Simbin has released a first bunch of screenshots of their recently announced RACE On title. The first set of screens focuses on reigning WTCC champion Yvan Muller and his competitors, racing on the Japanese Okayama track.
RACE On is scheduled to be released in Q2 2009, bringing the 2008 WTCC season to RACE07 & GTR Evolution. Furthermore, the title includes the 2008 STCC season, American muscle cars and five brand new tracks. RACE On will be available both as standalone title including all RACE 07 content as well as expansion to RACE07 & GTR Evolution.

Isn’t it amazing that Simbin have sold the same game five times to the same people?

Do we really need screenshots for this, we already know what the game looks like

^^what they said. If only it was like in the screens, not the same as the last 3 games they’ve released on PC. But trusty old Gmotor

Whine all you want, I’m going to buy that expansion again to fill up my RACE07 install even further. Its cheap quality content, imho they’re doing a good job keeping R07 alive.

I assume the motion blur and depth of field are photoshoped? Or have they added this to the game perhaps? There was a PostProcessEffect line added to the .plr in the latest patch, but it doesn’t seem to do anything yet.

The screenshots were announced to be artwork, so I´m pretty sure it’s just photoshoped.

well said, Bram.
Anyway …. this screenshots could be from any existing race07-install with new carskins. I would like to see the announced “hefty update of existing tracks”.

They were born modders. So they can’t stop modding their own games.

Simbin is really milking the sh*t out of the RACE franchise, eh? It is creating more releases for RACE than EA does with its annual slew of licensed sports titles.
This sounds like a console-esque rehash of prior RACE games. Sorry, I’ll pass.

I think some of you fail to see that these are addon packs. Most of you will already own RACE07 or GTR Evolution so you´ll only need the expansion.
And this expansion includes WTCC 2008, STCC 2008, Formula Master, the new Swedish tracks, five new tracks + the muscle cars.
Without even trying it, it’s safe to say that this will be great value for 20 bucks. So saying “they sell the same game multiple times” is just not correct. If you own one of the past games, you´ll only pay for the new content.

I’m not downing SimBin in anyway, it’s just a graphical tweak or change might liven up the content packs a little bit. A few new cars at least lift these out of skin pack territory (plus a couple of tracks)
.

Except for the tracks, this looks like a bunch of skins and a few new cars – so not really much more than what modders do for zero bucks.

what is RACE ON ?

You guys who say that Simbin have sold the same game 5 times probably don’t really know what you’re talking about. Each time there have been an addon for Race07, Simbin have also done an update to the game. And more than one time that update has been an improvement on the car physics. If you would drive the first version of Race07 and then drive STCC:TG you would feel a rather big difference in the handling of the cars.
And also if you compare STCC to Race06 there’s a huge difference! Race06 is like ice racing (and with that I mean theres no grip, no feel) compared to the latest Simbin game.
For me, I’ll buy Race ON, even if there is not much content, maybe there will be an improvement in physics or sounds. And 20 bucks are no money if you look to what you get.

The fact is that there is no Lizard title ready yet for the PC, so we get addons for the Race 07 game providing some nice content to keep it fresh, then the income means we are still getting patches for the game over a year after it’s initial release!
No complaints from me. What other sim apart from iRacing has been released or updated recently.

I would pay $20 for new tracks alone. Could care less about the WTCC cars though. Car’s on rails (realistic or not) just bore me. I enjoy a challenge.

What are Muscle Cars ?
Formula Master should be really enjoyable !

It wouldn’t be hard for Simbin to add shader effects to make the game actually look this good, but they have to be lame and use Photoshop filters to get our attention.

Why don’t you start your own game studio with all your moaning when a thread is about Simbin?
It seems to me you only want free stolen content that rFactor partially has. All the stuff from Simbin franchise stuffed into rF for free is just stolen. Of course rF also has legal stuff, but I hate to see a lot of rF guys moaning bout Simbin, but they want their cars and tracks in rF for free.

Too bad the pics are doctored.
Don’t give a crap about WTCC, or Laguna Seca. But am eager to get my hands on a decent Road America. (Have a hard time choosing between that, Lime Rock and Watkins as the best track in America.)
I will happily keep buying expansions for Race so long as the quality is there, which it has been so far. Race has terrific AI, great FFB and I know that any content they make will be good.
Now iRacing… THAT is for suckers…

Why is it always about flaming in all directions?
Nice artworks, looking forward for this or that, not interested in this or that, period.
No need flaming iRacing, rFactor, or SimBin.
We’re all a family ;)
(but I agree, free SimBin content in rFactor is just stealing, as well as having Brianza track in Race’07 if you don’t own rFactor)
(how come we don’t have free iRacing content in our platforms?)
lol !

I also hate the freetards that bitch when ever there is a CD check on a mod that contains models from SimBin.
UncleChuckle, yeah, Laguna blows. I never could figure out what all the hype is about. I would add one more track to your list though and that’s Road Atlanta. It gets my vote for best track in America.
I have a sub to iRacing that I never use. It is a good sim it just lacks cars I care about. I also hate the structured pickup racing concept. It’s funny they say they go all out to be as realistic as possible but then don’t implement leagues which is how the real racing world operates.

LensFlare, I particularly like the one line insults about sims people have never used or lack full knowledge of. If your going to bash a sim at least have something constructive and informed to say.
LensFlare
April 9th, 2009 at 01:32
In my opinion, even a cd check doesn’t do the trick. I mean, just visit some leagues, see their forums, they link to remade archives, just .rar files without the check…
Converting material from a platform to another is already borderline, at least I think.

I bought Race06 (bought? won it) I didn’t like it.
I bought Race07 drove it for a few months, didn’t like it.
I bought Evo and STCC08 drove them for a few months and still didn’t like it.
Why do I not like it? Well it is because I never got a good feel from it, cars spun out of no reason I spent two months trying to tweak it with every single parameter I could found.
Nada, nothing worked.
So I’ve given up on Race07 and it’s contents the sim I drive is rFactor. I don’t say either one is better than the other but after spending those two months tweaking Race07 to work I had it!
rFactor has it flaws too: worthless lobby, some times strange FFB, no good tyre feel, stupid bugs and so on.
This is my opinion but a number of these have been fixed and with rFactor2 around the corner I look forward to that much more than RaceON which is based of rFactor’s engine, the soon outdated engine which is getting milked out by SimBin.
if Simbin chooses to use the new engine from rFactor 2 or Lizard I make come back to them but for now it is goodbye.
I can only thank for GTR2, make another one like that and you’ll be stars again Simbin!

After buying and enjoying the original GTR, I discovered rFactor and have been driving it for a few years.
A few weeks ago I bought GTR Evo, and have been relishing in the consistency of control and graphics across all the tracks and cars.
Looking forward to more Simbin tracks and carsets for my Evo installation, and will gladly pay for them because I know what I’m getting!
Multiple add-on packs beats the iRacing subscription model.

SimBin this, rFactor that…
What if I say SimBin sucks, rF sucks, iRacing sucks aaaannnnddd EA RULES!!
I am definitely buying this. I just can’t have enough consistent professional made mods for a good game. Good graphics (you say it’s Gmotor), good AI (you say who plays offline?), believable drive model (you say there’s no realfeel), close racing (you say no endurance events), humongous selection of cars (you say the GT cars are nerfed). It seems to me this SimBin bashing is about them “selling out” with Race07. What it does not have is a constant stream of free add-on content, but at least it’s of great quality.
LensFlare
April 9th, 2009 at 16:50
Well, dirray, as far as I can see, there are lots of mods coming for Race’07. Many of them are already available. There’s a F1 2009 being converted with full permissions, and I think the mods are pretty good because those are the best and that’s why they are being converted :)
I mean, I don’t care for the WC toilet mod or the MiniVille mod, they don’t have to be converted :-D
I also think that Race’07 being constantly improved with patches and new fresh content is an excellent thing, and the price is reasonnable. At least I think.
Now, to be honest, I really hope for SimBin that something more is coming soon. Because when rFactor 2 is out, we’ll all buy it, I’m sure. And with a whole community making free advertisement everywhere on the forumboards, it will be quite hard to keep up and remain the genre leader.

I know from a very reliable source that they are/were in the beta’s of the game. So they “must” be there :P

April 9th, 2009 at 21:27
Well, it’s just the first screenshots. What do we see? Some pieces of Okayama (not much), and previously made 3D models.
The new thing is the TDI skins and the bits of Okayama that we can see.
So, my guess is that the new stuff is not yet finished or may change in the following days/weeks, including the Lada’s :)

You have no idea what you’re talking about. At all. Whats-so-ever. Have you ever even looked at the code for the physics in these “addons”. It’s piss poor development. So many of you just drink the koolaid and talk about how great the ingredients are without even knowing what they are. It’s sad. People should be more informed about the things they defend so staunchly.
If you wanna buy it, fine, buy it. We don’t care. But don’t sit there and say we’re wrong, or that we don’t know what we’re talking about, because unlike you, it’s not an opinion we are talking about, it’s poorly developed code.
