RACE Pro - New Screenshots

IGN is the first magazine to show legit screenshots of Simbin’s RACE Pro simulation for the Xbox 360. The screenshots show the quite drastic change from gMotor to Lizard, the graphical atmosphere is very different to other Simbin titles.

These shots also confirm the WTCC Extreme cars in RACE Pro, even though they have not been specifically mentioned in the announcement.

Yeah! That’s the graphics i want to see on PC. Looks modern, as it should be. Actually on PC it could be only better.

Looks good, as long as they don’t use too much motion blur when racing.

I cant wait for the lizard engine to be used on pc! This will be great for future racing sims.

If the demands for a future version of the graphical engine for PC is the same as for Xbox it will take some years for PC’s to gain enough graphics processoring to keep up with the demands… Maybe in 2012? :-)

I think current mid range pc’s already can keep up with the xbox360 power. Remember, the consoles’ resolution output is only 1280×720 or 1920×1080, ie equivalent of 17 and 19in pc monitors. The current nvidia 8800’s will eat this game up, let alone the newer cards.

Liking the shot of the Alfa cockpit. Looks like T1 at Anderstorp to me.

Seeing as the WTCC Extreme cars are in, then maybe we’ll see the Radicals and Caterhams in the mix as well.

    This looks ugly :???:
For the last time simbin, take out that fake motion blur!

And don’t come talking to me that “real life has motion blur too” bull crap, it’s just that your eyes cant keep up with the speed things are passing by if your going 200kph+.

The only reason we don’t see graphics on the PC like this today is developers have to write to support a vary wide variety of hardware. If they wrote a game to support nothing but 8800GTs then their audiences would be very small. Why do you think SimBin went with the Xbox in the first place. :)

But yeah, the 8800GT will work the crap out of the Xbox360. The Core2s will also work the CPU in the Xbox360.

So lest take a role call. How many people that just commented have sub 8800GT hardware? I personally have a 8800GT with 512MB and Core2 Duo E6420.

PCs are mostly far ahead of consoles in terms of power. However, developers can’t fully utilize that power like they do in the 360 or ps3 because they’ve got to write code that works on a large number of machine. When you’re writing for a console you know the game will only be played on identical consoles.

One thing i said when i saw those screenshots was Race Driver GRID, it looks too similar with all the crappy HDR and fake motion blur rubbish

I have a 8800GT 512 MB, 3GB Ram and a E6600 and I can play any rFactor mod and all Simbin games with frames well over 120fps…

That somehow shows how dated the engine is, so I guess there`s lots of power to spare for a new engine ;)

I don’t really understand what some of you mean by “fake motion blur”. As explained, motion blur does exist in reality, so I don’t know why it’s fake. If it’s done right, it will certainly improve the sense of speed.

Sorry guys but you are all wrong. Take away the blur effects(ALL!) and you will see how crappy the engine is. Do it with GRID and grafics are HORRIBLE! i will never buy such a game. This will be 95% NFS, 5% XXX

Anyone know if Lizard is also a new physics engine?
I think the mild motion blur looks good on the screeenshots, not sure how it would be acually racing, probably just decheck that box in the options :)

    Bring on the Lizard! i’m ready with oc’d Q6600(3.3Ghz) and oc’d 8800GTS 512.

Soon i buy ATI’s HD4870×2, truth is that you cannot have “too” fast pc.

My specs aren’t even worth posting.

Turns out Atari have a got a playable version at E3, so maybe a demo sometime soon? Probably wishful thinking on my part, but some gameplay videos wouldn’t be too much to ask.

To be honest the motion blur does look a bit overdone in the screenshots, we’ll just have to wait and see how it looks when you’re driving. The picture quality is excellent though.

Well now I can say I won’t have to wait for the next GTR3 to be satisfied as the current games (GTL, GTR2 and GTR-E) look as good as this on my PC with the HDR plugin well set (without the loosy motion blur shit).

The only thing I think could be better are the damage graphics… which I ike in GRID and NFS:PS… (that’s why I only do destruction derbies in GRID… the rest is too boring… even drift is better in NFS)

Well, I thought Grid looked pretty awesome. Wouldn’t mind more racing games looking as good as it. The driving mechanics in Grid were obviously horrendous from a sim perspective, but that has nothing to do with the graphics.

Whats all the freaking out about motion blur about ?
Is this really the make or break feature here ?

On those external shots, if you took them of a real race with a camera, you’re going to get motion blur too (unless you use an ultra fast shutter speed).
The cockpit shot looks as it should be.
I think its all being a bit over dramatised.

“The cockpit shot looks as it should be”

Good point F1Racer, the motion blur shots are all seem to be tv/replay cameras. The driving view looks fine and at the end of the day that is the view we are all concerned about (at least I hope so).

i hate when console games use replay screenshots to show how the game looks.

but for xbox360 this looks good… wish they made it for ps3 so i can convince my friend to stop playin that dam Grid and get into real racing games

thats just xbox 360 screenshots and i think we all wait for a pc version . and im sure that on pc you are able to configure the graphics the way you like it . still look better then the isi engine . look at crysis , there are so many graphic mods out there and we know all how big and talented the sim racer community is .

I wouldn’t call it in-game motion blur, looks more like post-screen effects in photoshop to me.
