RACE ON – Patch 1.2.1.2 Released

Posted on January 19th, 2010 in

As announced about a month ago, Simbin has released the 1.2.1.2 patch for their latest RACE On simulation title, fixing various small glitches and problems.

As usual with Simbin patches, this patch is also available to owners of RACE07, GTR Evolution & STCC – The Game as all titles will benefit from the improvements.

To update your title, simply start Stream to obtain the new version. An offline version of the patch is not yet available, you can find the full changelog below (you might have to click “Read More” to see it).

“AI didn’t stop to change tyres in case of a change in weather conditions.”

HOLY CRAP! I can’t believe they finally fixed that bug! That’s been around forever!

Also nice to see they “optimized” the setup menu. The delay on entering that was just absurd.

Still in shock they fixed that AI bug… Excellent!

Very nice. They finally fixed some annoying bugs.
Could they release a template so we can make our own rev counters more easily?
I’ve been overhauling the hud a little bit. I may release it on nogrip when I’m satisfied with it.

Race07 has such an ugly hud. At least I’m honest =]

When is the environment flickering finally going to go away? I’ve had it on multiple OSes and videocards now. All other GMotor titles don’t have the problem, and it’s painfully obvious when playing on a projector or large screen.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the environment flickering. That has been around since the beginning. I’ve always played from the hood view, so I never really noticed it. From the cockpit view it’s very bad though.

Blue flag shown if “Black Flag Only” is selected is a good thing. But they haven’t fixed the bug causing most servers to run with Black Flag Only – which is that drivers can get Blue flag (and be penalized) even on lap one (when all cars obviously are on the same lap).

Another thing I really miss, is that they haven’t fixed the fact that result files saved sometimes miss a driver or two from the session (happens both in practice, qual and race). This makes is hard to keep an automated result-system, since you must always double check that all drivers really are in the result file (and get a copy from another driver if it’s missing on the server).

They should also have done lots of enhancements to the dedi-server tool, and more details in result files (like incidents, pitstops, split-times), but guess we’ll never see that.

Also it should be pretty easy for them to add a feature so that all chat-messages are shown on top of the screen even if you’re in the setup-menus.

What is this environment flickering issue? Can you cite an example as I don’t think I’ve ever seen it, but maybe I have and I just never paid it any attention.

Still stunned at the AI fix… I’ve had a friend grousing at me about that for a couple of years!

@Unclechuckle: take the Nurburgring GP track.

Go stand on the starting grid and you’ll see a lot of flickering from cockpitview.
Most obvious is the banner over the track that’s constantly flickering.

What’s the big problem getting a patch out the door for the offline version? Get moving Simbin – there are some pretty significant fixes in this changelog.
