RACE Pro – Forza 2 Comparison

Over at the Atari forums, nagge has put together some interesting comparison shots, putting Simbin’s Laguna Seca alongside Forza 2, the benchmark in terms of driving games on the Xbox 360.

The shots are made up of in-game screenshots from Forza 2 and grabs from a high-resolution RACE Pro preview video. While the track layout is spot on in both games, there are some considerable differences in terms of background scenery and details.

Which version do you like best? Can RACE Pro challenge the number on Xbox 360 driving title in terms of graphics? You decide!

Race Pro looks better in the majority of them, especially the track textures. Forza’s just look too clean.

  • trebor901

i agree with you there, i hate games that look too clean because its just not realistic. And again, i mean really if you really like racing sims, who cares about graphics.

  • Mr. A

oh my, why is not ok to like good graphics if your’e a simracer…?

  • ForzaBarca88

They both look pretty mediocre to me compared to other games although RACE probably looks slightly better against Forza2. Physics better be up to scratch.
And yes I do care about graphics trebor, believe it or not some people enjoy the added immersion of realistic graphics in a simulation

Would be interested to see it compared to some real life shots or something.

  • The Lonely

umm, the layouts look very different to me. Could just be the FOV though.

  • Grozni

Im with you Alex, the layouts really look different, and not only because of FOV.

I think Forza looks much better, in terms of the layout of the track and the graphics. Both tracks aren’t nearly as good as iRacing’s version, but Forzas is much closer. The graphics of Race Pro also look very grainy.

  • dora9

Forza 2 looks much more better, and accurate in terms of the track surface texture. Generally I don’t care much about graphics but realistic track surface graphic gives you more immersion and Forza 2 does that better than any other so far. I don’t know what “look too clean” means, but check out the pic #6 & 7. That’s just what real Laguna Seca looks like.

dora9: The layout of that turn has changed between Forza2 and Race Pro, both have the correct layout. And I don’t know where you get of comparing track texture from these shots? You honestly can’t compare a screenshot from a video to a ingame photomode.

  • hornet

You would think they had done a comparison with iRacing who actually laserscanned the track…

  • nagge

Who are “they”? I did the comparison the other night when I was bored.
What’s the point comparing to iRacing when iRacing isn’t even available on the 360? The only real competitor on the 360 is Forza 2.

For me Forza 2 edges out RACE Pro because like anything there are pros and cons in both.

Forza 2 has good track textures and its surrounding track detail looks the goods, however its skyward graphics need to be addressed.

RACE Pro has good skyward graphics, however its track texture and its surrounding track detail has a very dirty and grainy look to it.
