RACE On – First Lada Artwork

Simbin has released a batch of new RACE On previews, showing the Lada 110 that competed in the 2008 WTCC season.

Entered by Russian Bears Racing, the car was driven by Viktor Shapovalov and Dutchman Jaap van Langen. Even though the Lada effort was pretty much underfunded compared to the works efforts of BMW, Chevrolet and Seat, the team managed to score some respectable results.

RACE On has been announced to be released in September or October 2009, the title will include all RACE07 content and brand new stuff including the 2008 WTCC season, the Swedish Touring Car Championship, US muscle cars and the Formula Master series.

    I have pretty much every simbin game up to this and feeling stupid about buying the last two i am definately not getting this. It seriously looks like rubbish, and the same stuff they have been rereleasing in new packaging for years. Those ladas. I mean come on. Rfactor free addons look much better.

    Its great to have iracing :)

    The Formula Masters and the US muscle cars are the new bit, but I agree that the WTCC license has run its course.

    SimBin is probably doing something big right now and they need all the funds they need from these expansions to make that as Awesome as they can so support them in any way you can so that we get something really spectacular in the future.

    Yes, I think it too, but the delusion still remains. I mean, while I liked the Formula Masters artwork, I find these really ugly (Lada doesn’t help: it’s quite blocky :happy: ): after all the NFS Shift screens we got used to, with Race On it seems to go back to games we used to see 6 years ago. :neutral:

    Lets hope so, it could also be a huge project for the consoles to get the big bucks.

    Yes well i hope so for their sake. They will have some tough competition with iracing/rfactor2 and what else might come along.

    Meh, who cares about Formula Masters. Get A1GP, Speedcar, GP2, LMS, something halfway interesting.

    I’m not sure if it’s just the angle, but the shot of the rear ends of the Lada’s makes the model look sub Simbin standard. The textures for the lights etc don’t look good at all.

    I’m not going to judge them on this one screen and I loved how the Formula Masters cars looked in both pics and the video, but it is worrying that the Lada model looks quite poor from the rear. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the best looking car anyway by a long shot:).

    People said this after Race 07… How many of these “donations” is it going to take? Also can they adopt a flat fee?

    iRacing is no competition at all. Monthly fee based with paid content additions is an epic fail if you think it any way competes with Simbin.

    Will give you RF2 though.

    I’ll still be getting this. I love Evo. The more cars the merrier. Plus I notice folk have completely forgotten there’s new TRACKS too including, if I recall, an OFFICIAL Road America.

    Happy to pay Simbin and keep them going rather than feed Kaemmer’s asinine greed.

    They are very low rez screenshots – only 604×377. Are they off Facebook? If they are maybe they should rethink releasing shots on Facebook. Its a bit like releasing videos on Youtube – they always look crap.

    RF2 is no competition – its still a long way off release and who knows how long it will take modders to get up to speed with it.

    Shift coming out before RACE On will make it look dated though, even if its not a traditional sim.

    Early WIP shots from 2001 would be fine but this is a bit much.

    Do they expect us to get excited?

    The 110 is a tragic looking car, and the Priora is even worse (they slapped roundish lights ona blocky car… they did the same thing with the old 2107 and trust me: it really does make you want to puke). It has a typical Russian styling, that makes your eyes water: but then again, it’s a 10 year old design with an Opel Kadett engine, so… if I’m not mistaken, the whole Lada in WTCC thing was the result of scrapped Lada 110 S2000 rally car programme. They just removed AWD and transplanted the rest into a liftback shell.
