I’ve enjoyed Race 07 and all it’s addons so far, but I’m starting to lose interest with it now. I’m really hoping the new content will give me a reason to keep racing it.
The muscle cars look great
. I enjoy driving the Camero’s in STCC so hopefully these will give me hours of fun and I’m desperate to get my hands on the Formula Masters cars

Nice shots. Shame though that we can’t get an official US release date and it keeps changing everywhere you look.

It’s STCC all over again scca. Remember that farce? Simbin are absolutely pitiful when it comes to giving out coherent info but look at all the pretty pictures they’ve spent two minutes working on…
Will still be buying this but for gods sake it’d be nice if they acted professionally when it came to release dates. They look like complete amateurs.

Well man seriously I hate to keep bitching about it but this is getting ridiculous. If it was a whole new game (Lizard engine for instance) i’d fully understand a delay or two. Simbin COULD have contacted Amazon and gave them the right release date instead of leading us on. Hell, they even told SRT it would be released the 15th.
In the end the big deal is instead of having 3 days now it will be 40 days if the German official date is for everywhere.

Here you have a company that DOES NOT have as big a marketing/pr section as EA. Effects speak for themselves

I don’t think Simbin told SRT the release date – I think Viva Media did.
One reason Simbin are not good at publishing specific country release dates is that they are not in charge of distribution. This is down to the publisher/distributor – Viva Media in the US and Atari in the rest of the world. Simbin certainly won’t contact people like Amazon. Amazon will buy their games from Viva Media in the US and ATARI in the rest of the world, and will get their release dates from them.
Games are a bit like books. With books you have the author who writes them and the publisher who prints and distributes them. With games you have the developer who produces the game code, and a publisher or distributor who produces the games and distributes them. I don’t think JK Rowling will contact Amazon to update their release dates – the publisher will do this.
And if you have written a sure fire best seller like Harry Potter (or in gaming terms, GT5, F3 or even Need for Speed) then the publisher will pull out all the stops to publicise the release date and may well adopt the same release world wide. If you have written a rather obscure title (or in gaming terms Race On which will not make the top 10 even for a week) then it will come low down in your order of priorities. You won’t give it much publicity, you won’t make the effort to get a single world wide release and you won’t let the book (or game) be available in download form until the hard copies have had a chance to get shifted.

Just had a look on Steam’s “Coming Soon” list. Yes, I know, hopelessly optimistic of me.
Needless to say not a damn thing.

i always been a big SIMBIN fan . but i feel a bit sad looking at the screenshots. every time i see a screenshot it is losing the good old simbin style more and more. the shots above are starting to look more and more what i call cartoony. in comparison to old GTR2 or even GTR1 shots , i just cant see why people find this looking good. , it could be my personal preference ofcourse, but however i would wish them to be on the top podium of race game production again, on the graphic , and style side, they are losing it. i do wish Simbin a better future . taking in account how they where sort of pioneer for giving modders a chance to get professional, they deserve to be up with the better ones.

I agree with BSR-WiX. They seem to be falling back. Does anyone know any data as to the financial situation of Simbin? I’d hate to be a bad prophet, but…

The screens are Artwork. Ingame graphics should look more like the Race07 content

Correct me if i am wrong Phil, but i always thought that artwork is supposed to look better then an ingame shot. and it would not change my opinion. Style wise , race is not up to GTR2 standards. I have been doing templates and textures for a while now. If i look at the race07 and GTR-evo work , its nowhere near what i call commercial quality. they all look like they are done fast , and without any passion for it. That was another story back with gtr2 . to me it looks like tey replaced the passionat employee´s with quick money collectors.

Sorry
I though you meant it looked too cartoony from Race07/GTR Evo. I agree that GTR2 looks better/more realistic compared to the Race series.

Perhaps they are simultaneously developing the new engine (and maybe content for it). And maybe budget-wise they are forced to do all this with the usual team. – And then *whew* there are still there new console activities…
I guess it’s very hard to fill up all this HD content for smaller companies. And it seems it’s getting “worse” every year (I mean, look at the visuals of SHIFT).
Perhaps they should concentrate on fewer things, but do this fewer things (more) excellent? (i.e. IRacing seems to concentrate on accurate tracks and physics and not so much on visuals and sound…)
I don’t know, but really wish them best of luck!
P.S.: nevertheless I love SIMBINs ‘immersiveness’ and their really great AI, so I’m looking forward to get RACE ON

They should really raise the bar of the graphics, they were doing the same quality in 2006, now it’s 2009……………PCs are way faster than what we have in 2006 already…

I think most of us feel the same regarding SimBin’s new titles WiX, there’s nothing to compare with GT Legends and GTR2. I go back to both and learn to forget about Race07. Really hope there’s better to come from SimBin

The models look fine to me, but the fictional skins never look as good as real ones IMO – the WTCC and Formula Masters shots look better.
For me the weak point of Simbin’s newer titles has been the cockpits – they are not bad, just not up to the exeptional standard of the older titles.
I like the trees in the second screenie/artwork :)
