RACE On – GamesCom Trailer

A new trailer of Simbin’s upcoming RACE On simulation has been released in time for the GamesCom expo in Cologne, giving us a first look at the simulation’s muscle cars in action.

RACE On has been announced to be released in September or October 2009, the title will include all RACE07 content and brand new stuff including the 2008 WTCC season, the Swedish Touring Car Championship, US muscle cars and the Formula Master series.

    Nice Presentation

  • hypertek

sadly im curious if this got any attention at gamerscom?

  • carbonfibre

I recognise the editing style, like it was made by somebody in the community, cool stuff.

It gave me a message; Race On’s physics can do oversteer.
It’s brilliant that we can rely on this game though, as a backup if NFS goes tits up.

For sure it wasn’t easy, having to fight against Forza 3, GT5 and Shift: I think people really are interested in something new, instead of another expansion.
I’m curious to drive Formula Masters, though.

    Ugly cars.

    Nice video :ooo:

ps:On the SimBin youtube site you can watch it in a normal, HD quality ;)

I feel like there’s no point to buy this if you already purchased Race pro packs. but .. umm .. there is not much difference from Race Pro ones .. but this one still missing Zonda R and the other classic cars they added.

    Much better :)

Does anyone from the US know if there is a real race series with these cars? Clearly the skins are fictional – is the spec fictional too?

  • JGoenR

    Nice!

After GTR2 Simbin cames to shit. When will they do a full game again?

  • Gaiajohan

Yep, I really wonder whether the Pagani and classic cars with Spa and Mid Ohio will come to GTR Evo.

Thanks Wil for proving my guess…:

Honestly, I get the feeling the current simracing world can only moan moan moan.
    1. Boohoo, the G27 doesn´t have seq shift. The devs should kill themselves!
    2. Boohoo, Simbin is not coming with a brand new game and I still like my dated game, booohoo
    3. Boohoo, GT5 doesn’t have all cars with damage
    4. Boohoo, SHIFT’s steering wheel in-game doesn’t match the real one on yer desk in steering angle.
    5. Boohoo, some crap about SRT’s host.
    6. Boohoo, iRacing is expensive, they’re steeling!

One thing a lot of simmers seem to have forgotten: Only buy what you like, and if you don’t like it, that will be the case. Then you shouldn’t buy it.

TBH, I’m getting more and more embarrassed by the behaviour of a lot of simracers.

The first 3 points are fair complaints IMO. People are getting bored with an increasingly unimaginative and stale games industry.

    1. The G27, is far to similar to the G25, it’s practically the same wheel except with less functionality. There is nothing there to make someone that owns a G25 get a G27.

    2. Entirely fare, I’m bored of yet another WTCC game. I want something NEW, something that MOVES THINGS FORWARD. Not the same thing year on year. Where is the incentive to spend my money

    3. Your damn right GT 5 should have full damage. I could accept lack of damage and crap AI on the PS1 as most of it’s power was probably used with the pretty decent (for the time) physics engine. However for the game to have the same basic structure and functionality and no major improvements or advances 10 years, 7 sequesl (incuding prologues) and 2 generation later is a VERY POOR show.

These developers are making products FOR THE CONSUMER. We DO NOT owe them anything, they owe us the best possible product they can make if they want our money, not something to make a few pounds quickly and easily. The expectations people have regarding your first three points are entirely fair.

They way people these days seem to accept the same old crap time and time again with gushing praise is cringe worthy. The attitude of sim racers, in this case, is not an embarrassment.

  • Jos

point 1 to 3 are totally fair indeed.

point 4 to 6 are whining, well except for point 6 maybe but I dont wanna start a discusscion about that

No there is no reason, but why should you whine then? G25 is still there. And Logitech doesn’t make it compulsory to take G27. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to wish the devs to death.

    2. Entirely fare, I’m bored of yet another WTCC game. I want something NEW, something that MOVES THINGS FORWARD. Not the same thing year on year. Where is the incentive to spend my money

Still, tehre’s no reason to whine, as you do not have to buy the new WTCC game. Would it be better Simbin didn’t bring out anything?

Maybe it is a poor show, but you can hurt them, by not buying GT5 or any Simbin poroduct. There’s no reason to whine and moan at all. You don’t win anything with that.
The devs make products for the consumer. If you don’t like that product there’s no need to buy it, thus no need to whine.

i.e. Devs decide what to put in their products based on sales figures, financial reality and if they are really lucky a little bit of their own passions. They do not do product selection based on little boys whining on internet forums ;)

P.S. I’ll be buying Race On. 3 new Simbin tracks and revisions to some of my favourites (e.g. Imola), plus those muscle cars to throw round Nordschleife, are reason enough. But then I’ll be buying NFS Shift and GT5 as well. And still keep my subscription to iRacing. :happyevil:

    It’s called Feedback.

Bloody hell, how do you find time to drive them all? I race quite a lot, as long as the wife isn’t moaning at me :happyevil: and I can still barely find enough time to drive the three sims I’m using at the moment, GT Legneds, rFactor and iRacing. I have about 8 other sims installed on my PC I dont have time to touch. I don’t even consider buying games for my PS3 anymore. It’s just used for Blu Ray and streaming videos from PC.

  • Gaiajohan

Not buying a game is feedback as well. Some people should think about that before maybe damaging devs mentally with things they’re saying.

    You being serious?

Damage them mentally? They are all big boys and girls, I’m sure they can take it. If they cant, maybe they should find something else to do, or raise their game so there is less negative feedback. There are much worse things in life that will damage you mentally than someone saying, “hey, your game is terrible”

They HAVE to expect criticism and bad feedback, it’s all part of releasing new products the world over. If people simply don’t buy, how will they what they didn’t like about it?

I really don’t understand your attitude on this, why should they be wrapped up in cotton wool. If I do a bad job at work, you can be damn sure someone will whine at me about it.

People have every right to express their opinion about something which they are genuinely interested in, deal with it. Not buying the game is pointless feedback – its like when the missus looks at you like youve done something wrong but wont fking tell you what

And for the record I do agree some of the comments are pretty over the top (some of the anti-GT rants appear to have been made by people who havent even played GT since the ps1 days) but that doesnt mean they shouldnt be allowed to have their say.

  • Skazz

Maybe more of our simracer community should try treating sims more as consumable products with “# hours of gameplay” like many game genres have. After all, that’s what the vast majority of buyers do: They purchase a game, spend 20-60 hours on it (often single player), get plenty of value for their money, and move on to the next one.

We’re finally getting a bit of choice in the coming months, so there’s no need to put a single sim on a pedastal and treat it as THE BIG THING… Just enjoy the good bits each individual title has to offer. Simracing is a hugely cheap PC genre (unless you are heavily into iRacing), after all. There are only a few titles per year, sims tend to work fine with older PC hardware, etc… Race On slots easily into that vision.

    Haha, good analogy

I have owened and played every GT apart from GT5P and to be honest you could play GT2 on the PS1 and it gives a very accurate representation of what to expect from GT4 or GT5P. More of the same, but it looks better.

Are you kidding? The customers, those paying, have a perfect right to express their pleasure or displeasure. Now if you were talking about complaining and whining about FREE mods; that’s a whole different kettle of fish. How do you think the developers would ever change things if it wasn’t for the “squeaky wheels” letting them know they want to be greased? People whined about not enough buttons on the G25. So now they have added 4 more. It works.

  • Sodapop

I haven’t noticed any whining but I have noticed more than a few butt hurt fan boys. Where were you guys when we talked about Forza’s lack of cars on track? There’s nothing special about GT 5. It’s just another racing game. Don’t like what we’re saying about the infallible Kaz? Go to GTplanet then, where anyone who presents an opinion outside the official one is automatically banned.

Simbin gets me the most though. I remember when GTR 2 brought sim racing a lot of mainstream attention. The modes it offered, the killer graphics, and the physics all added up to a complete game. It earned 9′s all over the review sites and brought me into the genre along with a bunch of other guys who had only played console sims. Now their games have become so niche that most review sites don’t even look at them… So when I “whine” about simbin I don’t do it for fun, I do it out of the same disappointment that comes when you see an old friend fall into alcoholism.
