Team LMT has released their first ever public mod for rFactor, bringing Ferrari's F60 Formula One car and the 2009 version of the Singapore Grand Prix to the simulation. Driven by Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, the F60 was Ferrari's take on the new rules introduced prior to the 2009 Formula One season. Despite being equipped with the promising KERS system, the car failed to make an impact on the world championship. Along with the car comes the 2009 version of Singapore, Formula One's first ever night Grand Prix. The team's first public mod for rFactor was helped by many modders who ...
Image Space Incorporated and the Superleague Formula Series have released the Superleague Formula Game, bringing the 2009 SLF season to the PC. Based on ISI's popular gMotor 2 simulation engine, the game includes all cars, drivers, rules and tracks of the 2009 SLF season, the second in series history. The virtual SLF cars have been created by none other than CTDP, rFactor's most popular open-wheel modding team. The game includes six popular European road courses as Magny Cours, Zolder, Estoril, Monza, Jarama & Donington are included. Furthermore, the game includes all of the series rules including the two-race format used on race ...
The third installment of Turn 10's Forza Motorsport franchise brings over 400 cars and 100 to the Xbox 360, aiming to create a new benchmark title in terms of console driving games. Can the newest Forza give Gran Turismo a run for its money and is the title something sim racer should consider? Read the review to find out. Back in 1997, Kazunori Yamauchi and Polyphony Digital single-handedly created a new sub-genre of racing games by releasing the first Gran Turismo. Bringing over 170 cars to the Playstation, GT introduced the concept of car collection driving titles, starting an impressive success story. The ...
Enduracers have released a first batch of previews of the upcoming Service Pack 1 for their popular Endurance Series mod for rFactor. The previews show the Porsche RS Spyder Evo LMP2 prototype in several paint schemes. Launched in 2007 after a problem-ridden season with the initial RS Spyder model, the Evo proved to be a big success, clinching Porsche countless wins in the American Le Mans Series, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Le Mans Series. The first service pack will be introducing several new models to Endurance Series, including the Peugeot 908 and Audi R10 diesel sports cars, the Acura ...
Following a first batch of previews released a few days ago, Team RMT has now released new previews of the Honda NSX Cockpit in rFactor where World Super GT is running for testing purposes. The shots show us what could very well be the most stunning cockpit in any PC simulation ever as no detail has been spared on the Super GT car's interior. Successor to World Super GT for GTR 2, World Super GT 2 will bring some of of the most legendary GT cars of the 90s as well as Super GT GT500 class machinery to rFactor 2. [nggallery id=1958] Via BSR

Graphically, from inside the cockpit, it looks great.
So why can’t the PC have this ? They can more than handle that. The cockpits are more detailed than we got with Race07.5 (GTR-E).
Lets see what the next Simbin title brings for us PC users (where Simbin was born).
This won’t be up to much on an X-Box because its not worth playing with anything but a wheel and the XBox wheel looks crap.

I agree on the Xbox 360 pad, I sometimes use that too when taking cars for a very quick spin to make screenshots and such.
Of course, it’s not like the G25 but you actually can race rFactor, GTR2 and such with this pad pretty good….all aids off of course.
So the pad is no excuse for making games arcadish

Is it me, or are there many fps breaks?
It seems that Simbin is a bit too much stressed out at the moment (GTR-Evo, STCC, Race Pro).

Yeah I use the 360 pad every now and then with GTR2 – it’s honestly not that bad. Nowhere near as fun as immersive as when using a wheel, but I’m only 1-2 seconds off my usual pace with it. With enough practice and the right setup I’m sure I could match my times with my DFP.
I think the only real issue with pads is getting the driver animations to look right when you’re flicking the stick all over the place.
Oh, and I’ve read that a demo will be out within the next three weeks apparently.

yeah driving my own car with my xbox gamepad is very precise too it handle just like a stock wheel does.
What i mean with this sarcastic comment is that a real sim isn’t quite driveble with a wheel.. but it’s true that it’s quite driveble with gtr2 and rfactor as well. but it doesn’t mean it’s boring at all. :D

wasn’t mercedes that had a prototipy some years back that had a joystick instead a wheel?
its no excuse to be totaly arcade, forza aint that bad, rbr on ps2… and newbies can use aids… some arcade games have them built in anyway… so maybie it wont be a codemasters’ish game….

Well, I think it looks great, sounds great, and I own a 360 as well. So, though I would prefer it to be for the PC, I’ll take it…. Thanks SimBin!

Should have ported this to PS3. Would be able to use all manner of wheels such as the G25. Still Race Pro does not look as good as GT5 so it’s no loss.

I’ll buy a 360 for this game.
Looks like another step forward for sims on consoles.

I almost think it would be a good idea for them to make games like this that many people will buy. They could even make both realistic and arcade-like games. I am sure with knowledge of car physics they could make a car somehow feel awesome to drive and be very simple, but still relatively realistic. I know this would not be a popular idea here probably but you have to admit, different people would buy both, therefore having both means you get more people.
Now, this the best part of what I think they should do. Use this money gained from these console games to help develop the sims quickly, because simulations are what they are truly good at creating.

I’m not sure its about how good or fast you can be on a gamepad. It’s more like cars should be driven with wheels. ;)
I bought my XBox360 for GTA-IV but I`ll grab this too just to justify the purchase more :)

well as a driving freak ill be buying this (the only reason i went out to buy a cheap 360 was this and to play forza and PGR) Ill pick up a PS3 soon for GT5 as i can use my G25 with it but me heart lies with PC for racing and as much as im looking forward to Evo and STCC i am really looking forward to see what Simbin can do with the Lizard engine with the PC.
Anyway back to topic and Race Pro does look nice and im looking forward to it

i still dont get why they’ve gone for the Xbox 360 though cos the PS3 is much better, has wheel support and is just an all round better console.

I think they went for the 360 because it has a bigger fan base? also its easier to program the 360 compared to the ps3 and seeing as simbin were pc only it makes sense to cut their teeth on the 360.

That looks great. Put Race Driver Grid to shame in the gfx department. And if the physics is any good like GTR2 or Race 07, then it probably it’ll be a great game.
Hope they bring it to the PC crowd, where it should belong first of all.

Wouldnt say it puts GRID to shame by any means, but definitely look like a great step up from gmotor2. Now lets see what rfactor 2 brings to the table for us pc folk :)
