RACE On – New Muscle Car Previews

Simbin has relased a bunch of new RACE On previews, showing the Muscle Car class of their newest simulation in action at Road America.

RACE On has been announced to be released on October 22nd, the title will include all RACE07 content and brand new stuff including the 2008 WTCC season, the Swedish Touring Car Championship, US muscle cars and the Formula Master series.

   Seeing these screens, well, I’ll have to agree, it is getting time for a new gfx engine.

   Still, I’ll buy this and I’m sure love it (Road America )

   What I don’t quite understand, even RACE’07 screenshots look better than this (Resolution of the cars + Lighting). What’s going on?

   It’s only the low-res. The track detail is as good as anything you can find if not the best.

   The engine itself looks very good with full or high details on.

   Ok, NFS Shift looks much better, BUT! I don’t want getting scores after every bends that I leave without crash. I don’t want arcade speed feeling. I don’t want playing destruction derby on Nordschleife. I don’t want 3 laps (or 2 minute) races without practice and time trial. etc.

   Race series graphics is enough for me, because drive feeling is better than every new racing games. I miss only thing: Com 8’s Nordschleife 2009. When will it come out?

   Agree about the race feeling, which is indeed the most important….but I don’t get it, why it has to look less detailed than the 2 year old RACE’07?

    Probably your eyes… From what I see on the released screenshots, I couldn’t say it looks uglier than the other content of Race’07…

    Cars look nicely done to me, actually.

    Could you be more specific about what you find looks wrong??

    Whats this got to with NFS Shift? Graphics look awful in this, its like we’ve gone back 5 years. Releasing low-res previews, not sound marketing Simbin
    And regardless of what you might say, immersion is an important part of any racing sim and graphical realism is a part of that along with physics and sound.

    Did I imply I didn’t like the graphics? I was referring to the actual CARS, not the detail or anything. The skins just don’t do it for me. I’m a huge fan of Evo, it’s my favourite sim, and like you it’s enough for me. Just think the skins are ugly as hell.

    But then unless I’m very much mistaken and they’re much better than I imagine, I won’t ever drive these cars more than once anyway as I can’t stand muscle cars.

    It’s disappointing that Race Pro got more content in the DLC. Why can’t Race On have the Zonda and new tracks?
    Simbin has bugs to fix and this really needs some serious game and engine improvements to be worthwhile.

    Evo was great fun but now it’s just past it IMO. I think I’m going to skip this and see what Simbin does next with the new engine.

    SimBin,

    I am sure you are making a unannounced PC Sim with a new graphics engine. Make sure the graphics are really really mindblowingly awesome along with your usually reliable physics. Take help from Crytek, Nvidia and ATI, do whatever it takes to make it look like something only possible on PCs. The modders will do the rest, you just give an engine that is Ultra Powerful. Come on SimBin you can do it, forget the consoles they are not built for Sim racing, and only Very Big budget licensed cars carrying games sell on consoles, they have no appreciation for realism but we do. Don’t disappoint us with your next title after Race On, Good Luck for the future. We Know you can do it.

    all they need to do is add a lil HDR bloom/contrast and it will look as good as all the other console games

    Well bloom and contrast only does so much, I use the enbseries thing with gmotor2 games/lfs and it definitely improves the look but they still look pretty dated.
    Just bring Lizard to PC already

    Not really, first it needs a better shading/lighting/shadow model, after that you can maybe think of adding a slight Bloom/HDR Effect.

    Huh? ‘09 Cadillac CTS-V is included in RACE On – Simbin must have the license for it.
