gen hardcore Sim. Looking forward to it.

the incar sounds are superb but I expected much better from the TV cam…

it sounds hardly better then rf2 in tv cam.

If DX9c is all that’s required it seems strange it won’t run on XP. Anyone tried?

Just finished doing some laps in, so my thoughts thus far:

Graphics: Nice. Not jaw dropping like Shift2. Clean, no fluff. I still think real time lighting like Shift would be nicer. No need to bloom or overly excessive motion blur. Actually I wouldnt mind a tad bit of motion blur on the sides. Anyway its an upgrade from Race07 but like I said not jaw dropping. That said, I chose the highest graphics settings and it runs 60fps in most areas on my 3ghz C2D, 4gb, HD6850@1680×1050. Basically if you can run Race07+ fine and you’re happy with it, you’ll have no problems with RRRE.

Sound: Excellent as usual from Simbin. I really like the stutter when you shift. Sounds great. I’ve been playing Shift too much Im so happy there isnt annoying transmission whine.

Controls: I may be i the minority here but I play with a gamepad. The 360 pad works great. It recognizes it perfectly. Race07 worked with the 360 gamepad, but only 1 axis worked on the triggers, so no holding down brakes while pulling right trigger on gas to do burnouts. It was one or the other. Also the 360 has pretty bad deadzone, must be set to at least 20% to negate it. Worked fine for steering, but looking left/right was impossible since as soon as you left your thumb on the right stick it would fall slightly left or right. Anyway no problem with RRRE.

I prefer to put X for upshift and A for down. I also turn off speed sensitive steering. I’ll assign left shoulder button for neutral, right for headlights. Beyond that the controls feel great. More refined than Race07. And no laggy bullcrap like Shift. I will say the menu system is nice and slick, wish that you could use it with the gamepad though. It seems tailor made for a gamepad too, but you cant navigate around the menu with it.

Oh well Im sold. I would have preferred GTR3 but I’ll take RRRE.

  • Anonymous

    nice!

  • Harold

I would not even call this a sim.

It looks like it is GT5 target for the pc. Everything is dumbed down these days to appeal to the wider audience, it is a real shame. It might be casual fun, but if you want to learn something, challenge yourself, there are not many people aiming to provide this. Just suck you in for 5 secs with some flash graphics or sound, then what?

It’s like pop music, never lasts, but always there in another form.

  • Eric Zehnder

    It’s a demo.

  • http://www.facebook.com/the.bastard.poet Alejandro Ramirez

    Here’s my opinion:

Menus and others: Quite easy to browse trough, has a clean nice look and is very intuitive. Apparently, the UI is defininitive since it has every mentioned option of the full version of the game blacked out. I would’ve liked however a little more options when it comes to graphics settings. My laptop, being a dual-graphics one, doesn’t get along well with “auto” setups since they only recognize the lesser HD6620 and not the 6750.

Graphics: I ran it on “Low” graphics on my HD6750M and found no problems with it. The background, even on low setting, looks very well made and the car as well. Interior details are also very well done. As said in other comments, nothing absurdely jaw-dropping like pCARS but definitely something acceptable for a last-gen sim.

Sound: Damn bloody great. Period. The gears, that V8 roar, the overrun, simply fantastic and very engaging. The only sound effect I didn’t like much was that break whine when coming to a full stop that sounds very Race07-ey, but it’s not a biggie anyways. In terms of sound, it beats GT5, iRacing, pCARS, and, obviously, Race 07.

Physics: Hard to tell by now with all that TCS and ABS dialed in. It gives a very good feel however and with the default G27 settings it is very, very immersive without. At least in it’s current version, RRRE gives you an experience that’s very forgiving but veri engaging that doesn’t punish mistakes very hard (TCS boo-hoo!) but is very rewarding when you try to do things right.

Car: The Aquila CR1 is very fun. It’s good looking, and good sounding. Very fast, and, thanks to that stupid TCS, very forgiving and at the same time very rewarding. At first I was a bit skeptic with having such an unheard of car and thought others were worthy of the honour, but the Aquila definitely diserves it’s spot. It’s raw and lovely. Welcome Aquila!

Track: Great backgrounds and textures, but I’m not a fan of the layout. It’s a matter of personal taste anyways, so it’s no biggie. I like the first bit of the track, but the last three or four penultimate corners are not of my liking. However, the track design is top-notch, can’t wait for them to release the almighty Green Hell with this graphics and this quality

Force Feedback: It has an “Amount of effects” option on the control settings! :D I didn’t fiddle one bit with the G27 settings and found them very nice though I think improvable. Curbs and bumps feel very real and are very informative. The overall sensation is very realistic, I’d say.

All in all, it’s a nice teaser. I think it definitely shows that SimBin has been working hard this years and it looks like a very solid base for further content. I’m very curious for various features announced in the Q&A, especially that n00b-friendly “Apex Hunt mode” and I cannot wait for them to receive my money in exchange for some goodies. I said it before and I’ll say it again: Go SimBin!

  • Silvio

it doenst start the race, it remains on the screen where there is a little point shaking in the left down corner… and nothing happens.

  • Anonymous

Nice review =D I concur with that Go SimBin! I’m really really enjoying it and can’t wait to see what kind of great content they have in store for us.

  • Anonymous

    No Trackir support?

  • http://www.facebook.com/the.bastard.poet Alejandro Ramirez

What you’re seeing here is a teaser. TEA-SER. It’s just the basic platform with the graphics engine, the physics engine dumbed down with a driving aid that will be OPTIONAL in the future, a car, and a track. Nothing more. It’s still miles away from the finished product. I wouldn’t call it “pop” either, because it does require a certain amount of skill making a fast lap despite the copious gobs of TCS.

Really, it’s unbelievable how people jump into conclussions without proper argumentation…

  • Eric Zehnder

I have a Logitech G27 and I have to say this feels pretty bad. I can’t seem to get my real steering rotation to match the visual rotation even with the various steering options. I also wasn’t able to get any kind of FFB that communicated anything but a vague feeling. When I did feel oversteering it was usually noticeably after the event.

Here’s hoping the ‘hardcore’ physics option solves this. With so many people saying they like the feel, I can only assume it’s my wheel (even though it’s fine in pCARS and nKP).

  • Ricardo Moreira

same here with g25, loose ffb and the in-game wheel not matching my movements. any ideas?

  • Alejandro Gorgal

Im getting this error when launching:

Internal error (error code: 0xC0000022). Close all applications and try again.

If this does not help, press “Error report” and send the report to product customer support.

    Any ideas?

  • Anonymous

It’s stuck on “keyboard” default, won’t let me change to Ferrari Thrustmaster as it is recognized. ???

  • GamerMuscle

Just did a quick Preview with commentary for people that don’t have the time to download the demo. ( SKIP TO 1MIN for driving I talk to much at the start :) )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-9tpCw2S38&feature=plcp

In short It looks very good and should run well on average PC’s. The physics seem ok but its hard to tell due to the assists.

Worse case as a free to play driving game its very good I think it might be a good game to get new people into sim racing that might not otherwise try it out.

We will have to wait until the pro mode is unlocked to know how solid the underlying simulation is I can see this game being a good game to play in-between AC and RF2 though especially if they get the hill climb stuff right and have lots of competitions.

  • Alex

Very impressed and hugely satisfying! I really cant wait for gtr3 and the full version os racing experience. A huge congratz to simbin, you guys have really made a huuge step forward for sim racing :D

The ingame wheel rotation is fixed for all of SimBin’s games I believe. I won’t go past 270 or something like that.

  • Anonymous

    yes, Tried everything

  • Anonymous

Not sure =/ Is the wheel showing up as one of the devices under the main options screen?

  • Anonymous

I had to up the ffb strength, resistance etc considerably to enjoy it.(G25) Now it feels pretty good though. For an amateur driving model it’s not bad. It all feels a bit weightless i guess. Might be the car.
Not a fan of the track. It’s more of a “how much can i cut here to gain some time” track with lots of blind entries and huge run off areas. At least it looks and especially sounds really good. :)

  • Anonymous

Yes. and I also tried using a Logitech game pad, it recognizes in game, but it is not listed as an option to choose, only keyboard.

  • shortcat

For the 360 gamepad, you can use custom drivers (xbcd) to get 2 different axes for brakes and accelerator.

  • Anonymous

Does not support Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 wheel. Its not listed in the Control Set folder as one of the wheels.

  • Anonymous

Demo not teaser … and thx!

  • Anonymous

You should still be able to bind stuff to them I would think.. I have pedals that “aren’t supported”, that show up as a separate device and they work fine when I manually configure them in the game?

  • http://twitter.com/Michael_42 Michael

    I thought it was good.

I felt a bit detached from the driving. There’s plenty of force and movement in the wheel (driving force GT) but I didn’t really feel I could feel the tyres in the same way you can in Shift 2 (and that’s pretty much the only aspect of Shift 2 worthy of praise imo)

But perhaps this was due to the assists? Hopefully an update will let us try the teaser without them.

I think the driving line you’ve done is useful, but for casual gamers and people learning they want to know where they are supposed to drive, not where they did :) Although maybe the apex hunt mode will achieve that goal.

The interface seems slick enough – I think the only other thing from Shift 2 I like is that the PS3 controls on the driving force GT can be used to navigate all the menus without needing to take your hands off the wheel to use a mouse or keyboard. Perhaps this is already possible in RRRE, but the UI itself didn’t make this obvious if so. So I found myself reaching for the mouse, which is not easy when the wheel is mounted in front of it. A small gripe.

The game engine itself seemed very stable and performance was fine (high settings, C2D E8400 @ 3.4ghz/HD6850/4gb ram)

It seems leaps and bounds ahead of ACR.
I look forward to seeing more of it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/gulyopapa Gulyás Tamás

    It’s very impressive footage :)

  • Lemming77

This is proving to be fantastic so far. It runs at 60+fps even on my dated PC, and handles great. I’m really looking forward to the more advanced handling model to come, as I’m sure that will liven things up a lot.

My only complaints so far are the cockpit view being at a weird angle, and it’s really generous with allowing excursions. I’ve had it submit valid laps where I had all four wheels past the white lines on turn exits.

  • Marco

Sound is great. Makes other sims sound like you are sitting on the speakers. It’s “present”. It has a quality I have never experienced in a sim before.

The track is very well done and I like the graphics. They are neither pCAR like, so accurate they shimmer, nor rFactor 2 like, where they go a bit cartoonish. This one has very good graphics that I may prefer overall to other attempts, so far.

The car drives like there is superglue on the tracks. Until a “pro” driving version comes out, I think it’s useless to review the car handling.
Let me put it this way, if real life cars drove like this, race car drivers would suffer from nose bleeds and cranial fractures fro the G forces. They’s have to wear G-suits to survive a race.
But it is fun to drive the car and the weight transfer seems very realistic.

  • Juhan Voolaid

It is not dirctx 11, right?

  • Anonymous

I dual booted XP last night, and this does run on xp, guess it’s not supported by simbin though, as xp is not listed in the minimum spec list.

  • stabiz

Very good sounds, alright graphics and pretty awful driving experience. I know its the amateur/arcade version (weird to exclusively preview that) but its still a bit disappointing for me. FFb is bad/lacking in feel, I pretty much have to rely on visuals to know what is going on, and why on earth does it not recognize 900 degrees on a G27. I am sure I can improve the overall feel 15% by testing all the settings, but the initial experience is too mediocre for me to bother.

  • Ioannis

So what happened to GTR3? What’s up with all the Trademarks? What is “skill based free to play” ? and WHY, they think payable DLC is something to be proud about?

  • Galviin

I had the same thing… Fixed it by rebooting the computer…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Craig-Cookson/1084484431 Craig Cookson

The drving aids should be optional already, TC and ABS at the very least! It’s a driving game by ‘Sim’Bin.
    .
I know they want to appeal to a wider audience – so put the aids on by default and allow more experienced drivers the option to turn them off via a menu or pressing a key.
    .
Not even giving us this option suggests they think their new wider audience are complete idiots and might turn the aids off by mistake and then decide the game is too ‘sim-like’ for them.
    .
We’re not idiots, we have the capability to change a setting and understand what it does.
    .
Having driven the game I’d like to add that even with these driving aids forced upon us it’s still clear to see the potential here. The car has excellent weight transfer and behaves very realistically over the curbs too. Graphics seem nice although we can’t get into the custom settings yet, sound is stunning.
    .
So yes, despite my disgust at the forced driving aids I’m pretty certain I’ll be buying the full release of this sim, and lots of content thereafter.
    Thank you.

  • Anonymous

That’s unfortunate to hear from you =( The game feels incredible to me with my G27. Maybe you just need to change the steering lock or something in the game since you’re using 900 degrees of rotation?

  • TheRoggan

    WOW!!!

I just drove this for 10 minutes and I’m already in love! (Even with the driver aids on!)

The sounds are AMAZING, wish there was a little more base/mids but other than that its close to perfection… With the buttkicker and proper sounds system cranked up HIGH you get this rush that only real life and VERY well simulated engine sounds can give. The shifter interuptions and on/off throttle sounds are fantastic!! Cant wait for the BMW Judd which sounds even better!

The sounds are actually BETTER in the demo than in the videos!

Graphics are great as well, car interior looks very nice. Wish we can toggle the wheel in the full version for those with realistic real wheel and screen positioning.

Physics feels very good and is clearly a simulation over arcade, though with the driver aids it is quite forgiving but in a realistic way. I can understand that they included this in the demo to get a broader audience as it makes it very drivable and adds “pickup and play” ability!. Cant wait to switch it all of and use the max difficulty and driving model to really feel the car over the limit, you can still get it a bit sideways though but the throttle is killed and there is some TCS in place.

At first I though the steering was a bit laggy or indirect but after getting used to it it feelt quite good, might be due to driver aids as well or tuning the sensitivity etc. Force feedback is very good and you can tune a lot of specific forces like the curbs etc individually which is great!

The resulting experience with the sounds up HIGH, physics and realistic graphics are one of the best I’ve ever feelt in a simulator. In combination with my realistic sim rig, controller setup and driving in 3D (which works good after some tweaking) I was actually screaming out loud with excitement when going through the gears with the V8 screaming! :)

Now I need to boot it up again and give it another go over lunch! :D

  • stabiz

No, no, I did that myself in the Logitech profiler, but I shouldnt have to. Its probably the most common steering wheel in the world. Anyway, thats not why I dont like it, obviously, its just an annoying detail.

Dammit, I wanted to like this. Back to waiting for AC.

  • gt3rsr

According to Simbin, only TC and ABS is enabled in comparison with the ‘sim’ mode. The grip level is final.

  • gt3rsr

Well, in FVA it was sorted out quite well, unlike in the RaceRoom games.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Szilárd-Hompoth/100002333117428 Szilárd Hompoth

The cockpit is really a bit weird, and because you can only adjust the FOV in relatively large steps (0.5-0.6-0.7…), it is hard to get a good position, even with the seat moving. I was not able to find the optimal cockpit position yet, but the on-hood camera seemed a good compromise for me – until the guys don’t add more adjustability!

  • Anonymous

How did you get 3D to work? As soon as I turn it on I get a black screen…

  • TheRoggan

How do you mean “turn on”?

I change resolution to 1280×720@60hz so it works via HDMI v1.4 in 3D (im using nVidia 3D TV Play), then it activates automatically for me and goes into 3D mode (screen) and i get two views rendered in sync with my glasses.

When i start on track though the view is horribly distorted and I’m like viewing from 10 meters to the left of the car and its mostly black and looks completely unplayable. But adjusting the convergence and depth (reducing) you can get it to display perfectly OK without any artifacts and with perfect depth. The main menu is a bit weird and not in 3D but thats OK (at least for now).

  • Anonymous

Yes I am also using nvidia 3D and you have this button on the transmitter to turn 3D on or off (if your transmitter is not included in the screen you have such a small transmitter box) – when I turn it on I just get a black screen…but I did not really try to fix it yesterday, will see whats up with it when I get home later on

  • TheRoggan

Im using the glasses and wireless bluetooth transmitter in my LED TV so no hardware except the graphics card is nVidia. Should work the same though.

It looks really nice in 3D, i tweaked the settings a bit more and it looks perfect, everything looks to be rendered correctly in 3D.

An awesome sim! Cant wait to drive some more tonight!

Its really challenging as well, its hard to get proper lap times with this car which makes it a lot of fun to keep on improving. Still havent managed an optional lap with ideal brake points and the right line. But each lap I improve a little bit.

Agreed, that’s what I’ve been using, and it’s much more comfortable to drive with for me. So I’ve been having a lot of fun with it like that. :)

I tried uninstalling and re-installing and it appears to be a bug in my control settings. It has a glitch where cant choose another profile.(wheel or pad.) stuck on keyboard. I’ll wait til final release, cause I’m about to take my PC and toss it in front of a high speed train.

  • David

Can’t connect error 10060. Turned off firewall, restarted…..no joy.

  • David

Why do error 10060 posts get deleted?

  • Anonymous

    WTF, Amateur Mode only? Fail.

  • kosmo1982

just change keyboard controlls to wheel. no need to change profile (it doesnt work for me too even though it recognizes my wheel and pad)

  • Anonymous

Got it now. Thanks Handling and FFB just like previous simbin titles.

  • Howie Motz

Anyone else get this error. “This game is currently unavailable (Application running)?” Is it too busy?

  • Silvio

It is still not working here. Freezes in the loading screen after start button.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Szilárd-Hompoth/100002333117428 Szilárd Hompoth

Hi guys! Does anyone know how to hide the steering wheel?

  • TTM75

Game works fine with Windows XP. I played game about 20 minutes without any problems.

  • Marco

In that case there is too much grip. I didn’t even feel a difference when driving completely over the curbs and I simply could not make the car slide. However, it makes sense that a Free to play game, even in “pro” mode would be grippier than a real sim. Even GTR2 is a lot grippier than reality. In fact, many leagues use their own cars and detune the grip a bit for more realism.

  • Marco

I am 3 or 4 seconds slower still but I am yet to do a lap where I didn’t screw up a turn or forgot what came next. But I agree, soon the times will go down to the sub 20′s and I won’t be surprised to see low 10′s. If Simbin wants to make this a success they need to monitor the faster times and make sure that they are legit.
I have already noticed a lot of spots where cutting is not penalized. In my opinion a hot lap track should be as strict as iracing is with their SR. I’d go a step further and invalidate any lap where any wheel go off track.

  • C4

Tire heating is also disabled. So no too cold or too hot tires. Same as in other SimBin sims in time attack mode.

I think it’s a good way of selling content. Remains to be seen what prices are and how it’s done, but if the business model means they can keep updating one game for x years making it better and better and also fixing bugs, that’s better, imo, than one supposedly new game each year or two that’s not really new at all (they are only incrementally better than the previous one – and most of the content is the same) and has a heap of new bugs that are never fixed.

Or worse, the games that have 5+ years between games because the developers embark on some huge project behind closed doors.

Look at, for example, codemasters F1 games, now they can get away a little bit with one game a year because F1 changes each year. New rules and devices appear, drivers change teams, teams change and so on. But codemasters never fix their old game – and their new game comes with different bugs that aren’t patched.

End result, no matter how much you spend on codemasters f1 games you never reach a point where you think “Wow, they’ve really improved this over the years” instead you always get, imo, frustrated by the fact they never release a game that lives up to the potential.

Each year they come up with a new gimmick (because their whole business model it touted on talking to some jaded journalists about what’s different about this years game)

Similarly for shift 1, shift 2 and pcars. The first game had input lag and bunch of problems with the handling and UI and set ups. Most of the problems weren’t fixed although the community had a go for the PC version.

As a result 2nd game didn’t sell nearly as well, again it only had incremental improvements and a new set of unfixed bugs.

So that’s 2 flawed games. Instead of making shift 1 much better, they just created a so-called “new game” and added gimmicks like night driving – and the input lag, setups and ui issues remained. Again the community found a few workarounds and arguably made shift 2 playable. But the online and multiplayer aspects were very poor, the good idea EA had for the online wall wasn’t really well implemented or thought out.

So what do they do next? Well, I imagine if EA had thrown enough money at them, Shift 3. But they didn’t, so now they are doing pcars, admittedly this is a bit of a departure from Shift (especially with the way it is funded), but ultimately as you can see from the content, it’s the same thing more or less (let’s face it, any games that get their content from real world cars and real world tracks are going to be similar to each other in that regard)

They’ve decided to go the pay for full game route, they have at least decided to attack some of the bugs in the earlier game, but it will come with its own set of bugs. Will they fix them? Or will they move on to write pcars 2 or something else?

Having played around 4000 hours now of Team Fortress 2, I think games that are updated and kept alive via transactions works. It works because if someone has an idea and implements a first go, and listens to the feedback they get, then improves that idea based on that feedback, is creating a game that gets better based upon the way their customers want to play it.

It means rather than coming up with a set of different gimmicks each year to try and sell a new game, you can have an idea, and build upon it over time.

I don’t really have much problem throwing some money at a game that is a time sink for hours and hours of my time if I see that money being spent making the game better and better and bugs are fixed and the servers are busy and leaderboards are active (and clean)

Where they do have to be careful, of course, is not making a game that feels like if you spend $50 you win a race against the guy who didn’t spend, but lose again the guy who spends $70. There are downsides to F2P, but there are plenty of potential upsides to it.

WHERE is the fabulous doppler from the Judd beemer in the forest’s video teaser? I don’t know if it’s the aquila’s engine or the bad placing of the cameras on the track but the trackside replay is much less impressive in this teaser!! where is the fabulous doppler??? it’s very boring ATM. (However the internal sounds are top notch!)

  • Gerald

Eeew. Steam. Even demos now require using an online verification service.

So no downloading to a thumbdrive. :(

Maybe when I feel like paying the $100 a month Comcast tax I’ll try this out.

  • Brian Duddy

You can definitely turn off the driving line… guessing the rest probably isn’t ready yet, that’s why it’s a demo…

  • TheRoggan

I have driven this now for almost an hour and managed to get laptimes down a bit to the 1.24 range though still a lot of (!) room for improvement.

The traction control still let’s you go into slides at times and you need to correct, its very immersive even like this, though I cant wait to turn all aids off!

The track is VERY challenging though very easy not to crash on. Its a perfect design for something meant to appeal to a wide range of drivers. The track is extremely hard to nail clean hot-laps on as many bends are over crests, hidden and in tight combinations. This results in that it takes a lot of time to perfect a lap but you will constantly be improving over a long time keeping you entertained!

Cant wait for the BMW and the hillclimb tracks!!

Race Room has went to my top 5 favorite sims of all time!

  • TheRoggan

Im currently down to low 1.23′s and at place ~76 on the leader board (out of 5000+), still a clear couple of seconds to shave from that. I think lap record will be high 10′s rather than lows, maybe 1.18 or so (current lap record is a 1.21).

  • NxNos

No driving aids off Teaser? Cool! Everyone good at driving and they have more money PUREWIN!!
    btw
I hate racing game multiplayer combine players with aids on/off
but nowaday 80% peoples driving with aids on, real cars also
in 2052 everyones drive UFOs no cars

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I’d put mine at the back of a cupbard and stick some clothes on top of it. :)

(seriously though, if it’s not in the options or in a config file in the game folder then probably can’t be done).

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Marcus-Caton/647940120 Marcus Caton

    Just tried it.
On rails, no feel to it, superman brakes, never locked up the tires no matter how hard i tried.

I can see kids and women enjoying this thing but no Sim racers.

  • Juhan Voolaid

I’m still at 1:28. Back to practice.

  • http://twitter.com/Pascalwb Pascal

    It looks nice,
    + good graphics and optimalization
+ I was expecting some *** arcade, but it’s fun to drive
    - UI, very st*pid UI,
    - Track, very bad track, you can drive everywhere

Without assistance it can be good, I like it more than pCARS.

  • hoodge1

If this a taste of whats to come from Simbin with their new Graphics and physics engine, I’m bloody excited. Loved the Race07 series along with the expansion packs. Using the Gmotor, these guys made their sims look amazing and the feel top notch. Online coding could of used more improvements, but as a whole, I love Simbin as well.

Tried this small teaser out, and even though the car was not setup for the hardcore fan like myself, I was impressed beyond a doubt. With AC and this and rF2 improving every build in the right direction, we got a great batch of titles to keep us entertained.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Marklar-Johnson/559615222 Marklar Johnson

Im really liking this teaser. Im totally sold on it, day 1 purchase for me. I love the handling on the gamepad. Race07 really sucked on gamepads (well the 360 gamepad anyway). No FF, single axis only for brake/gas so no burn outs, no deadzone control for right stick etc. RRRE feels great on a gamepad and cant wait when the full version comes out.

Im at 1:26.235 right now. Its that first friggin chicane that always costs me time. The 2nd chicane where you go up then down on the right turn is where you can really get some good time if you dont cut too much.

  • hoodge1

I know you can do 50 laps in that car and time just goes by cause it is Sooo much fun. There is still no calling off of GTR3 mentioned from Simbin. I like their style of no hype and silence. If this is any indication of what GTR3 will be like, I’m in sim heaven. Simbin have always impressed me with their track making, graphics, cars, physics, and killer engine sounds on all their cars.

Can’t wait till Raceroom opens up for business. Gonna spend me some money on that Aquila and the Ferrari, and seeing Zanvoort shots and Bathurst got my tongue drooling. iRacing you have some heavy competition coming up in the ranks with this, AC, and rF2.. Since rF2 came out on Beta, I barely play iRacing anymore and it’s still one of my favorites.

  • sbbr87

Again, TC and ABS is forced here…

  • Roel Postma

Do you still have this problem? i have it to and can’t get it fixed. Please if you found a cure, tell me then

    Thanks

If you go into the [Options -> Control Settings -> Primary Settings] double click on one of the controls, it should pop up a message on the bottom saying a custom profile was created. Then double click the control you want to set again, it should say next to that control and then press or step on your desired control.

Unfortunately no confirmed fix for this yet, hopefully one will come out during this week. If you can, try disabling any kind of anti-virus or firewalls and see if it works then, something is blocking your connection from accessing their servers.Or try adding these 2 exe’s to any kind of exception list: RRRLauncher.exe and game.exe in your steam directory steamappscommonraceroom racing experience

  • Anonymous

Sadly enough no cure. Checked a massive amount of forums and threads. Lots of people have the problem, but no answers yet.

  • Anonymous

Kids & woman enjoying this thing, aye caveman get back in your cave.

  • Anonymous

Just a heads up, there is a new update, that fixes connection & graphics issues, log into steam & the sim should automatically update. :)

    Release date ???

  • http://www.facebook.com/gulyopapa Gulyás Tamás

    i’m at 1:27,6 now :)

I was really impressed by the content and gameplay of this teaser. It’s definitely improved in every way from Race07 and the user interface is beautiful to look at and navigate through.

  • http://www.facebook.com/gulyopapa Gulyás Tamás

Is there official release date ?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=600716777 Eddie Jansson

    Reached 1.23,451 ! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Szilárd-Hompoth/100002333117428 Szilárd Hompoth

But it’s done in Pablo’s video above :)

  • Anonymous

The camera position when using a triple screen resolution changes so you’re basically inside the steering wheel making it hidden. I’m sure an option will be available in the full game to hide it.

    Turn the thermostat up?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Szilárd-Hompoth/100002333117428 Szilárd Hompoth

    Sounds legit. Thank you!

    Hey melanieuk1,

    What were the graphics issues?

    mj

  • http://www.facebook.com/lasse.j.ougaard Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

AFAIK – turning the graphics preset to low removes the steeringwheel. That’s what I found anyway :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/Mikec87 Mike Cantwell

Very much enjoyed this. I am Captain Slow, just did a 1:28.5 but loved it. Very technical track and once I learn it I guess sub 25s for me. I have no idea how guys do 1:20s haha!!
